One of my unions main goals is to educate workers to make them more valuable. In florida , the union companies are all specialty electrical companies. Your average electrician can't walk in and do what they do. All thanks to the union's free seminars and curriculum. How does that not make the employer more profitable?
BTW i have seen first hand people getting laid off or fired simply for asking about unions, I was laid off for asking another worker about the union. How is that fair?

Addressing your last paragraph: majority belief does not necessitate accuracy, or wisdom, or moral righteousness. At one time, a majority of Germans supported the Nazis, did they not?
An idea that has a larger support is not necessarily better than another.
Then I'll put it in better words, the majority support it with extreme propaganda being thrown at them trying to make them hate unions. This is a great video. We voted in the union 7 years ago. We went through mandatory meetings prior to the vote telling us our pay would be cut among other lies. After the union was voted in, my pay increased $6,000/year on the first year of the first contract. Even in this terrible economy, we were able to bargain a 5% COLA for this year. We need to start giving tax breaks to huge corporations that don't outsource jobs, bust unions, and slash worker benefits. Not the other way around like we have seen under Reagan, Clinton and the 2 Bushes. The CONSTITUTION CLEARLY STATES that it is politicians duty to represent us, NOT lead us.
Libertarians, go back in your history books and see how good the economy was when union membership was at 70%, compared to now. That's one hell of a coincidence, wouldn't you say....

I'm from 20 mins outside of Philly and I can tell you confidently that you're 100% full of s***.... With local 1180 I received $22.50 +health benefits while the same exact job in southeastern North Carolina paid $12 per hour non-union....

Those companies aren't squeezing those workers, those workers should be grateful every day that they can get a job in the morning. Those companies can pack up and bolt anytime. Obama is a lying piece of shit. He is not a person who believes in unions. He hasn't done anything to push the Employee Free Choice Act and he won't.
Hopefully the Employee Free Choice Act will pass and unions will get better. Let's just hope that the unions don't depend on a politician like Obama. They must organize and push themselves.

An idea that has a larger support is not necessarily better than another.

Then I'll put it in better words, the majority support it with extreme propaganda being thrown at them trying to make them hate unions. This was a true democratic feeling, a majority creating an organized opinion that came from BELOW. That's real democratic and the best and most humane option. The Nazi situation (which the majority didn't support either), does not pass that criteria even though the Nazi party did get in via the vote.

I sincerely apologize for my mistake. But even so: had a majority supported the regime and had they voted, this support does not vindicate its morality or strength. So my analogy remains valid.
Let me bring up another example. Communism in Soviet Russia and Mao's China were initiated by a majority. (Communist doctrine is based on the wants of most men.) But if you grew up in the Western world or thinks rationally, you realize that capitalism is morally superior to communism.

It is like someone pointing a gun to your head. Guys were getting paid $65 to mow the lawn. Unions can strike, intentionally lower product quality and cause headaches. Most executives don't want to deal and fight the unions and just give in. The result is that they destroy the companies because the union companies can't compete. Look around up North? no factories anymore and the non-union South is loaded with them.

No one is saying that the market is perfect. Nothing is perfect. But relying on criminal organizations (unions) to make wages through extortion is making a deal with the devil. The unions are simply to evil. They destroyed GM, Chrysler, US Steel, Bethlehem Steel, Eastern, Pan Am.. gov't unions killed Brazil, France, Philadelphia, California is going bankrupt. I am sorry your salary was low but nothing justifies the monstrous evil of unionization.

Capital-intensive companies like Auto makers and Airlines are at the mercy of the union thugs. Unions can threaten to shut down the factories or the airlines. This is simple criminal extortion and GM was paying $65 to hire unions in the same way a mugger points a gun to your head and asks for your wallet. GM's problem was it was too weak in dealing with union scum and the thuggish unions destroyed the company.

This is a great video. We voted in the union 7 years ago. We went through mandatory meetings prior to the vote telling us our pay would be cut among other lies. After the union was voted in, my pay increased $6,000/year on the first year of the first contract. Even in this terrible economy, we were able to bargain a 5% COLA for this year. It is correct to remember that noone in upper management works without a contract. Why should you?

I think we all should have a choice to join a union or not. But no one has a right to have my address, telephone given them by my employer and then use that harass me. By the way I think freedom of choice is so important that my employer should have this as well. Employee free choice act. He should be able to tell the union to get lost. After all its his company, let him have the right over his own product. If you do not like it quit and start your own company. May be that corrupt union ......

If a company wants to decertify, they can already use "card check" to get signatures for 50% of employees, and remove the union. This has been the law. Employee Free Choice would give us equal rights.

Yes unions have some bad people but that doesnt make unions bad; it like the nut with the gun is bad not the gun. Unions are not just about wages they give you safety standards, job security and seniority just to name a few. Lets say you have been working at a job for 5 years and you worked your way up to $10 an hour and youre good at what you do. Then they hire a new guy or girl for minimum wage and let you go. Later you find out that the person was the bosses relative.

The only reason why anyone would want to eradicate secret ballots when voting for anything is to afford them the ability to intimidate others into voting a certain way. That is precisely why we vote in private in this country, and why no one can be compelled to tell anyone how they voted. This is just another fascistic tactic of the far left designed to ELIMINATE freedom of choice. If there's one thing that leftists are good at, it's naming something the exact opposite of what it actually is.

Employees have been fired for trying to organize in their workplaces. Currently the secret ballot is under managements control. If you want to vote on what happens in your workplace, choose a union. A union is just the beginning of your ability to vote and have a voice at work. You will vote on contracts affecting your financial compensation along with benefits such as seniority, healthcare, vacation and retirement. Vote Union Yes! Support the Employee Free Choice Act.
