  • @Edude117 yeah it's cool... and then what?

  • damn, i came here, and while listening to this awesome song composed by one of the best composers of our time, Hans Zimmer, I scrolled down cause I wanted to see the comments. And the two top fucking comments are bla bla bla 24 ppl... bla bla bla 22 people aren't entertained. say something serious, something that people want to see, that "391 people didn't like to..." is getting old.

  • 2695 roman legionaries have liked this video.. =P

  • @mrpierru96

i think hans zimmer made the music for pirates of the caribbean too

  • 6:10 isn't that Pirates of The Carribean?

  • @Aeon135 Yeah but It's also Hans Zimmer who wrote the soundtrack of Pirates of The Carribean.

It's the same rythme than Pirates of The Carribean but not the same notes.

(Sorry for my english but I speak French)

  • 6:10 isn't that Pirates of The Carribean?

  • When we were playing rugby, I had the ball and yelled "STAY WITH ME!!!!', I watched Gladiator the night before

  • Epic greatness of an entertainment!

  • Commodus the Coward has 26 fans....what a loser! Maximus! Maximus! Maximus!

  • Later there was Giuseppe Garibaldi to join in nations.

  • *Gladiator battle theme plays* Chuck Norris must be having a shit!

  • All the song is far beyond awesome but the beginning of the song is my fav part. Make me feel like a gladiator preparing before entering in the arena :) Amazing compositor !

  • Death smiles at us all, all a man can do is smile back.

  • 5:54 - 6:10 :@

  • MAXIMUM VOLUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who would win in a fight? Maximus or Leonidas?

  • @kcswimmin Spartacus :)

  • @kcswimmin definitely Maximus. From my point of view, he's like a lion, brave, ferocious but like a sleeping force. Leonidas is kinda badass but it will allways be maximus :)

  • "At my signal...UNLEASH HELL."

"Brothers, what we do in life...ECHOES in Eternity."

  • Shit gets real at 04:03

  • Gladiator was the best movie I ever watched, it has deep meanings that are related to our life nowadays

  • Gladiator is older and an INFINITELY better movie than PoTC.

  • Has anyone noticed that the start of the music is very similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean music, listen: 00:02 - 00:29

  • @karlyp411 Again, someone has to clarify this. Gladiator's music was done by Hans Zimmer. PoTC's music was done by Hans Zimmer. Gladiator Came out 3 years before PoTC. You will find similarites because it is by the same musical genius. Not saying you said this, but other have said this movie's music has copied PoTC. It's not coping if it's by the same man, and how is it coping in the first place if the movie is older than PoTC?

  • I just want to point out that French Horn is by far the most bad ass instrument ever. Anyone who doesn't agree must be retarded or something. This is like a fucking french horn concerto for shit sake.

  • @Xpenguinstrikex DAD?!

  • @huriguri lol idc which was released 1st and stop spreading 9gag all over tha place just coz its cool in 9gag.. i only care about how awesome both movies were and i just realised they have almist the same music soundtracks so dont hate

  • 2,590 romans are entertained

  • HOOOLD THE LIIIINE!!

    STAY WITH MEEE!!

    ROMA VICTORRRR!!!!

  • Being only 9 or 10 years old watching this movie in 2000 ... it blew my mind. I watch Gladiator every now and again cause it is so incredibly awesome in every way and I can't really find any movie as good as it. Definitely in the top five best movies ever made.

  • @CHTWillCome723 same here man.... i make sure to watch it at least twice a year!

  • @MrKrumpmaster Yup. Twice a year seems about right for me too.

  • Played at my funeral, or rather my Viking burial.

  • What's the brass instrument being played from 5:52-6:20?

  • @bnaveenk16 Horn section

  • @DJRockwood By horn I'm guessing you mean French Horn?

  • @bnaveenk16 yup, i'm referring to the French Horn section

  • @DJRockwood K thanks!

  • From 8:40 on reminds me of the Italian soldiers that sacrificed themselves in the first World War.

  • 6:00 Pirates of the Carribean

  • @dimsio1993

thank you captain obvious. honestly, what are you doing? y u no look up if gladiator was first released?

  • I love this song because when I listen to it I can imagine people going to die for the fatherland

  • 22 BARBARIANS ARE NOT ENTERTAINED.

  • Germanic chief: "IHR SIED VERFLUCHTE HUUUNDE!!!!!! (YOU ARE DAMNED DOGS!)

  • @capnhawkins So thats what he said... thanks.

  • @CHTWillCome723 And apparently what he says after that translates to: "I am extremely pissed off!"

  • @capnhawkins I'd be pissed too. Romans were tyrannical a-holes. lol

  • 5:52. So pumped.

  • Still a great film though

  • And you should know that this soundtrack plagerised Gustav Hoslt's The Planets: Mars the War Bringer (:

  • @Alt1re

i believe somewhere that he said he had decided to honor it by including parts of its themes in different parts of the song

  • one of the greatest movies ever made

  • com ose llama el cantante si algiem me dise porfa grasias

  • WHAT A SONG MAN! Hans zimmer is absolutely the best!

  • Progeny

  • 5:25 - wide shot of catapults firing as the Legionaires move forward, the shots exploding in the forest. Epic shot. And then as 5:52 comes in with Russell Crowe's piercing "STAY WITH ME!". Goosebumps!

  • The beginning is also very similar to the epic theme song of The Rock. It`s just his style using horns, trumpets and percussion to get the ideal music of combat.

  • priates had to rip off some epicness

  • 4:13-4:20 are also pretty awesome

  • It's not from Pirates of the Caribbean, if anything they copied it off gladiator, the movie gladiator came out earlier...

  • OMG i LOVE the whole song but my favorite part is 5:04-5:13

  • First of all, Gladiator was first.. so the pirates of the caribbean soundtrack belongs to this movie.

  • Hans Zimmer, whata genius !

  • the battle scene made a mockery of all the historical research done by historians... by my god was it epic..

  • WITH THE MUSIC THERE IS ARMENIAN DUDUK TOO WHICH MAKES MORE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!!

  • Comment removed

  • good to know should be that gladiator came 2000 while potc came 2003. stop blaiming gladiator. just sayin

  • NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART!!!! 5:53

  • @KamaraAlex If that's the good part for you, then go listen to the pirates of the caribbean soundtrack.

  • i dont understand, why did youtube create a dislike button, there is no use in it

  • You have to love it. Awesome battle soundtrack. Btw I don't care if it sounds like Pirates of the Caribbean, as that's also one of my favourite soundtracks!!! :)

  • beyond words!!

  • 6:19 ROMA VICTOR!

  • If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled.

CAUSE YOU'RE LISTENING TO EPIC MUSIC.

  • @velerefontis76 Yeah, you're right, it does sound similar, it was made by the same guy who did the Pirates if the Caribbean!

  • I hope they make a Rome Total War 2, the first one was the best Total War game IMO.

  • Hispano! Hispano! Hispano!

  • epicness! god damn! just woke up to this, its going to be a good day boys!

  • Hans Zimmer..

  • the only empire in history that has lasted over 1500 years

  • Comment removed

  • You can clearly hear the similarity with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies 05:53. Perhaps Zimmer found this great part again.

  • @nikorpel No, the POTC movies are similar to this.

  • HOLD THE LINE!!!!

  • Stay with me! Stay with me!

  • "On my signal, unleash hell."

  • Great song :)

  • ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!!?????

  • @eyp0704 if i was a ufc fighter that's what i'd yell to the crowd after i ko'd a dude

  • 6:05 Maximus! (throws him the sword)

  • I like this music more then i don't know i get scared and this music plays and i doesn't afraid of anything!

  • 6:25-6:7:10 gives me an erection

  • Comment removed

  • Why does everyone get so fuckin offended if people dont enjoy the same music as them? Are you really that insecure that you need every music video you like to have 0 dislikes?! Just shut the fuck up and enjoy what you enjoy, and realize that EVERY issue on planet earth has at least 2 sides.

  • man, i need this soundtrack, so i have something to listen to while im out slaughtering heathens haha.

  • Is it my idea or from 5:53 to 6:25 is the soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean???

  • @velerefontis76 you're totally right! I was thinking the same thing. But they're both from the same composer so it's not copying!

  • @TheLotteBryan I just looked at the comments of other people , 3 weeks ago. Some of them also observed it. Its so obvious. I think Zimmer just couldn t predict the Youtube factor. He thought ... bah who will notice it after 5 years. But here we are.

  • @velerefontis76 AHAHAHA :D

  • @velerefontis76 the Pirates of the Caribbean came out in 2003, Gladiator in 2000, so you should say that THEIR soundtrack is from Gladiator

  • @QeeZQn LOGIC'D

  • @QeeZQn Tottaly agreed. I didn t say the opposite though. I just said that from x to z is the soundtrack of the PotC. :)

  • @velerefontis76 jack sparrow has no chance against maximo

  • @broticuos One word i ll say ... "musket".

  • @velerefontis76 Well he composed this one first and probably thought that part was much too good to only appear briefly so he decided to use it again (better).

  • @velerefontis76 Yep, but at least the composer ripped himself off and not someone else.

  • @velerefontis76 Those movies came out later, so in fact Pirates of The Caribbean took from Gladiator ;) It is the same musical composer, so that is why it sounds so similar.

  • @velerefontis76 It's the same emperor of soundtrack composers (Hans Zimmer was uncredited in POTC), so there might be a correlation.

  • @velerefontis76 No my idea is that 5:53 to 6:25 is from gladiator but sounds similar to POTC, because hans zimmer is brilliant

  • @velerefontis76 same guy

  • @velerefontis76 It's composed by the same person, Hans Zimmer, so most likely.

  • @velerefontis76 Gladiator is older

  • @velerefontis76 Indeed, it sounds very similar!

  • @DominikaMySession Its by the same composer so no wonder :) But this is way more epic then Potc!

  • Comment removed

  • @velerefontis76 Gladiator came out before Pirates

  • @velerefontis76 Wow hans zimmer composed both? NO WAY!

  • @velerefontis76 It should, it's by Hans Zimmer, he did Pirates of the carribean..but this came out WAY before Pirates did.

  • @velerefontis76 Its the same composer. Hans Zimmer did both Gladiator and Pirates. but if anything, Pirates has the same music from Gladiator seeing as Gladiator was made before.

  • Nope just your idea me thinks

  • In fact u could be right

  • @velerefontis76

When Pirates first came out, I thought they had lifted parts of the soundtrack for Gladiator. Klaus Badelt, who did the soundtrack for Pirates, did a great deal of work with Hans Zimmer, who did the music for Gladiator. So that's why the similarities

  • @escapedlunatic1 Hans Zimmer was originally asked to do the soundtrack for Pirates but couldn't as he was working on the Last Samurai so he gave some notes to Klaus Badelt for him to arrange. I love doing a dissertation on film music!

  • I think it's because Hans zimmer has wrote the music from pirates of the Carribeans too.

Sorry I don't speak very good english

  • @velerefontis76 it is, because it's Hans Zimmer and this was written years before POTC. He frequently uses that riff throughout his compositions. It is easy to figure out which scores are by him, as they have similar melodies.

  • @ILTfuMDG this is the reason why Hans Zimmer is one my favourite living composers, you can always recognise his style! Listen to King of Pride Rock from the Lion King and see if it sounds familiar!
