i own a Pentax K2000, its my first camera and i cant really compare it to other cameras but for me it is a great camera for the price, beautiful colors
No, the shutter is in the body behind the mirror right in front of the sensor. Most of the noise is probably coming from the mirror.
I believe you are thinking of the aperture, which is the diaphragm that closes down to control how much light the lens lets through.
Some medium and large format cameras do have the shutter in the lens, and this is called a leaf shutter. These are pretty rare on most modern cameras (except point and shoot cameras).
The K-2000/K-m has been replaced by the K-x. It appears to be a very good camera. I would recommend either the K-x or the K-7. The K-7 is significantly more expensive, but offers better build quality and more features. The K-x is a bit newer and probably has a bit higher image quality than the more expensive K-7.
Hehe, I wish we could mute it a bit, but we can't. The K2000 is still a great little camera. It is okay if it is a bit loud :) I never actually use the continuous shooting modes anyway.
Thanks for this.

@tastade omg yea. i just confused the shutter and the diaphragm.
well i normally use the german words for that both so i thought shutter meant what diaphragm actually is.
