Hey Numinator, it's not plagiarism when some acknowledges where the original music came from, if you listen to Judith's interviews, she gives credit to the Russian origins!
Perfect pitch is what someone said Judith has, her voice and sound has never altered, when you watch Judith in this video then flash back to the beginning, Judith's voice or pitch has remain so classic, I look at all the video of Judith and the Seeker and could only imagine the great influence they have had in music, though the sound of the Seekers may not constitute Rock and Roll, Judith and The Seekers should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I say this this because The Seekers music and
Judith is Australia's national treasure. Not the trash that you hear today. Her voice is angelic and crystal clear, and God has given her this very pure and powerful voice for her to share with the world. God bless you always Judith. May you live a long and happy life. Blessings from Singapore.
the wizard of oz,glen millar in the mood, disneyland, and jusith durham all magical thank you for putting all these videos on of the royal festival hall with judith
My remark is not so stupid like yours. What is more stupid - to write about any credits which were not written about or to write about music which you've heard?
Very funny that this group is singin' the old Russian folk-song of XIX century (1883)... The words are different, but the tune is the same - completely. Plagiarism...
Judith is amazing, her voice is still that of an Angel. not only is she sooo talented but a great person who loves people and this earth, and from your friends in San Francisco, we will love you til I die
One word of advice; don't listen to another female voice after Judith, it'll be an anticlimax. I made that mistake once with Celine Dion, and her voice seemed screechy after hearing Judith's.
! always remember that Grandmother had a signed photograph of the seekers - I think that I have it somewhere! And I do admit to being in my 50's now! I watched Judith Durham on the TV a few years ago - 'Diamond Night' - my wife and I bought the video! And now I seem to have discovered these You Tube videos. Well, the Seekers are still brilliant and if I could choose just one record to take on my desert island it would be 'the carnival is over'. Judith Durham is timeless
Whenever I hear Juith sing this song I can't help but cry - and the passing of time somehow makes it even sadder and more poignant. Just beautiful, sung by a gorgeous voice.
Just an observation - in these later years, when she sings this and other past hits, the tempo is not quite as upbeat, and she sings in a slightly lower key. I wonder if that has anything to do with her lung condition. Not that it matters one bit however. My opinion of Judith Durham is simple. The best there is ! The best there ever was ! The best there ever will be . . . I love Judith Durham.
yer you're right. This is a semitone lower than the original. Just an age thing - our voices all get a little lower with age and singers begin to find it harder to hit the highest notes and maybe have to start a little lower. fyi the original is in the key of D and her opening note is an A. Here she starts on an A flat. Well spotted.
One of the best Seekers' songs... Judith's incredible voice is still as good as ever! Not many singer retain their voice for so many years like this. May you go on for ever Judith, we love you.

@Numinator1 What a stupid remark. Credit for this song was always given to the original Russian folk song that inspired this version.
