This is AMAZING because with LOT of distorsion, the definition of the sound is not too much (of all pickups). It's really clear.
PS : I have a little and bad AMP. But I've been suprised by the middle pickup (DiMarzio® Area '67™). If you turn little the Tone of the Fireman, you have the little tone of Yngwie Malmsteen.
The power of Hambuckers and the definition of single coil.
If you play with a big Marshall AMP, you can be surprised. The sound is very loud. It's the tone of a Hambucker. I approuved Paul gilbert thing about the pickups.
- - - -
I've too play on a little Marshall AMP. and the sound (with distorsion) is the same as hambucker (just little lighter).
@ermonski just very clear distortion, place the amp sound at max volume and play the guitar knob volume at volume 6 so it sounds extra clean, paul gilbert is a master at sound lol
@OneVAPORIZEDHitt420 hmm I doubt he cranks his amps real loud given that he has a hearing problem now. maybe his sustain ahs somethign to do with him cranking up the gain.
@MrSharpenis To get more treble out of the low. When you throw on a lot of distortion, the lows can get really muddy, especially when playing fast with a shorter scale, and I guess he liked the bassier highs.
Well, that's practically a perferct promo clip for any product: The guy actually knows what he's talking about, having made the design himself, and uses the product with plenty of knowledge. Plus nice, non-chaotic editing. Seems like a nice git.
Whenever I travel to a new city, I always look up the local guitar shop and/or pawn shop. You never know what you'll discover. I found one of these in Nashville. I plugged into a Budda 40W tube combo. Very comfortable, very bright tone and very quiet. Sitting down, the horn kind of dug into my chest, like a Parker. I am a humbucker guy, and I really liked the p/u's. The neck was easy to get around on. Bottom line, I liked it, but for $7000, you had better be a huge Paul Giilbert fan.
guys, i cant' understand the part at 2:05 where he's talking about the string tension. shorter neck means looser strings? and then the sustain, using thicker strings improves the sustain? can someone plz explain these?
With thicker guitar strings, the note will resonate for a longer time compared to thinner string. Therefore, you should have greater sustain with thicker strings. What Paul was saying about the neck scale, is that the neck is a shorter scale which allows you to use thicker strings without increasing the tension greatly, compared to using heavier gauge strings on a standard guitar neck which would increase the tension much more.
Thanks no problem. As long as the tension is sufficient enough to keep the strings from buzzing on the frets, the tension won't make that much of a difference. You might be able to get a slight amount more of sustain, but regular gauge should suffice.
By any chance that anyone has to play one of these things...I bought one and I love it... Like he said , great playability and tone!!!! AMAZING JOB Paul
Paul G. cracks me up.What do you call an Iceman turned upside down? Why the Fireman of course.Paul's shredding doesn't bore me to tears. He's the real deal.
@fretfirestarter it's funny because he used to call it "reverse Iceman" until he asked if someone had a good idea for a name, and then he had chosen for Fireman, because what's the opposite of ice/water? :-P
PG on a signe coil. who woudl though. And its match playing style In my opinion. Clean sound + fast picking just owns. and im rly impressed by the heavy sound of those single coil pickups.. just dont need hambusck anymore. Awesome guitar
Oh, and I dig the old-school Ibanez bridge. It looks just like the one on my '80's Destroyer used to... :( Plus, this one has a cool built-in carrying handle!
Paul- thanks for losing the fake f-holes, and I'm glad you've come around and realized that the single coils give you more articulation than the humbuckers you used to play forever... Love the plank!
I still don't understand how one person can be so awesome. Coolest down to earth person, and an amazingly good guitar player... I really hope I get to meet this guy someday.
