  • wish i had this when i worked for that moving company

  • @cutlerylover can you actially shave with this knife? notwithstanding that it's really thick.

  • Thanks for an excellent review.

  • I really like it... It seems like the kinda knife I'd bring with me If I was going to the army. Because it can open cans, but cloth, chizel things... widdle. It just seems like a really cool knife.

  • how many knives

  • It looks kind of like a straight razor

  • but its awesome

  • its like a mini cleaver with the hole on the handle lol

  • what a load of borin shite

  • thumbs up yet again

  • not to be an ass or intagate, but i have always heard it said "ra-zull". please tell me if this is or isnot the proper pronunciation.

  • @AustrailianIchigo you call it RA-ZULL, I call it a RAW-SULL, you call it a towmatoe, I call it a tomawto

  • It seems like you liked this knife, have you seen the stubby folding razel? It's a more portable version of this knife.

Beautiful little knife, I'm hoping to get my hands on one in the next few weeks.

  • I like Crkt for atheistic looks and built well. I wish the steel was a tad better in the My tighe then 55-57 But I'm not a steelist person.

  • omg 2012.......that knife is going to have to do with the end of mankid

  • even at 100$ most knives arent worth it, IMO 40$ is a knife you can afford to lose/abuse it shouldnt cost more than that

  • @cutlerylover the reverse grip on this knife is for prying up on things.

  • Looks like a mini-meat-cleaver!

  • I would think that tip and the angle it sits at would be pretty kerambit like in function. It would just tend to slash and gash then hook and rip. I'm not a tactical person at all so I could be completely wrong. lol I would actually like to get one of these for my tool bag. I can't see myself knife fighting anytime soon (or ever lol), but I agree it would make for a great tool.

  • He claims that knife is "not great for piercing at all." However the website gramknives dot commy shows under "Razel Facts" where he put that same kind of knife through a regular insulated steel door. It looks like it pierces just fine and would work like a Kerambit just fine. I think in the right hands that knife would be just as deadly of a combat knife as any, plus it can be a good utility knife as well.

  • @Kinley1978 You stab me with a chisel, ill stab you with a cold steel tanto spike.

Which one will be actually effective?

  • @Kylef7735 That is easy. If I stab you with a chisel or even a pen then I am effective because I got there first.

  • I'll trade you a emerson commander for it

  • It's not pronounced "ra-ZELL". It's "RAY-zull", as "razel" is a combination of "razor" and "chisel".

  • overall not a bad review, i will be getting one or the shorter straght eadged verson, but id like to point out that u can stab with it if u look on the graham knives website they point out that u can stab though a steel door with it, so i have no dubt that if used wright it will go thought human flesh no probelm.

  • Nice Review Jeff, seems like this would be a handy tool......Congrats

  • I love this freaking knife. I don't know what it is with me and unusual blades but I just find them so attractive. Definitely on my to get list. Would you say it would make a good neck knife considering the weight? Does it stay in the sheath or does it fall out easy?

  • acualy you can stabe thought a door with it go to the gram bothers website

  • i believe that the logo is a gunbarrel w/ sightpost from the "receiving" perspective

  • do you have knives for throwing?

  • that knife is the missing link to the end of the world 2012 lol

  • sorry to correct but i was at the crkt knife show and its pronounced ray-zel as in razor

  • i think the graham knives logo is like looking down the barrel of a revolver

  • I want a knife maker to make blade like the razel, but in a tactical/fighting version. Karambits are too curved for my taste, would like a straight ringed knife. With reverse grip, a ring blade would be awesome for a really fast draw, and fast stabbing action.

  • when you first pulled that wicked blade out, i seriously thought that this was a shaving razor.... with a nastier edge :D

  • the logo is looking down a barrel of a gun just so you know and great vid!

  • The Graham logo looks like a barrel of a gun to me, lol

  • I just received my Stubby Pocket Razel today, CL. Its very small but a quality job the whole way; the chisel, to me, is a brilliant option and seems to be an indispensable bushcraft second knife! Think of the push-cutting potential. Great design. I give it a 10! Very nice Micarta handles too.

  • I'm in. I just ordered the standard CRKT Razel (no ring) and the Stubby folding version, too. These things look to be killer. That chisel would be an outstanding addition to a bushcraft kit.

  • What do I think? i think I want one!!!

  • its not that bad for defense. you could ruin someone with that

  • I just got this knife a week ago and the "Secondary" tip chiped off while i was cutting cord from around a branch--using a reverse-grip stabbing motion. So beware of that, I wouldnt pry with this knife for fear of further damaging the tips.

  • idk bout not diggin the reverse grip.....u could stab the fuck outa someone or somethin with that.......def a good slasher

  • I thought it was pronounce like razor and chisel combined.

  • yeah youre right... It is.. rAY-zUL.. ive heard it pronounced alot of way tho... but Graham Brothers knives says thats how its said.. LOL

  • man i have been wating for like a year or so to see a review on this knife thanks

  • I saw 2012 and thought of the movie lol

  • You mention not really needing the reverse grip, since the knife's stabbing abilities are limited. I thought exactly the same thing when I first saw one of these, but if you check out the Razel section at the Graham Knives website, it shows one of the Graham bros. stabbing one through a steel door using the reverse grip (lol). Check it out. Thanks for yet another great review, btw.

  • Definetly bought the small one once i saw this..... now I want the biggest one with the serrated spine.... damn you Jeff!

BTW- the small Razel, awesome for work cutting down boxes and cutting shipping straps. Scrapes stuff good too!

  • i love this knife

  • me too i want it so bad

  • i like the number 2012 lol

  • its a sign. were all gonna die lol

  • yeh, people said that 2000 was the end, ahh oh shit, were in the matrix lol

  • This is another one of those knives (like the modified sheepsfoot on the BM griptillian w/spydy-hole) where the first time I looked at it I thought "Eah! It's crap" the second time I looked at it I thought "Welllll......" and then the fourth or fifth time I looked at I though "Damn! It's grown on me. I have to get one!" It's funny how that happens like that with some knives.

  • you should never "pry" with a knife. most every knife will be high carbon steel and brittle. so, prying will snap the blade.

  • I agree knivers are for cutting, BUT this specific knife can take more abuse than regular designs, its built thicker for that reasosn and the steel choice was decent to be used for prying..

  • @cutlerylover This knife looks like it belongs with spyderco. I just dont find those knifes appealing to me at all. But I guess it is a second type of cool or you just like it or you don't

  • @eldopa69 the graham brothers do pull ups with just the tip stuck into a crevasse i promise some prying won't hurt it.

  • they should make a folder like that but i can hardly imagine the design :) however a great video again

  • you can get a similar folder, theyre like a pocket knife with a straight razor built in, but it wouldnt have the chisel tip

  • the graham symbol looks like a revolver barel head on

  • @reidmeyers lol ur right it does

  • I don't know if this topic has come up yet, but I'm fairly sure that the Graham logo is meant to depict the barrel of a gun rather than a bomb.

  • CRKT may call that filework, but I seriously doubt they have people hand file each blade, and since filework must be done by hand, it would be decorative jimping, unless of course they actually do hand file it.

Filework has to be done by hand to be called filework, or so say most knifemakers and knife encyclopedias.

Hate to correct you, but that is something that I am harsh on is the difference between Jimping and Filework.

  • the intention is for it to be filework, in appearance, but I too doubt its done by ahnd, so I guiess the proper term is faux filework...but its not intended to be jimping at all...

  • Agreed lol, Faux Filework (I guess we could also call it Production Filework lol)

  • "Faux Filework" LOL!

  • @cutlerylover now that I got one, I found the "filework/jimping" is actually pretty functional if you dig your thumb on it at an angle like maybe when using it like a scraper

  • @dtester my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard

  • I'd like to have a version of this knife without the ring, but also had a slightly longer handle on it. I don't like how the ringed version feels because I don't use the ring, but the non ringed version feels like it's too small for my triple-extra large hand. :/

  • cool knife.

  • its the chode of the knife world

  • thats a really cool knife, don't know what i would ever use it for. but it sure does look cool.

  • What a cool knife..so different..Thanks for showing us this...

    CJ

  • I love the functionality. A folding version would make it a great EDC knife for lots of tasks. Thanks for the vid.

  • they actually do have a Razel folder with a similar blade shape, saw it while shopping around.

  • they have a folding version on their web site

  • where do u order ur knifes from?

  • you could hold it in the reverse grip to slash

  • im so high and this is awesome

  • it looks like a cleaver

  • Not great for piercing??? Look at Graham knives website. This is a good tactical knife. Jimmy locks, pry open doors/windows, and you CAN stab with it.

  • well with a hammer or other heavy object you could pounbd it into stuff, but with the force of your hand you wont get throuhg hard thigns like solid wood to great...but ywah youi cna really beat on it!

  • @cutlerylover having a ring in the handel dubles your penitration power, but i also wana point out having that solid lower tip means that thing will go though ribs and coller bones with suffisant force "witch most people can porvide when needed", so softer flesh is no problem, but i could see how it could be an awkard tatical knife for some.

  • @cutlerylover i've watched a video i believe it was on graham knives website , and the designer/maker penetrates a thick wooden door with it ! so ... it only doesn't seems so cause ure used of useing a point for stabbing :)

  • THAT.

    is a cool looking knive.

  • that'd be awsome for cutting ears off , damn thats a flush looking knife

  • Looks like it would be a nice yahtsmans/sailors knife.

  • Such a specific kind of knife, it just doesn't interest me. Still an entertaining video. Well done. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day too. Take care.

  • I'd actually guess this knife might be more versatile than most others (unless i misunderstand what you mean by specific)

  • For example a fighting knife could easily(usually) be used for utility tasks and vice versa. However, this knife would not be good for fighting because stabbing is limited. It's a fixed blade so it's not as portable as it could be. And if you think about it, a knife with a real tip can also be used to scrape as cutler lover describes, while also retaining the ability to penetrate/stab. This knife is designed around a very specific task : chiselling.

  • good points. not as portable as a folder, but it's good to have the str of a fix blade in a heavy work knife. While you lose the fine point tip...you can cut, scrap, chisel, and (dare I say) pry.

For fighting, yes, this is not a fighting knife. That said, I could defend myself with this knife. The ring could make an impact point for punches or hammer blows. And a chisel stab is actually more divesting then a sharp point stab. Tho it may have a harder time against very thick clothing.

  • That's actually a really nice looking knife! I probably wouldn't be able to use it much myself but it sure could be handy to a lot of people I know. Thanks for another good review Jeff!

    5/5

  • i think the pronunciation is ray-zell (razor+chisel)

  • the graham logo at 3:48, i thought immediatley of the barrel(sp?) of a gun with the front sight on top, and the black part being the inside of the barrel

  • same here

  • That would be a great tool to keep in the 'ol EDC bag!

  • for the decorative part on the spine of the blade (the part that you called NOT jimping in the annotation) remind me of the jaguar classic balisong serrations.....

  • 40: "Oh my God wheres the tip" HAHAH, I loled.

  • that knife looks awesome!!!!11

  • that is the sweetest fized blade ive ever seen! i gota get 1

  • 5/5m8

  • thts awesome!

  • i think we should go hunting together.

  • hey jeff what is hollow ground

  • hollow ground is where the sides of the blade are ground inwards in a circular shape, if you look down the blade from the point, you can see that the sides curve inwards instead of going straight down to the cutting edge.

  • Thats SICK!

    I WANT ONE.

  • thats exactly what i was thinking

  • Yeah man, I really dig that sheath with the clip, I'm going to look around for something with the same sheath system but maybe a little cheaper, I just really can't justify 60-70$ on a knife atm.

  • I want that knife so bad but i only have $40

  • Not really too important, but I read in some interview that the Graham Brothers stress the pronunciation of the Razel line as "ray-zel"--because it's apparently the love-child of a razor and chizel. Also you've probably already been told this, so appologies for that. Good video, as always.

  • wow that glides right through the box

  • Yeah you'd be surprised, if you get a really nice knife like this one. There's verrrrrry little it has a hard time cutting.

  • I'm always trying to scrape things with my knife. I'm gonna have to try this one out.

  • As it is chisel -shaped, i would like to have handle with's end that can be hammered .

  • Thats the first time i see a blade like this. Really weird, its like a mini chopping knife, but really interesting too. To be honest i would like to have one!

    Pretty cool

  • due to the shape/size of the blade, how do you think it would stand up to chopping tasks? (i.e. a small tree in the woods, maybe a plank or so)

  • I think it woudl be decent just ther smaller 3" blade is limited...

  • I WANT ONE.

  • Nice review. Could you do a review on the littler Razel from CRKT?

Would like to know what the sheath looks like on the smaller one.

Also, there is a new Spyderco out that you should get. The MINI TENACIOUS!!!

    They called it:

    The Persistence!

  • doesnt the graham logo look like the front of a gun barrel with the sight at the top...

  • lol it does

  • Very cool knife right there. I does remind me alittle of old school stright edge. Do you own any stright edge razors that the barbers use?

  • He does, watch his christmas special

  • i do... try not to buy them cheap.. they are garbage.. for a good one i might have to spend atleast a 100.. i'd rather get one that holds half a razor blade.. don't know what they're called..

  • CRKT Ringed RAZOR Lol looks like those old shaving razors^^

  • that's a cool blade

  • CRKT knives are awesome. I picked up a Lake 111 for around €40 about a month ago, and it's absolutely the best one I've ever had. The lock mechanism doesn't wear or budge and the knife has an excellent quality overall. I highly recommend it.

  • That's just an extreme tanto Lol

    Great review

  • nice nice

  • The Ravel SS7 is very big, It would be nice if that knife came in a 5" to 6".

  • dude .. i dont see how that knife isnt good for defense .. lol that secondary would be fine with a powerful thrust and in the reversed grip it looks like a helluva slasher brother sir.

  • I sooo want one of those!!1!

  • is that saw like pattern on the the bottom of the back of the blade a real saw or is it just for decoration?

  • its not a saw. its just decoration.

  • damn

makes sense though, I was wondering what a saw would be doing there, seems kind of inconvenient . . .

but I was hoping for a saw :/

  • i think its so you can put your finger on it to get a better grip so it wont slip out.

  • o that makes sense

  • the graham knives logo looks like the end of a gun barrel with a sight

  • its effing niffty

  • hey man i love ur vids just wondering have u ever heard of ducksunlimited? and i wold love to be ur friend so =] and also wats the best thing to clean folding knife with? i have a few i need to clean.

  • Hey man I know this is really off topic for this video but its your newest one and I have a better chance of you responding. I want to get a nice brushed chrome Zippo and then have it engraved for a friend. My question is should I go with a classic Zippo or the Armor plated Zippo, the thicker one? Which in your opinion is nicer? My only fear with the armor one is he wont be able to do tricks with it cause its heavier, but if thats not the case than I think I'll go with it. Please respond, thanks

  • As far as weight goes the armor is significantly heavier than normal ones..so if he is big on tricks I would personally go for a regular Zippo vs. the Armor one. You have to think whats the bigger priority A) A Zippo for him to do tricks with or B) A Zippo more for personal meaning and display

  • nice review! i like the knife, but i personally wouldnt buy it

  • I like the look of it, but I wouldn't use it, would just be too awkward. But I like it. Hopefully one day they release a drop point/reverse tanto version of it

  • Oh, and the Graham Logo is the front end of a gun :P

  • I really like the look of it, except for that ring at the bottom of the handle.

  • WOOHOO new review!

  • Oh my god wheres the tip!?!

    wait...

  • Excellent review! ....as always! Great job!

  • It looks like a beefy meat cleaver. I like it

  • i like your reviews, there in depth

  • Thanks for doing this review. I have long been considering this knife. I appreciate the advance look.

  • isnt the mark supposed to look like a gun pointed at you? like a colt peacemaker or something

  • looks like a good knife

    and its really sharp!

  • Razel...like Razor and Chisel....ray-zel

  • another way you could look at the tip things would be if the secondary cutting edge was kind of like a sharpened swedge. thus making the primary tip where the two cutting edges meet. idk just another way of thinking.

  • you should become a youtube partner then you will have more money to buy more knifes :)

  • bad ass knife

  • nice knife

  • kinda reminds me of a meat cleaver just to say awsome knife though

  • On first glance I thought, "omg what a horrible looking piece of crap". However, after your review and a little thought about the POU, I could see that as being quite a handy tool for EDC. It could also be handily employed as a defensive blade using Shotokan style defensive strikes.

  • haha "POU" haha somebody has been watching Nutnfancy... :D

  • that would make a good divers knife and what the hell is jimping

  • Jimping? its sort of like a serration on the handle (or other part of a knife, where your hand may need to rest) that increases the grip greatly, if executed properly. it is especially important during thrust attacks.

  • A mystical quality of knives that makes nutnfancy warm and excited inside.

No actually it's ridging or bumps which aids in purchase on the blade, generally the thumb.

  • LOL

  • i love that knife man you and nutnfansy are the best reviewers on youtube

  • wow pretty cool buddy. love your videos!

  • what do u mean its a wood chisell not a real knive

  • the top flat end can be used as a chisel, as opposed to a normal knife that does not have that capability

  • Cool knife....CRKT is the most innovative knife company out there, seems they have a new design out weekly.

  • where is this made?

  • wow, not a blade you see everyday haha =) Nice review Jeff
