It's funny! I didn't think of this idea when I was looking for a split screen tutorial to make my next music video. Actually I already know how to make a split screen but with Ulead it's not really in good quality. Do you have a suggestion for a better program that I might maybe even download for free or which is at least not more than 80$?

@The1updudes I know Sony Vegas and Adobe After-Effects can do it, and it's possible to do even in the free program Windows Movie Maker. However, in Movie Maker, the edge of the pole must be exactly at the center of the screen, otherwise the effect will come out bad.

Final Cut Pro was used for this particular video. However, the Videomaker Editors regularly use: Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, Magix and Avid. Any one of these programs (and many others) can do this technique. Cheers.

1: make video of one side of pole without you behind it

2: make video of other side of pole with you "appearing" from the pole

3: edit: crop video without you behind pole so that the side remains empty (take out the right side)

4: edit: crop video with you "appearing" from behind the pole (take out the left side)

5: place both videos in seperate tracks and run them at the same time.

You can do this technique on any editing system that has multiple layers and cropping capabilities (which is most of them except for Windows Moviemaker and Apple's iMovie).

1. When editing, place the Issac footage and then place the Issac-free footage in the layer above it.

2. Crop the Issac-free footage to the pole so that the Issac footage is visible from the left of pole only.

3. When Issac walks past the pole, he is covered by the Issac-free footage above it.
