  • So hab es mir nicht vor gestelt

  • Hey, thanx for posting this film, for a Titanic fanatic such as myself, it is fascinating to watch!

  • im amazed how a film can be lost and then someone finds it (or noticed they own it) almost 100 years later, and an okay working reel too... man I love when I see lost films.

  • Wasn't this a lost film?? Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed it.

  • @3y3raven

It was, both this and Saved From the Titanic were believed to have been destroyed sometime around 1914. Saved from the Titanic was destroyed in a March 1914 fire at Elcair's US Studio. Given that In Nacht und Eis was kept in Germany, it's a good bet the war may have played a role in why this particular film was destroyed. The fact this copy survied (keep in mind this was made in 1912) is a miricle in and of itself.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! Its the only Titanic related film I haven't seen!

Is it available to buy anywhere, I know you got it off a friend but where did they get it from?

    Thanks :D

  • Krauts! I wished I had a Thompson Submachine gun and blow these nazi scums right away like the all American Hero.

  • OMG Stummfilm?

hoch lebe die heutige zeeit !

  • I know I've already commented, but... isn't this supposed to be a lost film? May I ask where you got this...?? :S

  • @InvaderJem

This copy actually turned up in 1998 in a private collection in Germany.

When you think about it this film hasn't seen the light of day since 1912 and it's a good be it never left Germany until recentally, this print survived World War I, the German Revolution, the Depression, Hitler's Rise to power, World War II, the Occupation/Divison of Germany, and the Soviet Dictatorship in East Germany, it's a merical this copy of the film survived to be rediscovered

  • Wow, so this is the very first piece of Titanic movie. Pretty nice. The good thing in the language is that, no matter which language do you know from the followings : English, Scotish, Irish, Welsh, German, Austrian, Swiss, Liechensteinish, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic; you can understand the other for at least 50%.

  • This is the second known movie about the Titanic. The first was lost, known as "Saved from the Titanic"

  • XD Ah, man, I feel sorry for you non-german speakers. You're missing out. But some of the intertitles are a bit cut-off, so are difficult to read... Other than that, I'm ecstatic that this film is available to watch. Many thanks, AwesomeCinema!!

Anyway... Isn't this film directed by Fritz Lang? [Dies Film ist unter der Regie von Fritz Lang, nicht wahr? --probably broken german, but...]

  • Dude, I'm sorry people are stealing this. That "Friendo" guy is stupid. You were here first.

  • It's so obvious they're using "Deutschland" and "Amerika" (or "Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria") as a substitute for "Titanic!"

  • Stummflim auf deútsch oder??

  • I thought you were going to annotate the translations to the subtitles!

  • Yeah, I'm working on that.

  • One of my relatives, who is a Titanic fanatic, has been desparate to get his hands on this video. Any idea where it can be found or purchased?

  • I'm sorry, but this film is unavailible for purchase at this time. I got it through a friend who has a copy.

  • how do you get a copy. it was made in 1912!

  • can you translate all of these subtitles? I can get some of them roughly, but it isn't as interesting unless you know exactly what it says

  • you might want to consider taking down the "in part" video now that you put the entire thing up
