  • Did you take the file straight out of the camera and then upload? If not, what were you export settings for this? My HD files do not play back very well on youtube. I have tried MPEG2 and H264 .m2t export.

  • I think I convert to 1280x720 60p (progressive) mpeg2 first, then upload. TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress will do deinterlace and convert 1920x1080 60i to 1280x720 60p.

  • @ckao3489 how do you make the files 2 720p?

  • I have a Canon HF200 and recording it at 24mbps and without converting the raw footage if uploaded to youtube the video gets sound or video artifacts. Youtube's avchd decoding process needs to be tweaked. I record my video at 17mbps which is still 1920 x 1080 resolution but without the sound and video artifacts or one other option is to convert the video file before uploading to youtube with sony vegas pro or some other program...

  • Hello,

I am actually having quite a tough time making a DVD out of the .mts file. which software did you use (or prefer) to convert the .mts files? Nero up to challenge?

  • I'm using TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress to encode to mpeg2, then use Windows Movie maker to authorize to DVD vobs.

  • you said you convert it to mpeg2 and im wondering how to get it to movie maker also. but how would u convert it to that on your comp. ?

  • do u know how to use the files from this camera on windows movie makers'

  • I convert it to HD mpeg2 first, then windows movie makers can read it. I heard windows7 can handle AVCHD directly, but I have no chance to try it yet.

  • Hi, I know you said you didnt have a mac, but what Kind of files are the movie on the Card recorded in? .AVI - .MOV? Are you able to just drag and drop them into folders to play or do you have to convert them?

  • The file is AVCHD and the extension is .MTS.

PowerDVD9 can play back it. Windows 7 can play back it without install any software.

  • question: to shoot the best possible video INDOORS, what's best:

    1. the Kodak Zi8 , or:

    2: Canon Vixia HF200 ?

Audio quality is not important to me,because I will record the audio with my pro audio computer setup. Neither is important the look, etc. I am only looking for the best video quality at a budget. Thanks !!

  • Sorry. I don't have Kodak Zi8 so I cannot compare. But I heard Sony's HDR-CX500V is good in low light condition because its ExmorR CMOS sensor has good sensitivity.

  • hey is there a way around the white sky, in mine it looks way to white. txs

  • QUESTION: Did you use imovie to edit this? If so how did you get the files to play on your Mac? When I plug the camera in is shows up on my desktop but I cannot open any of the video files because they are in CPI format not quicktime. If I can't get them off I am going to have to return the camera :^(

  • No, I don't have Mac. I remember I copy the file from the SD card and directly upload to You tube. You tube will convert from 1080i to 720p for you. Quicktime cannot play back interlace, so you have to convert it to progressive format. A software you can try is TMPGEnc XPress, it will deinterlace 1080i and covert to progressive and convert to mpeg2.

  • download a program called MPEG Streamclip to convert them

  • i have the hf20 and i love it. great camera!

  • Would you suggest me buying it?

  • If you mostly shoot outdoor, it is good buy.

  • It tends to have more noise in dark like indoor but very great in bright condition.

    I like it very much.

  • How is the camcorder overall?
