  • This is a top quality video and the effort really shows!!!

  • stumbled upo ur vid as I am a die-hard fan of mineral makeup (mostly foundation)...i cannot believe how dumb i am for not thinking about how to control the crazy mess! You are a life saver!

  • Do you have any tips for regular pressed powder? I hate it when I have just a small amount of pressed powder left around the edges of the container when all the powder in the center has been used and it reveals the metal underneath. Then my brush won't pick up the powder around the edges, I guess because it is too small of an amount to pick up. Is there anyway to pick it up around the edges, or scrape it out and recycle it somehow? thank you

  • Excellent tips!

  • Thanks Koren, lots of great tips in this video! I wish I had seen this before recently opening my loose powder containers... i'll know for next time :)

  • Thank god i watched yr video before i opened my mineral foundation, sooo helpful, thank you :-)

  • you're absolutely lovely!! ❤

  • These are great tips. I always have problems with my mineral makeup and never thought of using cotton balls to help with the mess. When the closed jars is moving around in my makeup bag the minerals sit on top of the sifter which is so annoying! Thank you so much!

  • The cottonpadtip is really helpfull and so is the tip with the tapping of the brushes!

  • Fantastic tips...thank you for this great share 8-)

  • Thank you very much for your tip. But I want to know how to handle mineral eye shadows because they tend to fall all over the place. Is there an easy way to convert them into a shadow paste?

  • thank god i just found your video on this tip! thank you so much!!!!

  • Thank you so much!!

  • EnKore, you are so smart in handling make-up items! ^^

  • If you've already take off the sticky cover, you can clean the sifter and put take over it. then do what Enkore suggested and poke out a few holes.

  • I would have never ever thought of that in a million years!!! gotta wait until my next new container of mineral foundation to do this. thank you!!!

  • aw you're such a sweetie and come up with the best ideas, I wish you were a friend of mine. Thank u for taking the time to share these great tips with us...XXXOOO----Liz

  • WOW! This video is a life saver...I wish I knew this before i took off that sealer..too late now but I now know for next time!

  • I so wish I had watched this video two weeks ago! I took a trip to Cancun and my mineral foundation jar was completely empty..all of the foundation was on the sifter and cap...that was a HUGE mess! Thanks for the tips!!!

    Angela

  • I took them all apart and taped them. yeah it works great now I pooked 2 or 3 holes like you said to and i love it. Thanx so much

  • very helpful tips, thank you!

  • I don't swirl my brushes in the lid of the jar, though. I found these small plastic condiment cups - one for base and one for blush - at Walmart. After I'm all done, I take a paper towel and spray a little rubbing alcohol on it and wipe the cups out.

Any suggestions on a container to mix mineral products in? Whenever i want/need to mix 2 or more powders together, I get a mess, once I open the jar.

  • Thaaaaaaaaanks so much for those tips.

I used to buy sifter seals from a packaging company (along with smaller jars to fill, for purse or travel.) Those worked fine for a few times, but eventually have to be replaced because the powder will make them less sticky, At $5 for 100 + shipping, this can get expensive, after a while.

  • Thank you for this, I spent an evening cleaning up all of my MM jars. now they are all neat and clean. Thanks again.

  • thank you soooooooo much.......love u :D

  • you're so smart!

  • hey thanks for the tip, it always bugs me how much product goes through the sifter but now there's a solution!

  • Thnx!

  • wow this is a big help! thank!

  • i use mostly mineral makeup so your tips will be very helpful to me thank you

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • EnKoreMakeup, your too cool for words! TY.

  • wow. great tips! I don't dare "travel" with my mineral makeup. I only apply them at home, all the little jars stored in a decorative tin [not a makeup bag bc of the mess!]

  • Awesome tips about the powders Enkore! I've been using loose powder for years and I would never remove the tab, just pry it open with my nails! Awesome tips! Love them!

  • love your ideas !

  • you remind me of mr. rogers in a good way though... just like the way you talk in an educational way but nice idk i can't explain too well you just give me that mr. rogers vibe i like it thought LOL

  • lmfao he reminds you of Mr. Rogers?

Well, he does sound a lot like him...

  • Gosh you're smart. This will help when I travel with my makeup.

I don't use the caps of my makeup when I apply it, I put my makeup in a candy dish so it's easier to clean

  • awesome! I'm gonna be traveling with my mineral makeup soon and was wondering how i was gonna keep it neat when its tumbling inside my bag. Awesome tips with the cotton pads and balls...

  • thank you so much for the tips...I always love watching your video...I like the way you explain things in so detail....

  • wow! very creative tips!!

    Thank you<3 =)

  • Great tips! Thanks~

  • You are so excellent! Everything you post I love.

  • so useful! thank you :D

  • awesome! Thank you for this. I never thought to leave the seal on. I have a new mineral veil I have yet to open and I will use these tips!

  • What a helpful video!! THis I find will be especially useful for those who travel!. I am a new user to mineral foundation and the mess is my only complaint. You have successfully shown me how to minimize this problem. Thank you so much!

  • Once again great tips,I use these foundation mineral daily so I am very happy for these tips.

  • Thank you Koren! For all you pale skinned gals out there that are still searching for the perfect MMU...I admit, I was a little leary to try MAC's but I love it! The MAC MA suggested (I am VERY PALE!) MAC's in Light and Smashbox Halo Powder in Fair. The result is gorgeous! I found MAC's to be pretty matte and Smashbox's is luminous, so use less or more according to what look u are going for. The combination of the 2 MMU's is beautiful!

  • Thanks so much, K. I hate wasting mine and the mess it makes. This helps so much!!! You are great!

  • Rather than use the cotton ball, you could always use another sticker for over the holes if you are going to travel. Sure some will stick to the sticker, but it would sift into the cotton ball too. Maybe use little price stickers like you would use at a garage sale? =)

  • You are always so helpful! I am thinking of using foundation like these and i will use your 2 or 3 hole trick!

  • I have my finishing powder in a puff jar from EM (everyday minerals) and I bring it to school and so on... it is easy and great for touch-ups!

They are really cheap can't remember but probably 5$ or something.

  • Everyday Minerals now sell their foundations and finishing powders in a sifter jar with spill proof covers that snap on to the sifters, in addition to screw on cover.

  • I don't know how you do it, but you keep coming up with fabulous ideas. Thank you.

  • this is great koren! thanks! do you know how to clean up mac pigment jars? mine are SO messy and i hate when they spill out every time i open them :( do you have any tips on that?

  • awesome tips!

    thanks so much!!!

  • Hello there I just recently started being a "you tuber" lol and wow! your videos are of great help!! I recently started using mineral foundations and concealers ( like a week ago) I must say I love them!!! But like you said they can be messy, thanks for the tips!!

  • U are ALWAYSSSSSSSS extreamly helpful Koren!! i am so thankful u are here on youtube! Thanks so much for taking the time to share ur brillance with us!! <3 <3 <3

  • Love tip no.3 especially! :o)

  • I made a massive mess last week when I dropped my MAC eyeshadow pallet and 10 of the 15 smashed oooppss!!

  • oh nooooooooooo!!!!!! :o(

  • i did the cotton cover thing to one of my mineral make up continers and it gets moved around alot so the cotton gets filled with the make up. so just dab my brush in the cotton piece is that ok??

  • Thanks for the great tips as always Koren! Fortunately, my mineral makeup doesn't give me problems- it's some of my loose pigments and makeup that give me trouble. Itsjudytime sent me some fantastic pigment samples, but I don't open them up much because it collects in the rim, doesn't screw on tightly, etc. Now I know there's only so much you can do when the container isn't that great, but any tips?

    Thanks!

  • the most of your videos are interesting and quite useful, thank you much :)

  • hi koren! =) after applying my mineral make up i always hate it when it smears on my shirt when i take it off (the make up that is). how do i avoid doing that? help me please =)

  • thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am planning on buying mineral make up tommorow...glad

    i saw this video first!

  • you are great!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great tips!!! :D

  • woah, thanks so much for pointing out the sebum bacteria.

i suppose i can put clear adhesive tape on the holes on my sifters if i've already peeled off the seals. thanks so much for the suggestions, you rock as always!

  • Great tutorial! I learn so much from you!!! I've heard of putting a clear coating on your make up brushes to keep the number of the brush from fading. You probably mentioned it in one of your videos....do we just use clear nail polish? do u do it over just the words/# on the brush or should I put a clear coat over the entire bottom of the brush? Would love to hear your advice on this!!!! You rock!!!

  • koren, when you travel overseas, do you have a problem with security agents or border agents going through your makeup. do you lock your cases up so people cannot tamper with your makeup cases. have exclusively mineral makeup and i know it can get messy if someone doesn't handle them too carefully.

  • so simply n logical! sweet!

  • Great tips!!! Thanks so much! Luv ya!

  • love your tips, they are allways very useful

    thank you so much xxxx

  • Wow, your tips are so great! I love your videos!! Good job!

  • OMG this is such a wonderful video, i cleaned mine all up with rubbing alcohol and stick sticky clear labels over them, those used when wrapping, and its great, its soooo much cleaner, and it does not waste product, and you dont end up wearing alot also, as i try to use it all up them!!!!

Enkore keep up the great work, i have even been telling MAC makeup artist in Selfridges in London, and they told me they loved your idea's!!!!

  • These are such GREAT tips!!!!! I would've never thought of them on my own. Thank you.

  • Tape?

  • a square of cellotape with do the exact same! x

  • Great Tips!

    Thanks !

    Bye From Paris

  • Thanks for all the tips!

  • i would recommend MM users to check out Everyday Minerals for a good sifter jar. they sell one that has a turn-able seal and it saves me a lot of time cleaning up!

  • Thank you Koren this tip will help me.

  • Ciao Enkore!! greetings from Sicily! u rocks!

  • thats why & i feel like its already toO late to use the cotton to seal them since I did the whole swirl and tap! =[ But gud use for the next time around! MAC & Bare Escentuals R 2 of my fav make up that my skin agrees with. It does not do well with drugstore brand....

    never sitting in powderdust again.

  • I like the way you say, "So" lol its cute!

  • ive been using a bit of sticky tack to block the holes in mine :)

    Good ideas koren xx

  • i never thought of that...i was like "DUH" ... thank you for that information it really helped me.

  • very helpful<3 thanx Koren!! youre awesome!! : D

  • Genious!!!! Thanks Koren!! :D

  • Why didnt you make this video a couple weeks earlier when I bought my Mac blot loose powder, LOOOOOOOL.

  • Extremely insightful Koren! Thank you.

  • I usually take a craft knife and slice through the center of the clear seal, lift the smaller half to expose about half the holes and that works well for me. I like the brush-head-up tap and cotton round/cotton ball ideas! Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • Ha! How awesome that you said to turn your brush right side up and tap the handle so the powder can fall "into" the bristles...I've been doing that for so long to avoid mess & avoid wasting product ;) Also with my loose eyeshadows I always tap them on the counter/flat surface so that it "settles" before I unscrew the cap.

  • it's better than my tape method of blocking the holes..

  • I switched to Serious Skin Care Mineral makeup because I love the lid. It's shaped like a bowl which I love for blending the minerals into my brush. Love the tips!!! You ROCK! Thanks!

  • very helpful..i've been waiting for this video forever..thanks a lot... btw i checked out your website and there was an ad for dupe mac brushes are they any good? also, the same website advertises mac makeup as well..any thoughts on those..luv ya

  • Thanks Koren, you have the best tips.

  • Everyday Minerals has a new sliding lid inside the lid that covers the holes when you're finished.

  • Oh my gosh! I gave up mineral makeup because of the huge mess. I will try these tips.

  • Great tips! Now I'm going to re-tape my mineral makeup container sifter and put cotton in them when I travel!

Any tips for MAC pigments so I can stop spilling them??? I'm guessing putting them is a container with a sifter...any other ideas?

  • Thanks Koren, great tips.

  • Awesome!

Until now, I thought I couldn't travel with that stuff.

  • Thank you so much! This video was very helpful. I'd never thought of using cotton to control the mess!

Thank you, Koren! You are super smart and nice. Love yaaa!

  • Thanks so much for the awesome tip

  • what if the mineral makeup is already open, what should i do to lower the mess?

  • you are so smart Koren :)

  • Enkore you are the BOMB!

  • Hi, Probably this is not good to do but I also got tired of the mess. I pour some of the mineral powder into a tiny deeper glass dish and just leave it there. I use it everyday from there. I dip into it and swirl on the side of the dish and then to my face. I only have to pour more product out now and then and not every AM, in the dark of the AM.

  • U give the best info! U are my favorite guru on here!! Thank you so much for all of your helpful tips and tricks!

  • Thanks for these tips! The worst is mineral BLUSH! It get's all over my vanity. I'm always afraid my kitten is going to get up there then leave blush paw prints all over my carpet. Lol. So thank you again!

  • the cotton pad tip is so clever! good thinking...you need to work for a makeup company!

  • i do the also place a cotton ball in there, works great

  • hey thats pretty smart!!!!

    im gonna try that =D

  • darn it , I bought my bare escentuals yesterday and these tips were too late but ill use it next time :)

  • Oh, Koren. What ever would we do without your clever ways? -xo

  • love you

  • Thank you, you have saved my hands and surfaces!!!!

  • So helpful!! thanks

  • Koren!!! I could kiss you, you angel!! I love all your videos, but this has been the most helpful video for me by far! I've been vegan for 5 years and have since worn exclusively mineral make up. (mostly Larenim and Emani) I wish I could go back and put the sealers back on & do the pin hole idea haha. I will definitely use the tap technique and the cotton inserts. GREAT ideas! You've saved my countertop! Thank you so much!!!!

  • 5 stars Koren!!!

  • BRILLIANT! So not only did you save us a mess, but money to boot :) Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for the tips!

They helped me a lot :)

  • Can you give me any tricks of how to keep mineral foundation flawless. I have oily skin I try so many different companies. Look good in the morning but around 2:00 pm end up completely oily and cakey. Try different brands and primers but still have the same problem. I have acne prone skin and Im try to go more in to natural products but I might go back to liquid foundation.

  • always use a setting powder even it is mineral foundation. afteru apply ur liquid or powder foundation use a setting powder.

  • Awesome tips really helpful Thanks

  • Everyday minerals has sifters that you can slide close and open! :)

  • Heck yah! Don't you love it??!? I love my EDM closeable sifter jars!
