the artwork for this temple is extraordinarily visionary, but this society is lieing. As several others have mentioned, this was the work of an extraordinary man with help from his friends. It was built underground, and in secret. When the secret got out, the Italian government (or UN?) seized the temple and ordered him to complete his masterpiece. It wasn't made by a society of magicians, and it wasn't meant to promote god. It was the physical representation of the human subconscious.

The federation of Damanhur claims that this temple was built in honour of god. It was actually just a physical representation of the man's dreams, not dedicated to any supernatural entity. try reading more than just the first sentence of my post next time.

It was actually built by a man who as a boy had strange visions and wanted to turn what he had seen into real structures, and he and a few other men for fourteen years built into the side of the mountain with only tools and designed it, the only entrance supposedly was from his house.

This site was made by a man and his friends over a 14 year period based on his vision (based on his dreaming). It was not some god induced cause, it was not to educate others about some intangible universal wisdom, it was his own project which he was forced to share.

Frustrating when the ignorant make up stories to serve their own idealistic fantasies.

The artwork is amazing and the dream behind it. But as I have been doing research about it, for many ex-members that dream became a nightmare. Like many teachers and groups, once they start wrapping themselves with special identities, such as a reincarnation of some god or master, ET, or what not, egotism swells in the glamor. All that glitters is not gold. And some lights can be blinding. Discrimination is so needed with all teachers and groups.

Recent allegations of sex abuse and financial fraud have come out against Damanhur from former Damanhur citizens. Type in
