It took me 3 years to learn this kick with some power. Now, I practice kicking trees to get some more power! Your kicks look very pretty and beautiful!
First i was watching it like..ohhhh..okay...but then when she did it the second time in actual speed..i was..HOOOOLLLY HELL! THAT'S REALLY SICK!..hahaha..that was really awesome..xD
You'll get more structural power out of the sweep if you look at the sweeping foot and keep your head aligned with the foot all throughout the motion of the kick. You'll notice she pauses halfway through the sweep the first time because she doesn't keep the head/foot alignment. Try it and you'll feel the difference.
I used this technique from a hybrid greco-MT clinch, after setting up with neck wrestling throwing knees, and inserting Kenpo's 5 Swords. We were wearing MMA gloves and this technique worked very well.
@agonyra Right your only saying that Cause your a guy with something to prove and this demonstration was done by a woman, i can guarantee you that if you were in a fight against her not only will that move take you down she will make you piss your pants and send you crying to your mother
Actually, I'd have to agree with agonrya. This sweep is more of a "Show" sweep. When Mei-chiao Chiu did the sweep up to speed, you can literally see that she had no power behind it. Her sweep probably would not knock any standing opponent down. Which is good, because it's not really meant to.
Wu Shu is actually more of a sport, and as such they don't focus on combat practicality. Not to say that you couldn't use it in combat, it's just not really meant for it.
I'd even go so far as to say that a lot of Kung Fu isn't really for combat. A lot of Chinese arts (save for Wing Chun) tend to look amazing and genuinely entertaining to watch, but not so much combat practical.
If you're looking for combat practicality, look towards Japanese arts such is Judo, Aikido, Jujutsu and several others from Japan or that area. Japan is the mecha for combat efficient arts. Jeet Kune Do was also built entirely on the concept of winning an actual streetfight, as well.
@Onirayushizobura Jeet Kune Do isn't a martial art. People need to stop thinking it is. It's Bruce Lee's philosophy. Chinese martial arts are incredibly combat efficient if you're incredible good at them. It takes alot more time to gain skill than in the Japanese arts you mentioned. I know that learning Osoto Gari on your first gay of Judo is more 'pracitcal' than learning Move Hands Like Clouds on your first day of Tai Chi. And Aikido isn't good for real combat. No matter what anyone says.
I never said Jeet Kune Do was a martial art, I just said that it was built on the concept of winning an actual street fight. Whether or not most Chinese arts are combat efficient can be debatable depending on the context and the semantics, I'd say. I will agree with you that Japanese martial arts do take less time to learn than the more flashy, high flying Chinese arts, however.
@Onirayushizobura I can already tell you that most traditional martial arts are useless in a real fight. Look at those steps she did before-hand, you think an opponent is gonna give her an opening? No. You have to use only that which is useful if you want to survive a fight. You're better off taking Boxing than Wushu.
@Zero2562130 ummmm...yes it does: 1. in the beginning she goes into that deep stance to transfer her momentum forward into a push. 2. you go backwards with no control. 3. before you leave her striking distance, she circles around with the back of her leg and clips you behind your achilles tendon or calf. 4. you go down.
what are you not getting? the fact that she didn't jump into a full mount and put someone in an armbar? lol. that's not kung fu, man.
@Zero2562130 to say that an opponent wouldn't giver her a chance to gain the initial momentum is a little presumptuous. it depends on the timing of its application. i suppose it also depends on when and how you personally perceive this move being performed. this isn't meant to initiate combat. she's merely giving an isolated example of it. this sweep would be better used as a finishing move after a series of attacks.
@defiantwon33 To think that an opponent would even give her a chance to get into that stance with those fruity steps is pretty childish. The timing of its application? You can use any move as a suffix, it doesn't have to be a sweep, and it shouldn't if one is trying to fight off multiple opponents. That and her demonstration was pretty weak; it wouldn't knock down the opponent. Martial arts are not meant to initiate combat.
yes, the timing of its application - my reason for mentioning that the beginning of the move, "the fruity steps", into the push and the sweep should not be used to initiate combat - i.e., it should not begin a series of attack, but it should be utilized as the end of a series of attack; the preceding instance being a strike to the face, etc., so as to break the opponents concentration in order for those "fruity steps" (lol) to be used without interruption.
finally i think what you're failing to recognize is that you harbor a lot of negative opinions and blind contempt for an art you apparently have never tried yet "know" so much about, and, in spite of your ignorance, you attack 'kung fu'. however, if you were a true martial artist, you would know and understand that you don't fight a martial art....you fight a martial artist.
@Zero2562130 kenpo is a good art. i remember when i was in high school i saw jeff speakman in the perfect weapon. that dude was hella fast.
i also just looked at a kenpo turorial video and it looks like kenpo utilizes a lot of the same principles as kung fu, like qin na (grabs) and also just the overall 'sneakiness' of the art (from what i can see). good shit.
i study shaolin kung fu. it's what i've always wanted to learn.
@defiantwon33 It's not completely based off of Chin Na and Kung Fu, though. It's a hybrid of many other arts, such as Judo, Karate, Aikido, Boxing, Savate, Wrestling, Sambo, BJJ, etc.
@Zero2562130 yeah yeah. i was just saying that in the video that i watched i noticed that the teacher was utilizing grabs to pull his opponent into a strike, which is something we're taught in kung fu as well...all martial arts are brothers in nature so i was just highlighting a common denominator. i'm a little drunk right now so i apologize for not being too coherent. korean soju, man...gets me everytime. lol. stay up man. peace.
@shaunwonginator wushu is traditional kung fu. its definitely not all dancing. jet li movies dont look like dancing. and yes his fight scenes are performed on his own
@CNKzombie I didn't mean it was dancing as you might, dance with someone else, I meant that it is for performance. Wu Shu is not a Martial Art in the sense that you train to defend yourself, Wu Shu is a sport derived from Traditional Martial Arts, it was created after 1949. Yes, some of what you learn can be used to defend yourself. However not all can. I disagree with Zero2562130 though, Traditional martial arts was created with practical application, it isn't useless.
@shaunwonginator that is incorrect. "wu shu" is a martial term. in mandarin chinese it means literally "martial arts". however, in the wake of the worldwide martial arts explosion, it has changed into a show of forms and movements - like dance - and void of any martial intent. in your last sentence if you were to say "i disagree with ..... though, traditional 'wu shu' was created with....." you would be correct. jet li is a student of wu shu - that is to say, he is a martial artist.
@defiantwon33 I know that, I was using it in the Western or 'modern' context in which Wu Shu refers to the martial arts created after the Communist revolution in an attempt to unify all the Traditional Chinese Martial arts. Now, it has rules/regulations/standards etc. (Which puts a lot more emphasis on style than practical use).
Although I'm not 100% sure of the proper meaning, I normally use the term "Martial Arts" to mean "Fighting Art"
@CNKzombie but based on what jet li says about it all traditonal kung fu. styles such as northern longfist, tai chi, and eagle claw fist are designed for self defense. i learned eagle claw in karate
@milotictear No they're not. The only reason that it takes longer is because they're loaded with more bullshit than things you can actually use in a fight. Even though Aikido isn't the best, you're better off learning that than Praying Mantis or Wushu.
@Zero2562130 Dude,to the untrained eye what you said could be true in your mind..But when you become a greater martial artist you begin to understand it,and if you are a really good fighter not alone a very good martial artist you can be able to apply any martial art to a real life situation.
@jaylyn3 That is by far the biggest load of bullshit I have ever heard in my life. Name one real-life example of your statement. Not only that, but she had no proper base to her kick; it's more for show than anything else. If you actually took martial arts rather than spread pseudo-martial art creationist-inclined bullshit, you'd know that.
@Zero2562130 and since you said i am defending an outdated martial art go defend your mom and that bitch ho sister of yours old cobweb prostitute pussy
@jaylyn3 Think of your own insults for once. You're obviously insecure about your own homosexuality, so I suggest you talk to your counselor. By the way, I don't have a sister.
@rjniscool Not really. It shows that I can stick with my argument for as long as possible, a skill necessary in the real world unlike playing games for 10 hours straight. Considering the fact I registered before you, you're obviously more of a noob then I am. Tell me, does your skin burn in the sunlight every time you open the blinds?
@rjniscool Bullshit. Everything gets cooler around that time, not to mention you can't even get enough sunlgiht during that time. Go back to your Halo server, emo faggot.
@rjniscool@rjniscool That obviously doesn't make any difference, judging by your skin color. You're still on Halo 2? Wow, 10 hours of failure and counting. Good job. All 5 of those emos are all faggots, and I bet they hate you more than I do. It seems you don't even bring any solid evidence to the table and pathetically fail to support your own dumbass arguments. You couldn't kick my ass with 8 comments, what makes you think you can do it in 5 words? Cry more.
and i never said anything about my fucking skin color racist
those 10 hours of failure of what u think i pwned ppl on games
all of those 5 faggots you say are the emo types not real ppl just how they express themselves i didn;t bring shit
when i commented u and that other guy i was only saying not to fucking fight but your stupid hands take like 5 minutes this only took me a minute and a half wtf is up with you
@rjniscool Denial won't help you now. I never even said anything racist, dumbfuck. Listen in Science Class for once. If you count replaying the tutorial for 10 hours as pwnage. It's obviously a negative reaction from being weak. Don't worry, they still hate you. It takes 5 minutes because I actually care about my grammar, unlike you you dyslexic incompotent fuckwit. If you can't even find the caps lock button, then you probably shouldn't even be on the Internet. U so mad, I can see you crying.
@rjniscool No it doesn't. Read between the lines, shitwit. You're an emo, therefore it is mandatory that you cry. Right, because proper grammar that helps you get through school, into a good college and into a decent job is stupid. It was invented during the Greco-Roman era in order to place emphasis on a certain subject in text. It also helps make you seem more educated, something you obviously can't understand.
Stances/forms etc, generally don't have practical use (although of course some base stances do) But they're not supposed to, their aim is to simply increase your strength, and discipline (too an extent) Nowadays people don't have time to train for the required lengths of time (Hung Gar Kung Fu used to take 6 months - a year on stances before you learned fighting applications) And so most of that is cut out
my former teacher and i were discussing the jeet kun do philosophy and its dismissal of the traditional stances and what he said was, "the stances, if used well, are fundamental to kung fu being that they help to generate more power into your strikes." in shaolin kung fu you don't stay in one stance but transition through them.
however, they do take a long time to master being that many martial artists, when in a fight, generally resort back to standard boxing and bitch slapping. lmao.
@legionare117 "Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own" -Bruce Lee, I've seen several martial arts, and Kenpo has always topped as the most useful self-defense system. That's not to say others don't come close. Krav Maga, Boxing, Jujitsu, BJJ, Jeet Kune Do, and even Wrestling have all come close to being as good as Kenpo. If you want to learn a martial art for the sake of learning it, fine, but don't expect it to save your life in a real fight.
@Onirayushizobura i think perhaps you're failing to notice that in the beginning she's going into a deep stance and pushing out with her hands. there are a lot of these kinds of moves in kung fu: slaps to the face with the intent of jarring you in order to break your concentration for a more powerful strike; pushes that knock you off balance just a little (or a lot) so that a successful sweep can be applied. this sweep is practical and can be very effective when done at the right time, imo.
Remember that this kick is best used when your opponent kicks high. So my guess is that when your opponent kicks you either grab his foot or throw it away and then perform the sweep.
That kick was so fast, I got a seizure from watching it.

@defiantwon33 1. The opponent would not give her a chance to gain that momentum.
2. The wide stance leaves her very vulnerable.

4. See 3

@jaylyn3 Think of your own insults for once. You're obviously insecure about your own homosexuality, so I suggest you talk to your counselor. By the way, I don't have a sister.
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 and your mom is concerned about your homosexuality

@jaylyn3 Oh, you mean the one that doesn't exist?
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 sorry i meant your dads
jaylyn3 1 year ago
@jaylyn3 Consider the fact that I exist, your argument is invalid.

@Zero2562130 seriously?
you got no life kid
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool And you don't know shit about martial arts, so I guess we're even.
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 better be cuz talking shit on a fucking video on how to be trained blabla bla seriously
you fought for 2 freaking pages thats crazy
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool And you replied why?
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 because you got no life fighting for 2 pages on youtube.....dude thats too crazy
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool Then why would you reply to someone who has no life? Seems like you have less of it than I do.
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 that might be true
but fighting for 2 pages is more a no life
i play certain games for 10 hours straight
you?......
just fight on a stupid ass video
and for what reason to? this is supossed to calm down your noobyness
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool Not really. It shows that I can stick with my argument for as long as possible, a skill necessary in the real world unlike playing games for 10 hours straight. Considering the fact I registered before you, you're obviously more of a noob then I am. Tell me, does your skin burn in the sunlight every time you open the blinds?
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 no cuz i go the pool ussaly during 6 o clock cuz it gets extremely hot here
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool Bullshit. Everything gets cooler around that time, not to mention you can't even get enough sunlgiht during that time. Go back to your Halo server, emo faggot.
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 i forgot to say its still freaking sunny out their
and i like the pool kinda cold not to freaking warm i dont know about you
and a matter of fact halo 3 is the one im trying to get but i dont play halo till igte halo 3
and who cares about emo's theirs more thn 5 kinds of em
under your estimation you fight everything and try to make it seem all true
and i bet i can kick your ass just by typeing 5 words making it sound embarrasing to you so gtfo out stupid kid caps dont prove...
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool @rjniscool That obviously doesn't make any difference, judging by your skin color. Cry more.
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 i never said i had halo 2 nor 1
and i never said anything about my fucking skin color racist
those 10 hours of failure of what u think i pwned ppl on games
all of those 5 faggots you say are the emo types not real ppl just how they express themselves i didn;t bring shit
when i commented u and that other guy i was only saying not to fucking fight but your stupid hands take like 5 minutes this only took me a minute and a half wtf is up with you
a kid who think hes poerwful by cap
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool Denial won't help you now. I never even said anything racist, dumbfuck. Listen in Science Class for once. If you count replaying the tutorial for 10 hours as pwnage. It's obviously a negative reaction from being weak. Don't worry, they still hate you. It takes 5 minutes because I actually care about my grammar, unlike you you dyslexic incompotent fuckwit. If you can't even find the caps lock button, then you probably shouldn't even be on the Internet. U so mad, I can see you crying.
Zero2562130 1 year ago
@Zero2562130 i know u never said u were but in the channel comments it sais your a racist and i never cry
no matter what circumstances UNLIKE i can find the caps button its just stupid
think about it
think how the letters got created, think what the UPPERCASE was ment for
i dont think u can explain that
rjniscool 1 year ago
@rjniscool No it doesn't. Read between the lines, shitwit. You're an emo, therefore it is mandatory that you cry. Right, because proper grammar that helps you get through school, into a good college and into a decent job is stupid. It was invented during the Greco-Roman era in order to place emphasis on a certain subject in text. It also helps make you seem more educated, something you obviously can't understand.

@Zero2562130
Stances/forms etc, generally don't have practical use (although of course some base stances do) But they're not supposed to, their aim is to simply increase your strength, and discipline (too an extent) Nowadays people don't have time to train for the required lengths of time (Hung Gar Kung Fu used to take 6 months - a year on stances before you learned fighting applications) And so most of that is cut out

my former teacher and i were discussing the jeet kun do philosophy and its dismissal of the traditional stances and what he said was, "the stances, if used well, are fundamental to kung fu being that they help to generate more power into your strikes." in shaolin kung fu you don't stay in one stance but transition through them.
however, they do take a long time to master being that many martial artists, when in a fight, generally resort back to standard boxing and bitch slapping. lmao.

@Zero2562130 If you take someone to a gym once. And he doesn't get stronger, does that mean weights are useless?
shaunwonginator 11 months ago
@shaunwonginator that's a good point, man. these northern shaolin stances are friggin killing me.

@Onirayushizobura i think perhaps you're failing to notice that in the beginning she's going into a deep stance and pushing out with her hands. there are a lot of these kinds of moves in kung fu: slaps to the face with the intent of jarring you in order to break your concentration for a more powerful strike; pushes that knock you off balance just a little (or a lot) so that a successful sweep can be applied. this sweep is practical and can be very effective when done at the right time, imo.

probably i bet everyone else in the world could do it to lol

what is the stomp for. Is it to throw your enemy off for a second then sweep them?
jraybay 2 years ago
Remember that this kick is best used when your opponent kicks high. So my guess is that when your opponent kicks you either grab his foot or throw it away and then perform the sweep.

or you can hook and pull out both legs, which i chanced upon, not even trying to do it, in a fight
