  • What could've caused the static noise? Sony machines, especially pre-1982, tend to become filled with static after 10 years because of improper PCB lamination that crackles over time and catches humidity, creating dangerous conductive links.

  • Its in the records. Never heard anything quite like it. I have a decent McIntosh system and never had that proplem before. The records make the same noise on other equipment. I can see the groove damage with a 30X magnifier. I also experiment with stylus sizes from 1 to 3.5 mil. It made some difference.
