This part pissed me off so bad ... i was on a no alerts completion and I was caught so i had to reload the game twice and the 2 times the saves didnt work so i had to start back from the begining of the vista mansion which really pissed me off ... i'm probably just talking nonsense, but i kinda see his point; sneak attacks can get repetitive and boring after a while to a point where you'd just feel like charging in guns blazing. however, you're going after the no-alert achievement so it can't be helped. personally, if i had to choose between stealth and constant on-your-toes fighting, i'd pick stealth.

Infact, I always play without getting any alerts. If there is one, I simply reload. Who the hell wants to do a level with an alert phase in progress anyway? (Since enemies constantly respawn). Then there's that annoying caution phase. Easier just to reload.

I would also like to add, that you were right in that using stealth all the time may want to make you go in with all guns blazing. And the fact is, when there is an alert phase (it's inevitable lol) you can keep killing guards until you:

1. Die

2. Run out of ammo then die

3. Go on a killing spree and then go and hide until the alert phase finishes.

Obviously, I did the first two quite a lot. But to preserve the no alerts record, you have to go to the title screen and reload.

monks311, it is exactly like MGS3. But what cancels the alert phase depends on the number of guards and the area you are in. If you have only one guard in an area, the alert phase will cancel once you kill him. Unless the guy on the radio sends in more guards to investigate, which in turn can lead to a caution phase. But that doesn't always happen.

If you played MGS2 (or if you search for "Colonel Campbell Craziness" on youtube), you'll find that the real Colonel Campbell never said this himself--it was a purely virtual facsimile created by the GW AI in MGS2, working off the nanomachines in Raiden's head.

Snake never heard it himself, and Raiden couldn't have recorded it, so aside from the reference to aliens here it doesn't make sense why Snake would "remember" something he never experienced in the first place.

Mazryonh, it is not explicitly implied that Snake is listening to these flashbacks. We just hear the flashbacks and so it would seem, that they are there for our benefit.

If you think of it like that, then it doesn't have to make sense that Snake is present during this particular flashback (and not Raiden).

Although, according to the codec conversations, Raiden is shadowing Snake, so he is present ... kinda.
