Why can't we be friends? For the same reason I don't trust most mega-corporations and their products. Besides it says the dominant OS's among servers are Unix-based so this not only includes Linux but others like Solaris, *BSD, HP/UX, etc.

I guess I counted BSD with Linux, it generally appears in Linux sites like Distrowatch & has a similar community to Linux, technically it's not linux admittedly. Linux & Unix have a common root but again are different. I guess my point was that Microsoft is not only a poor OS in terms of real performance/ stability, I also don't like the company in terms of how it wields its power - eg it's bully boy law suits.

@jerrytaichi Windows with stability problems? In the 95 and 98 era it was definitely very unstable. But every Windows that is NT based (2000, Xp, Vista, 7, etc) is rock solid. And i agree that Microsoft is kind of a bully sometimes but so is Apple, IBM, Intel, etc. Just look at for example IBM, that company has some connections with the nazi party in Germany and with the exterminations of Jews. Other companys with child labour in Asia (Microsoft included). So Microsoft is just another company.

A mate of mine set up linux in an internet cafe in Amsterdam. 2 years later, same distro, same machine, owner had not touched it, ran as on day 1 (can't see XP ever doing that). Have you tried linux? My guess is that one of two things is going on. The less likely of the two first:

(1) Microsoft is going to try to capture some Linux market share by offering a reasonably priced, easy to configure, VM encouraging people to run Linux on Windoze. They can always jack the price up later.
