As for the characters, I would call only Vladimir Korf character cold especially in the beginning. This comes together with him being arrogant, cruel, and snob. Notice how Anna changes Vlad later. On the other hand, Misha and Alexander are pretty sunny :).

yes, Filipenko is well respected, old school actor. He is also very much a theater actor, have been in many plays. Same goes for Olga Ostroymova. Yeah, I agree the Tanya's storyline is pretty romantic and tragic. However, creators should have chosen a different actress for Tanya's role, al least one that can actually act.
