@jad3948 i don't know as far a a performance boost, but i used to have/use my PS2 for everything frm just listning to CDs to playing games hours n hours on end, n befor i could feel slight heat on the side of my case where the fan is now, which was due to my fan failing i later found out, but replaced that and added the new 1 ontop with a variable resistor and swich, so either when just playing CD or night have it off or low or gaving a mid-high if i ever feel the need in the summer
@02watsot also i take it u also took ur 12v power suply straight frm the power board, i'v done that as well but as u can see put a lil swich and variable resistor in line, makes it lot easier and quieter =]
if ya ever taken the fat ps2 apart there is cooling fins under that part so i put that top fan blowing in and the rear is still sucking out so i get greater air flow over the fins to keep it cooler

Do u actually get a performance boost from the fan cooling, or does it lower performance because of the drain from the power supply?
