  • do you make a raised spring plate for a 1974 Thing?

  • What's the best way to get more tension on the plate? I have a sand rail with the same set up. Due to use it overly sags.

  • @MrDoobious68 To get more torsion on the spring plates you would need to position the spring plate a little lower and then load it. Think of it like a rat trap. If you want to make the trap more powerful then you need to either pull it back further or torque the spring more.

  • Yes that is correct. Volkswagen had to use thicker torsion bars to increase the stiffness. I am working on bus plates next.

  • Is this the same with buses? just different sizes.

  • Can you flip them over to raise it for the Baja guys? I'm looking for a way to raise mine without having to sacrifice major camber angle by putting more torsion on the springs..

  • Atomwerk makes raise plates for raised applications that are calculated. Technically you could reverse a drop plate to make it a raise plate, however this would twist the shock mount slightly out of location.

If you are interesting in correcting the camber, we have an adjustable camber unit (ACU) that will soon be available. The ACU also uses these plates. With the raise plates and the ACU your rear suspension would be complete.
