The esrb isn't law protected the stores make rules like that (like the person below me said). But if your talking about the online interactions not being rated that's different. Like little big planet has online but rated E. They can't rate someone with a mic cursing at you. The online is rated you can't have an E rated single player and then multiplayer is like a massacre.
You guys do know that if a M rated game has Online Multiplayer it's legal for even a 2 year old to play right? ESRB does not rate the Multiplayer, they only rate the Campaign. So technically all of us young people can play online games no matter what they're rated.
@guyanaboi122 I know. Same here I went to EB Games/ Gamestop the other day to buy Assassins Creed II and I am a 11 year old. They told me has "bad things" in it. My parents told me to choose a different game and I chose Call of Duty 4. The guy told me that was a fine game considering it was only shooting. They are both rated M.
It's not the esrb that exacerbates sexual and violent ideas in videogames its the media. if people like jack thompson didn't exist, and sony, microsoft, and nintendo didn't censor AO rated titles, we wouldn't have a problem with it. imo, you bring up a good point with pokemon, although CoD has more blood and violence. Same deal when you bring up the news.
Every generation has a highly criticized form of entertainment
unfortunately for a lot of us, this generation's is videogames
honestly i think a small message at the cover of the box saying the contents of the game is enough. even if you're gonna rate every game mature, kids are still gonna buy it with their parents without them actually noticing the ESRB

Wow, you have no idea what war is do you. There are no real villains in war. You're whole opinion and attempt at rationalization shows exactley how immature you are. You have this romanticized idea thats been fed to you by movies and other forms of media, that there is a clear villain and that there is a clear hero all the time. In War, there is no such thing. You have men and women fighting for what they believe in on both sides. Good god you silly little child. Patton is rolling in his grave.
Ok first of all, Yeah I'm younger then you, but that shouldn't change how you look at my opinion. My cousin just got back from Iraq for his second time, after being shot in the chest and being hit by a dirty bomb. I know what fucking war is, and to have you make an asshole comment on my video is unfathomable, because you are wasting time trying to teach me a lesson I have knows for a long time now.
agreed. i mean for war games itself, what would u expect to hear from soldier's mouthes. there not going to be mr. nice guy. there pissed off so yeah. and there is blood when people die by guns. u can just turn on the news and see soldiers fighting and blowing up. thats pretty bad. and then on the news theres news of rape or very violent murders. thats bad too. esrb are supposed to be guidlines not rules or laws.
I'd almost say it's just as bad to watch a news article about the war in Iraq (Send their asses back home!) where you see people with guns shooting as if you were playing Cod4.
Agreed, video games are a form of entertainment, just like a tv show, not a toy. However parents let their kids watch South Park, yet they think a Teen game is bad because it has "Mild Violence".

I think there's enough strong language on school and enough gore on sadistic poems in English classes, stuff having to be with murder.
I think you can get games via newegg if you have a credit card, without having to go through the BS at game stores.
