I like this because this is what I would see if I managed to get off work and travel to this place. Seeing something unreal and then the dark shadow of a head and then the thing again is very effective to convey presence at the event. Good job I think. The surf doesn't look that big to some people cause your not filming in the water. Look up any Mav's video that' shot in the water and they will get the picture better. yea many goes off on the right days. im sure you have heard of fresh water beach just up the road from manly. that also has some amazing days. then there are a few secret spots. If your not to scared surfing into a cliff face there are some crazy breaks in between bondi and maroubra beach. They only work when the swell is over 6 ft. there is nothing like mavericks on the east coast in sydney. Western Australia is where the quality is at.

Hey don't hate. This was my first visit to Mavs and was blown away. To some people this may not be the hugest of the huge, but I know I wouldn't personally go in. Tried my best to capture the intensity with a jimmy-rigged mono-pod and early digital cam. Just trying to put out a vidi that captures the feel. Maybe some surf-scientist out there can look up the historical data for that time and confirm just how big it was...

I agree with Golions1989 but later in the viddy there are some waves that are damn close to huge- and for the folks in there-mavericks has an unusually Thick wave for california, much like the fat thick waves of hawaii-if you've riden both ,a fat wave has a surprising amount of hold-you-under power once youre in "the Washing Machine" .....getting almost killed is also surprisingly fun.
