This a cool regional dance from the state of Michoacan. I am proud to be from that part of Mexico. Michoacan is culturally speaking the richest state in Mexico. Arriba Michoacan and the Purepecha people.
Beautiful culture and a strong people with tens of thousands of years on this continent and a great deal of time making the US economy viable. Actually, just recently, we had a Purepecha in space! The issue is that due to the sociopolitical and economic pressures and the oppressive caste system of the colonial age, many lost the language. Similar to later generations of Mexican Americans losing their inherited language of Spanish.

@Chabiens777 hey your in seattle?, i have a friend who want to relearn the language! but she doesnt know any, but the funny thing is she was in seattle, but then mooved,, she might come back, but i still wanna help her find people, write me yes? im in seattle
Hey What's up people..well I just wanna say that Im Purhepecha de Corazon y de Nacimiento. And Im so proud of being it..also I can dance all of them dances and Speak Purhepecha.
in traditional "Danza de los viejitos" which is what they are showing there are no girl dancers
only men dance in a old guy mask and custome in a very synchronized and sophisticated formations, a few men wear girl masks these guys are usually gay persons from the village or community, i know all this stuff i am a Purepecha and have lived in mexico in this nation. what you see on the video is just a demostration, and a vague one.
I don't remember the "crossdressers" as being gay, every village has a slight variation on who may participate with regards to each specific costume. In San Lorenzo the "old men" where only men, but the male cross dressers where usually teenagers causing mischief. It was expected for male cross dressers to steal laundry or act obnoxious, but none of them were gay. Normally the mask worn by the cross dresser was a male one too. Huchari Uinapakua!
