The theory is, if you give the viewer the opportunity to make his own assessment of the deer they feel more involved in the hunt..... the more variety of shots you give them of the deer, surroundings, and possible scenarios will help draw them in. As a viewer, when you point to the blood trail, I'd like to see what you see.
