Ok, i love Kingdom Hearts and as a major fan, i consider myself to be somewhat of a guru. Riku is never evil. He just despises Sora in a competetive way (sorta like Goku and Vegeta for all those who know dragon ball z). He is possessed by Ansem (now xenahort) and turned against sora because xenahort was able to find the slightest sense of jeleaosy in Riku about how Sora is the chosen keybearer/wielder. This is all the xenahort needs and POW!!!, you have a possessed Riku.

He doesn't really turn evil, he is taken over by the darkness. In KH1, in Hallow Bastion, he thies to stop the evil heartless (Xhenort's heartless)from hurting Dolnald, Goofy, and Kiari. It's easier to understand once you play the games. Hope I helped!
