Zeppelin ripped of Smokey Robinson. MF was pissed off about it and recorded their version of Mickey's Monkey to show everyone that Zeppelin ripped off Smokey! But it back-fired b/c nobody who listened to Zepp at the time knew anything about Smokey and Mickey's Monkey and therefore thought MF ripped off Zepp! They (MF) had to go public and explain, but ti still didn;t convince enough people or THIS STILL WOULD NOT BE DISCUSSED IN 2011... 34 yrs later!!!!!!

This was a mashup before a mashup was called a mashup. Instrumental track is Led Zeppelin's "Custard Pie" with the melody/lyrics of "Mickey's Monkey." Freakin' BRILLIANT. One of my all time faves.

@sanjhunt CWIZE was right. It's a mashup. Mother's Finest took Mickey's Monkey from Smokey, but they took the licks from Led Zeppelin's Custard Pie. Smokey was/is pure genius but his version from 1963 didn't sound anything like this.

Mother's Finest Another Mother Further released 1977. Now put this in Google "led zeppelin custard pie from Mother's finest" and look a the top 5 links that say the EXACT opposite of what you've stated.

Seen them a couple of times when I was younger in the 70's. They were the BEST warm up BAND EVER!!!... They BLEW all the Main Acts OUT!!! They constantly keep your head bobbing. You could'nt really dance to their music but you sure FELT IT!!!...
