Oberon was big but not oversized like some ferrets I've seen. Maybe you mean Cody. As far as the other ferrets are concerned Cody is one of them so in a way he is a giant ferret. His only problem with them is they gang up on him and he likes to play with just one at a time. He's a sweetie though and backs off to let them expend their energies on each other instead of him.
Thanks for taking a look Duke. Hope you got to see my latest addition Sage in his debut "Aspen and Sage, more ferrets at play". They truly are are a hoot and a half.
That is so cute. I miss my aussie. I had one and he passed away 5 years ago, they said from a birth defect of the kidneys. You have a beautiful aussie.
Well DB, I'm so sorry for the loss of your adored Aussie. They are a great breed. Intelligent, loving, extremely devoted to their "shepherd" and pretty too. Rescued him from the pound when he was 1yo. Can't tell ya how many people want my Cody to be a girl because of his colorful brindle coat. The white ferret who he is playing with was my beloved Oberon. A real sweetheart too. My other ferrets and I are still getting over not having him around. I've OK'd your friend request.
I didn't realize that Oberon was not with you any longer. I am so sorry for your loss as well. I know you will not ever forget Oberon. Time does help. Thank-you for accepting my friend request.
What a sweet friendly video. How comfortable they all seem. I've always wanted ferrets, but they're illegal up here in New England. When I was a kid I had lots of guinea pigs, mice, hamsters, gerbils, but no ferrets, unfortunately. If I ever get up your way you'll have to introduce me to them.
I believe that to a good extent pets reflect their owners personalities. All my pets get along great with each other as well as other people. I like to think that's a good reflection of me.
If you are ever swinging my way I'd be glad to intro you to my little menagerie. Be nice to meet you face-to-face.
I agree. I've never had a bad pet, or one that was mean. Every pet I've ever had was trained with love, never struck, never noosed. Never had any problems with any of my pets. Well, maybe the rescued owl who was angry about not being able to fly again (shot in the wing by a hunter). I started out handfeeding it until it on a whim bit a perch in half with very little effort. Biting my finger off would have been nothing. After that I decided not to feed it by hand. Used a long handled implement.
Yeeouch, that woulda hurt. We have to remember that wild is after all, well wild. Tameness has been bred into naturally aggresive creatures so that they can assoiate more comfortably with humans. The extreme example recently is Siegfried and Roy with their big cats. I'm sure they loved them and they were as well trained as could be but when that wild instinct kicks in, look out. Frankly, I am leery of any bird bigger than a parakeet, and I'm not too keen on them either.
When I was a kid and very ill I played with and trained my parakeets and canaries to do skits. One was Fire Rescue. I made a popsiclestick burning building with a swaddled baby on the top floor. The parakeet "firemen" arrived with their little firehats on, put a ladder against the building, went up it and rescued the little baby, put it in a popsiclestick baby carriage and pushed it to safety with their beaks. I had a lot of time.
I had a lot of "wild" animals as a child, mostly rescued. One was a fox which I named Sredni Vashtar Cereberus I (as if there was going to be a II!). It's eyes weren't even open when my father found it with it's dead mother. It imprinted on me and I was the only one it would let hold or pet it. Even with that, if I just reached over and petted it on the back instinct kicked in and it would turn suddenly and snap at me. Never forget wild animals always have wildness in them.
The ferrets are all like that. To a ferret the world belongs to them. They are very persistant when they want attention, from man or beast. Until they get distracted by something new. Very social little critters.
Naw, he loves them. Could kill them in a split second if he wanted to. They're pals and get along just fine. I have a cat also but he's pretty camera shy.
That's the biggest ferret I've ever seen!

Yvette,
I will probably think of parakeets with firehats all day at work today. Too funny.

Yvette,
That was quite a moniker for such a small animal. But who am I to talk. I name my ferrets after characters in A Midsummer Nights Dream.
Yeah, Bambi can be very cute but hoofs and horns can be lethal. I'd rather keep my respectful distance. I'm sure most of them prefer that too.

hey, how are they feeling now?

Hi David,
They are all doing quite well. It's Bebe's turn for a checkup and shots at the vet next week. I'm sure she'll be a big hit there.

Looks like Oberon doesn't take a no for an answer when wanting to play. Great video.
