  • @brucedanton Actually filmed on Hastings Pier, I should know, I live near there, and used to go on it all the time in the late 80's.

  • This was actually filmed on the Palace Pier at Brighton in Sussex, England, not the West Pier there that did indeed burn down, sadly.

O'LAmour is a great song, I like both the Erasure and the Dollar versions of it here.

Thank you for the posting-well done!

  • @brucedanton This was filmed on Hastings Pier in 1987 from what i can find on the internet.

  • Always fancied a dirty weekend with Therese Bazaar.

It's not happened yet, still never mind eh !

  • @imissthe80s100 I want a dirty weekend with this bird as well,when u get her number,msg me!!

  • Didn't that pier burn down ??

  • The Ritz, Manchester 1982!!!

  • Erasure wrote and had a hit with it but Dollar covered it and had a bigger hit in the UK

  • I think it would be better if Dollar and Erasure would have done a Smashup of this song--I like some parts of Dollar's version and some parts of Erasure's.

  • So who wrote the pissing thing then Erasure or Dollar? Probably neither of them I bet...

  • @eXPerienceyeah Erasure (Vince Clarke and Andy Bell) wrote it.

  • @eXPerienceyeah Erasure (Vince Clarke and Andy Bell) wrote it.

  • I liked Erasure but really liked this version better.

  • @TheRichardo1 Dont feel bad,so did Andy & Vince, said it a few times in interviews, that this is the way it should have been made :-)

  • bits of this video were also used in orbital -style.....

  • I prefer the Erasure version but this really isn't bad. Not my favourite Dollar song though - Videotheque is probably their best

  • Thought is was Hastings. Why has the uploader said that it's from Brighton?!

  • It is Hastings pier , a brief glimpse of the seafront gives it away more than the pier itself!

  • The more I look at this video, the more it reminds me of Hastings Pier. Do u have proof that it is Brighton Pier? I used to go to Hastings Pier alot in the late 80's, and it looks exactly the same!

  • Takes me back to when i first met my partner.....happy happy times....we are still togther!!!

  • great song, brings back happy memories

  • Just watched David Van Day on C4's "Coach Trip". Poor old DVD , that lassy from Buck's Fizz came on and said she "despised " him........Camp entertainment like this song . I never knew there was another version apart from the Erasure one

  • For all my love of Erasure, frickin David & Thersa did it better. he's such a GAK and she's a Blue-Blonde-Yak. but goddammit they did it well.

  • Pure camp at its campest! No wonder it was such a hit in the gay clubs in the 80's.

  • Nothing gonna be Like the 80`s

  • Awesome!!! Too bad they were never big here in the states...

  • zajebista piosenka

  • god i love dollar their lps are on cd in january, i hope they do some new songs

  • Andy Bell and Vince Clarke "ERASURE" wrote this amazing song together for their album debut called WONDERLAND..they have made the best versions for Oh L'amour ever...Dollar just made a good cover but the original version always will be the BEST!!!! Erasure rules!!!!

  • dollar is the best

  • I really like this version, it's almost as good as Erasure's which is one of my all time favorites behind Yaz (Yazoo)

  • Excellent version, equally as good as the original. You would not have thought that this would be Dollar's Swan song

  • Excellent sound!

  • Som de primeira .. é de balançar o esqueleto.

  • Was this filmed at Brighton beach?

  • Erasure rule!!!!!!!

Dollar were good in their day

  • Vince Clarke wrote this ! 1 of the best song writers the uk as ever had and Martin Gore from Depeche Mode !

  • I would not mind a cuddle under that coat David!

  • who did this first?

    erasure or dollar?

  • Erasure wrote it !!!

  • erasure 1986

    dollar 1987

  • It was vince clark of Erasure

Erasure also had a lot of chart sucess.

  • God I feel old:

The song first appeared in Erasure's Wonderland album in 1986. The two members of Erasure wrote the song together in one of their first collaborative efforts with Andy Bell penning the lyrics and Vince Clarke (formerly of Depeche Mode and Yazoo fame) taking on the musical aspect.

Many bands have re-done Oh L'Amour over the years including Silent Waters, Sinatic, Nova, Are You Sure and others.

As a hard-core Erasure fan, I was actually very impressed with Dollar's version.

  • ERASURE absolutely...1985-1986 WONDERLAND

  • i like this video

  • Nice video David and Thereza who made it?

  • Yeah, what's a Boy in love supposed to do?

This is classy "DiscobubblegumPop" and If you haven't noticed the 80's and 90's are now back !

  • 80s, class times, when only the best

    tunes groups made it,

    unlike now

  • Forgot about this song class 80s music

  • Quality song- bring back the 80's!

  • poor david when he had nichola with him poor him those big fake balloons of hers

  • my heart throb as a teenager go stick a pin in nicolas only talent her big ugly bazzukas!!

  • Very nice song indeed! Cheers to the 80's!

  • Thereze was (and probably still is) sex on legs

  • Totally agree re Thereze, she awakened me! ;-)

  • I've always loved this song. I love David Van Day - he is so funny and doesn't give a fook! Hope he wins the jungle as he has been so entertaining!!

  • love d van dyke he's king of the jungle

  • aw PROMO version :)

  • This is a great song and a great version, but I'm surprised the Erasure version wasn't a hit. I think it's even better than this. Thanks for posting!

  • cloth ears

  • I don't think so...covers will never be better than original versions!!! ERASURE Rules...cause they are the creators and master minds behind this...cheers!!!

  • This is the origonal artist, its a remix erasure did the cover.

    Peace

    Foxy

  • @Foxyon55 Sorry but this is Erasure all the way, it was their song first.

  • @Candyfan993. You're correct. It's on the Album, "Wonderland." Wrote by Vince Clarke.

  • Its just harmless pop mate, it aint Beethoven or the Beatles but it aint a crime to have played on it. Get over yourself!

  • This was my favourite Dollar song......... Quality!!!

  • That is HASTINGS Pier. I lived in Hastings for 17 years, and I have been living in Brighton for 3. It is Hastings Pier.

  • Yea, that's hastings pier. I am the other guy in the video, the one with the glasses.

  • I love both this and Erasure's version but maybe this one is slightly better ;)

  • Yep doesnt look like Brighton to me, there is sand at low tide Brighton but its mostly dark and sludgy. If Brighton could only be the West Pier and that was shut back then and even if they got it open for a shoot the railings are wrong.

  • No way is this Brighton, the pier there is massive and has a funfair at the end. It might be up the coast at Hastings.

  • Where are they from??

  • uk , this is a cover of erasure version, Dollar - check out Mirror mirror, and Give me back my heart, good songs

  • Quite a catchy piece of work I must say.

  • I was living in the UK when this recording WAS a big success; on the juke boxes and such. I never found out much about them.

I was going home_ back to Texas. They were doing alot of touring.

Great time to be in the UK musically. Always remembered the band Dollar_never saw them, but loved this song. 19 years later, I come across this...wow.

  • Bought this one on 12" vinyl from Our Price I think it was back then! Still in the collection! Tune! Cor the good old days of being able to buy records and having a record deck on the midi system!!! Superb!

  • Love this song, havent heard this song in years........ love the 80's

  • Great song, good video.

  • luv this video

  • I am a megga Erasure fan but yes perhaps this version is slightly better than Erasure's original.

  • Lot lot better than erasure

  • This is a loads better version than Erasure's

Brings back lots of good memories

  • without a doubt, this version by Dollar is better!

  • Like the dollar version better, but can't find a karaoke version, so I have to sing the erasure version

  • Hi julieann1978. Yeah, I'm following you around. :D No, really now, I wouldn't do that to you!

I think both versions are pretty good, but I

like erasure's version a little bit better. Sorry. :P LOL! :D

  • I remember this son when it came out..god, that was YEARS ago :)

  • Is that Hastings Pier?

  • No, it's Brighton pier.

  • I'm believeing you its Brighton, cos I don't know any better, but am suprised the beach looks too sandy - I thought Brighton was all pebbles

  • so, not what it would at first appear...

    ahem

  • yes this is a great track. I would go to a dollar concert. If there isnt a dollar fan club, fancy setting up one. Mirror mirror is certainly a great track also.
