Yes, sometimes feminists say stupid things but one can't generalize about them because of that. Just a few minutes ago I've heard a feminist say that "evolutionary psychology... quite a bit of it... is bullshit" at a conference. Picture that! An entire and very promising field of psychology (or "quite a bit of it", whatever that means) is bullshit.
She also might be gratuitously adding a feminist push. She presents douching as being motivated by an idea of making women good enough for men. Maybe it was, maybe not. Given the apparent strangeness of a regularly blood-producing organ and the tendency to infection, there is an understandable honest motive, prior to better understanding of the causes, to think that flushing it out might have been a good idea.
But she insists on the women-hater angle for the frontal enema.
I am not quite sure what is the point of the "douche" routine. Why label it as "feminism"? OK, douching is unnecessary and maybe even harmful, like so many traditional and misguided practices. Why not just come out and say that, instead of labeling it? We don't argue for a focus on "masculinism" when debunking fake penis enlargement pills, we just call it bullshit and move on.
