the afghans love these things, I've actualy shot one and I can tell you they kick ass there was this one COP we whent by sometimes where the taliban shot a DSHK at it from the forested mountain across the way about 1200m away but they had the T&E locked down tight and never moved the gun so all the rounds throught many attacks all landed in the same 20ft area and just shot the hell out of this one hesco wall eventualy some smartass wrote on it with red spray paint THIS IS WHERE THE BULLETS LAND

yes, well the replacement .50BMG turret fired both bullets & w/ a separate barrel grenades. the only reason why such a prototype didn't completely replace the m2 is 'cause its too expensive, whereas the m2 is cheaper; & more reliable.

As far as i'm concerned the DShK,DShKM,NSV & KORD r 12.7x108mm Rimmed not 107 or 109, abit bigger than the NATO 12.7x99mm .50 BMG. Althaugh the DShKM is old like the Browning M2HB .50cal i really love them both :) Awesome range, punch & firepower. BADASS WEAPON

Funny thing is that the 7.62x54mm rimmed round you speak of outperformes the American 30-06, the British .303 and the German 7.92x57mm Mauser, not to mention the 5.56x45mm NATO by quite a bit. id much rather be shot at by an M-16, M-14 or an M-1 Garand than a Mosin Nagant M91/30 or a Tokarev SVT-40. if it works well then why stop using it? same goes for the .50 Browning. The 7.62x54mmR wasnt made for use in automatic weapons so they dont, but in rifles its a very good round.
