Preaching sin, righteousness, and judgment certainly pleases Him, because that is being His witness.
To be married to the divorced is adultery.
True Christians fight sin. They do not stoop to involvement in worldly wars or politics, because they are a part of another kingdom. And do you know what? You are one or the other.
What a blessing! And isn't it just typical of a Pharisee, to accuse the preacher of truth, of wrong ethics and immaturity? Yes, the corrupt evangelical system of today has become very MATURE! That's when God reaps - when things get mature. Calvinism and Armenianism have been argued in the comments. But Jesus' followers worry more about pleasing Him than anything else. And preaching sin, righteousness and judgment (the Spirit's message to this world, and therefore the Christian's message) certai
ANNNNNNT ! Wrong ! The Bible is not filled with absolute truth ? Are you kidding me ? I suppose you just pick and choose which parts to believe ? If it's not absolutely true than ALL of it must be questioned . Nobody who knows the Bible ever said God created man for His wrath either .
I swear, do you people not know what the word "satire" means? This entire thing is satirical. The message is that the "God is love in all circumstances" is garbage. It's a what Jesus referred to as a "false" gospel. Pouring honey in your ears to make you feel good and justified in your sin. Yes, God loves you, and yes, God wants you to be reconciled to him, but His holiness is offended by your sin and you sin must be atoned for in order for you to come into His presence.
I appreciate what you are trying to say but do you not see that there are serious problems with the gospell message as it is traditionally preached. Do you believe for instance that billions who have never heard nor logisticaly can never hear the message are subjected to eternal torture? Especially when you consider that the vast majority of Christians never lead anyone to Christ Also to the rest of the world many in the US church in particular seem hard hearted materialistic and smug
@calum66 I believe in the Gospel as Christ preached it and if you look at Romans 1:18-24 you see that nobody is excused from judgement because God wrote his laws on peoples hearts. I believe that if God did send billions to hell that he is just in doing that. Grace is umeritted favor, and if you think that God is required to offer it equally to all people then you are not talking about Grace at all. God will create some for his love and others for his wrath.
@Reapster04 It is precisely statements like this which provoke people like Rob Bell and myself to ask fundamental question .Why on earth(or in heaven) would a God who "is love " create anyone for wrath. Put yourself in such a person's shoes . What would you then think of such a God? When you genuinely love and care for people you know (what ever you think the bible say's) that this is wicked nonsence.
@calum66 God did not create man for wrath. As Rob pionts out in his book that love wins by letting man chose heaven or hell. Hell was fist made for the devil and fallen angels, not for man so therefore he did not make man for his wrath.
@bravesbills I am merely quoting reapster04 and the appostle Paul who was beginning to realise he wasn't going to get round everybody and he was right . There are billions who have never and cannever here it and if they are "without excuse" because" the truth is written on their hearts" why tell them at all. The gospel has been turned ,by many into an apalling credo for self rightiousness and (particularly)American nationalism that I don't believe Jesus would recognise .
@cynthiejune Nope, there's no mention of that in the text anywhere, you just made that up. Using a bullhorn to project your voice for people to hear you is not sinful. The whip was used on people who were merchandizing religion...much like a certain guy who makes Nooma videos.
I have watched Rob Bells videos several of them and if I was blinded to the salvation message I would definitely 150 percent more be willing to recieve the grace and forgiveness of God through one of his teachings than through one of beatings and judgements that spew out of the mouths of those who are religious like you because I would think no matter what I do I will never be deserving of Gods grace. So what would be the point?
@bittid23 Exactly you will NEVER deserve God's grace, that is the point, neither will I, Grace is defined as umerited favor, so if you deserved it, then it would not be grace. Rob Bell is a coward preacher who doesn't preach the Gospel and will be held to account for the people he was suppose to lead.
@Reapster04 We will agree to disagree.....anyone I have EVER witnessed to has been totally turned off from God because of people like you. Get it? "God if anyone reject you, let it be because they have truly seen you" that is scripture YOU will be held accountable for the blood that is on your hands when you meet the Lord, because He says "without love" you are nothing but clashing symbals YOU are doing NOTHING that Jesus asks you to do. You are a tool of the enemy
@bittid23 Don't mistake I preach God's love as well, but not without first showing people just how miserable their condition is and how much they need Jesus. Jesus preached more about Hell then any other person in the Bible. Hell is a key part of the Gospel, if you preach just love and mercy then you are preaching a pathetic god that no one will or should fear, and Fear of the lord is the beginning of Wisdom. God's Holiness and his wrath is key to a true understanding of the Gospel.
charge 200 for a cd set of five that costs them maybe seven dollars to make when Jesus says to "give freely what He has given to them" while they sit in there golden chairs and preach to people about prosperity and how if they send thier last penny they guarantee by next week God will bless them with 500 dollars. You are not Jeus!! Not sure if you know that or not be we are to share the gospel which is the power of the cross~ not the power of the whip and judgement
Looks like pretty much anything I would say here, has already been said. However, I would like to add this. When the bullwhip guy was crucified He said "IT IS FINISHED" get it? And like the other person pointed out the ONLY time JESUS ever acted abrubtly in the Bible was with RELIGIOUS people. When they wanted to stone the woman and when they had turned the House of the Lord into a Den of Theives, so if you want to preach the gospel like Jesus did- GO stand in front of the HUGE churches that
The bullwhip thing is way diffirent this satire doesnt work right. You cant find an instance were jesus preached like you do. So you use this. Jesus was angry because they were using the temple as a markate place he wasnt screaming hatefull and judgemental things in a sermon, he was angry at the religiouse people in the temple misusing it. Your responce proves nothing.
haha this guy is out of context. he is using a story where Jesus was yelling among people and tried to relate it to the video where a bullhorn dude is yelling among people.
Zephaniah 1:17 I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
How can God be "tired" of something that God incarnate does? A non sequitur if ever there was one!
I didn't care for this video. First of all, the Creator of all things isn't "bullwhip guy", but the holy, righteous God of Heaven.
I honestly am not at all sure what the point of the video was, or if there even is one. Too much left to personal interpretation or whim for my liking.
@tigerlilly66 "I honestly am not at all sure what the point of the video was, or if there even is one. Too much left to personal interpretation or whim for my liking"
It is satire, tigerlilly. It is pointing out the inconsistency between the watered down, non-offensive, seeker-friendly version of modern day Churchianity with the words and actions of the King of kings.
I disagree with your initial comparison. Jesus was in the temple of God among people who claimed to be followers of the most high God. People who were abusing their position in the temple to make money off of people wanting to worship God. That is completely different than someone on the street preaching hellfire and brimstone. God DOES love people just as they are, yet desires for them to come unto him to become more like Christ. There is a fine line between judgment and condemnation. Learn it.
Jesus does not accept you as you are...First he sends His Holy Spirit to convict you, a sinner, of your sin. Then you need to come to a place of total surrender to His Divine Will, turn from your sin and be willing to lay down your life for Him. Thats what baptism represents, dying to yourself and Gods work of regeneration brings life (Holy Living like Christ).
There is no forgiveness of sins without first commiting your life to Jesus in ths way!
Great video and hopefully people will see the deception that Rob Bell is preaching. If your eyes are open you can see the similarity to Bell's words and the snake in the Garden of Eden.
What, specifically, have you heard Rob Bell say that you would equate to the snake's words? A lot of people seem to jump on the bandwagon of criticizing Rob Bell without really checking out what he says. Do you have a quote of something that he said that bothers you, as an example?
No doubt this IS true Humanist Doctrine that's permeated so-called Christianity. True believers should be awakened to the EMERGENTcy of the false doctrine of "love" - so called. God's love is unconditional - Agape, but He has promised His wrath on ALL who refuse His payment that He made on the Cross of Calvary. The very existence of love is conducive of hatred. Because I love children, I hate pedophilia; because God loves - AND demands righteousness, He hates evil. Only He can make us right
All Rob's point is, is that Relationship/one on one/being there for people/serving evangelism is more effective then Bullhorn evangelism. That's it. PS Jesus is angry with the religious people not the sinners in this part of scripture, thus making your video make no sense.
What do you mean it's not like the bible has absolute truth. In the beginning the word was with God, and the word was God. Jesus is the word in the flesh and he is the way, the TRUTH, and the life. The bible my friend is the word of God and is nothing but the truth.
What do you mean it doesn't show that we've missed the mark? Romans 3:23 - All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. Jesus is the only road to heaven, there is no other way.
I always thought of Jesus' turning over the tables part as his own satire of western cultures Capitalist society. Jesus' anger was justified because the temple was being used for personal gain and not the aid of the people. I personally don't believe that Jesus was condeming anyone, just angry. There is a difference, just because he was angry doesn't mean they are condemned and lose their salvation.
stop mocking this guy its friggin pathetic if you dont believe its the truth then tell us the truth everyone is mocking this guy hes acting more christlike then you
Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked. And among the humanists in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Rob Bell... And he answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release for you Jesus?"... But the post-modern evangelicals stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Rob Bell instead... Pilate again said, "Then what shall I do with Jesus?" And they cried out again, "Crucify him."
Something most Christians overlook is that Jesus and His disciples didn't preach for people to have a change of mind (repent) from their sins, but rather to the first Century Jews to have a change of mind towards trusting the Law for their righteousness with God.
Read the scriptures carefully and keep the time context of who is being talked to, when, why, etc...
Most Christians read the Bible as though everything is spoken to us which in turn makes the texts lose their original meaning.
Ever notice how hateful and self-righteous some Christians sound... just like the Pharisees during Jesus' day that He rebuked often for their sin of pride...
Yea well, I'm not saved by my works, I'm saved by faith in Christ and His finished work. Jesus rebuked the pharisees because of their trust in their works. So I guess that pretty much blows that out of the water huh?
You said you are saved by YOUR faith.... if it is YOUR faith, that is something that you put forth into the equation and thus it becomes a "work".
Yet the scriptures tell us that Jesus is the author and finisher of OUR faith... so we can not even take credit for us having faith, it is all by God's favor... ie.. grace.
But nothing really matters if we have not true love for all people and for God... hence my point about the Pharisees who had the Law down pat, but had no love in them.
Yes, it is my faith. It is the faith that God has granted to me as a gift. Ya know like the faith of the woman with the issue of blood? Remeber, Jesus said "your faith has made you well."?
Nice try, but totally different meaning for faith. This is not meaning faith as in belief in God for salvation. It's simply her believing that Jesus was able to heal her.
Yep, those 1st century Old Covenant Jews that didn't have faith in THEIR Messiah did perish physically when Jerusalem and the temple (Matt 24) came crashing down at the hands of the Roman armies in AD 70...
The Bible may be clear based on what we have been taught for the last 2000 years, yet God's deepest truths remain hidden from the seminary trained teachers, but are shown to the humble who earnestly ask God to reveal the hidden truths within the scriptures.
It's always the idiots from the universalist camp that "try" and twist and contort the scriptures to make the plain teachigs go away. But hey, have at it! Worship the god that is formed in your image.
And it's always the Fundies / self-righteous religious people that call anyone with an opposing view to be an idiot or of the devil...
Just like the Pharisees of old, having dead bones religion based on fear and anger....yet very little love, mercy, peace and the other fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The apostles were preaching as 1/100. They were one person trying to get anybody out of 99 to repent and come to Christ. Being annoying and volume preaching was the way to go.
Today, where its about 50/50 (Real Christians, not Oprah Christians), it is much better to build a personal relationship with people and go from there. Mass witnessing is still possible in this way, take a look at the annual "Harvest," that takes place each year in Orange County, California...
Is this guy seriously defending the street preachers? I may have completely missed the point, but that's what it sounds like and that's ridiculous. Jesus "got away" with that because He was perfect. Needless to say, we are not
No, you completely missed the point. Jesus is allowed to condemn people because He is perfect. For us, as flawed humans, to damn someone to hell... Sorry but that's unjustifiable since we're all kinda in the same boat here.
No, you missed the point. Preaching in the streets is biblical. The apostles did it and throughout church history people have done it. It nothing to with being "perfect".
It is, but it is definitely not the place to start to tell someone they're bound for hell. And sure there may be street preachers who don't do that--I am not denying that witnessing on the streets can be very effective. But the kind of street preaching that Rob Bell is referring to (and that this video so wrongly backs up) is the kind that offends people, and instead of leading them to Christ, shuts them out.
what about the apostle Paul, or what about Martin Luther, John Wesley, George Whitfield, Charles Spurgeon? or everyone else who established the very right for you to say what you just said (without being burned at the stake) who not only engaged in street preaching, but also encouraged others to do it.
Yeah, but it all depends on the context. I doubt that any of them purposefully tried to stir up controversy. Yes, the message of Christ is controversial and no, watering it down is not the way to go either, but there's a thing called tact. Street preachers (now this is a generalization), but street preachers, for the most part, lack tact, and end up turning people off to Christ.
You know what buddy, if you really think stirring up controversy and intentionally being abrasive is the way to go, good luck. Good luck getting anyone to listen. Good luck getting the message of love across.
I am not responsible for conversions, God is. I plow, plant, and water; God grants the increase. If someone's house was on fire would you yell at them?
Yes I would yell at them. BUT I would yell at them that they need to get out. Not get up in their face and yell that if they don't get out they're gonna die. Nice try though
Of course lukewarm teachers like Rob Bell would lead you to believe such nonsense. When you meet Jesus His eyes of fire will pierce your soul. Turn from your sin or you will be condemned...
If they are without Christ and living for their sin, they are on eternal fire but just can't see it yet. This may just be your condition; are you still drinking in sin like it is your life's water?
Wrong sinner, I am the guy that was dealing with a Roman Catholic who wanted to tear my head off. I was not lusting after her or looking at her. Your wicked heart and mind supposes such things. Repent or you will perish.
His Name is Jesus, just so you remember that every word you speak or write you will give an account to Him on JUDGMENT DAY.
God's law and the Holy Spirit convicted me 13 years ago. Now you suppose that because wotm touches the law of God, they teach obedience to the Gospel?
Gods wrath is only after man has exhausted all attempts at reaching the lost. God loved us so much he sent his son to die for us . so that we may spend all the rest of time with him. he paid the cost . his love not only paid our sin cost but bore our sickness with every lash of the whip. He was spit on he could have called out a legion of angels enough to kill every man woman and child 10 times yet he suffered it all for us. so tell me that is not love.
Did you miss the part of the bible when Jesus said to go out and preach to all creation. I hate to break it to you but not of all creation goes to church. So where do you suppose we preach to them at.
Wow. Um no I am quite familiar with that part actually--no need to "enlighten" me on that. How about your friends? How about people you personally know, who will be much more receptive to your message than a total stranger who probably doesn't want to be preached at by someone they don't know?
I think its a little sad that you would think to compare the insulting and uninviting words of a street corner damnation preacher with the loving and pain ridden words and actions of Jesus towards the supposed representatives of God. Bull Horn guy doesn't condemn people who are standing in the way of people coming to God, he himself is that guy.
I am sad that you have missed the point, but at least you are looking, thinking, and trying. God Bless.
Oh my goodness.... How embarrassing. I didn't realize this is a satire. I'm glad you liked my comments Jgarrisn121. Thanks for the encouragement. Now I really like this video. :) How about we all just consider everything I wrote last night to be an appropriate response to anyone who seriously means all the things that this guy says. ;)
I'm sorry, I just thought of something else that's too important to not bring up. It's another irony. You're attempting to correct Rob Bell (fyi, I don't agree with Rob Bell on everything either), but on what grounds do you exercise this correction? Look, any time a correction is being made, there has to be a "correct" standard in order to ensure that the correction is correct. What's your standard? It mustn't be the Bible, because you don't believe the Bible is authoritative. Opinion? Hmm... :/
I think I'll add one final comment before retiring. I fear for you man. You really don't seem to understand what sort of mess you've stepped in as far as "accurately handling the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15). Ironically, the only passage you actually quote is probably the very one that should be used to expose you. That is, 2 Timothy 4:3. I'm sorry to say all this man. I really hope you get your head on straight. Maybe studying presuppositional worldview foundations will help you. Shalom.
"How so?", you ask. Well, for example, we could certainly refer to secular history books for teaching, and we can even rely on them with a moderately high degree of confidence for accuracy. But what about those other three things that scripture is profitable for? Should we use our secular history books for reproof, for correction, and for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS? No. How would a secular history book profit in these ways?
Also, regarding your comments about the autonomy of scripture (or lack thereof) and objectivity; I wonder just what you believe scripture is for... 2 Timothy 3:16-17 gives us some clue: "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." There are other attributes of scripture not mentioned in this list, sure, but these things make scripture unique...
This is God's self-described character (and a very unique passage in scripture). Exodus 34:6-7 -- "The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet HE WILL BY NO MEANS LEAVE THE GUILTY UNPUNISHED, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations." Do you understand why God's saying this?
Timotheus333, it would be wonderful if you'd quote some scripture to support your reasoning. I'm not quite sure what passage you were thinking of in reference to Moses in the book of the Exodus... Are you familiar with Exodus 34:6-7?
I wonder what gave this guy the impression that God would be honored by him openly and arrogantly mocking a fellow brother. Seriously do you think God is like "Yes good job way to belittle your brother and divide the church". I realize this is how you view Rob but he made no personal attack and and did not judge anybody. The whole point of the video was centered around the verse "I do not condemn you". I really don't think that God wants anything to do with openly mocking others in HIs name.
You may feel that way but I for sure don't think Jesus is interested in me mocking other religions. By that logic it would be ok for us to mock all of the Mormans and Jews and Muslims because they believe something we don't.. You really believe this is productive and Jesus is honored by it?
They're using satire to mock Bell's faulty thinking. Other religions are outside of christianity and they're exposing something that is masquerading as "christianity".
One might say that it's a shame shame that "Christians" are the biggest assholes around (at times). I think Jesus MIGHT have mentioned something about loving people too. Yeah, I think I remember that somewhere; it was in the scripture.
well done! it reminds me of the nooma videos haha with the random cutaways to different parts of his body.. trying to be artistic..
rob bell's a quack.. don't get me wrong.. i love the guy.. but he needs to get his theology straight if he's going to continue leading 10000 people each week.. cuz right now it's just the blind leading the blind
I forgive you for making a video that insulted me. Do you ever think about whats gonna happen when you die? I choose to believe in a God because if this is all life has to offer, hopefully 60-80 years of sensational experiences, and then nothing, ever again, for all eternity, its a hell of a tease. That is something I can not wrap my mind around. Basically this video demonstrates what Rob Bell is talking about, a bad stereotype towards Christians.
totally agree with dcking5 does anyone not realise how much the tone of this video stinks, i know its satire but this guy is more than just challenging rob bell, he is putting words into his mouth! rob bell never once doubts the bible. and when he says in his sarcastic tone, god loves everyone reguardless, HE DOES, HE JUST DOES!!!. it dosent mean he loves sin but he loves us, his creation.
If I'm not mistaken, Jesus is raging at religious people for there total lack of "getting it", but in Rob Bell's video his is taking to a religious guy trying to share the faith (loudly) with people who have no real understanding of what he is talking about.
This response video is rendered mute by this major misalignment ...
white robe dipped in blood riding a horse, lord of lords and king of kings written on his thigh, angels behind him dressed in white ready to destroy.... God isn't all about love, read ur bible, sometimes vengins is love though and i dont know who ur talking aboot
God is not all about love and all about feeling good, this guy on the video is forgetting about the judgement in the Revelations, He is forgetting that Jesus spoke about hell more times in the new testament than when God spoke of Hell in the old testament. People will have a week faith foundation if all the believe is God is a good feely kind loving God. The guy in the Video is forgetting the God is Just, a vengeful God, a God who is jealous. I wont know why i am saved, if i listen to this guy.
God also talks about how he is angery with the wicked every day, cause they will not fallow, they deny God everyday by living in sin. Before I became a Christian God was angry everyday at me, cause I kept living in sin, and because I was living in sin I kept denying the Holy Spirit. If you live your life as a good feely, nothing wrong with your life, and you attend a church that does not speak about sin
and convictions and its a good feely church, thier is something wrong!
To me this is a good feely way of Christianity, I understand we r not to judge that belongs to God. But this guy is saying that God does not like anger and that he does not hate the wicked, well if you go back to the old testament, and read the story of Jacob and Esaw, would would fined that God said he Hated Esaw but favored Jacob. These two brothers
are wicked. You also have to take into consideration of Satan, pure evil. God hates satan.
Oh and I love how your Jesus was a Caucasian with long brown hair and spoke perfect English. haha. Lets keep talking but lets discuss in love not with a bullhorn.
Let me start out by saying I understand what we as Christians have been saved from. Sometimes we let our minds sink away from the reality of eternal punishment thus diminishing Christ's work on the cross. If we truly understand where sin was taking us and how Christ intervened then we should tell the world! Thats what the early church was about as Paul spread that message to places like Corinth. But it was always in love. Just as Jesus loved and didn't condemn (ex. Tax collectors, prostitues).
to those who are angry at this video. Read the first chapter of Titus, you may see why these guys are rebuking Bell in this way.
Also check out Galatians 2:11-14. Where the apostle Paul rebukes Peter for all who were present to witness. two apostles that did love eachother. in this case. Peter "stood condemned" (verse 11)
please don't reply without scripture basis. and maybe a degree in Biblical Studies. perhaps
again I think you missed the point of the original point, which in turn was and is a misinterpretation of the original point.
that being said the point of the whole thing was how do we treat others? do we yell sinner sinner chicken dinner? or do we do like Christ and have conversations with so called ""sinners""?
for all have fell short of Gods glory, what separates you from hell my friend?
Timotheus333 How can you mock God's son like this . You want to know God's Love , God Loves you so much that he sent his son Jesus to the cross for you . and God will forgive you for this video and all your sins . Because Bullwhip guy went to the cross for you and me . You call him bullwhip guy and I'll call him Lord and Savior .
He's not mocking Jesus. He's using satire against a false teacher named Rob Bell. In order to understand this video, you have to know a little about Rob Bell's teachings.
rob bells videos have purpose do yours?/ He aims to glorify God do you?? hes your flipping brother this breaks my heart that this goes on in the Christian family God has to watch his children fight ....try glorifying God with your time instead of making mocking videos
This is so ridiculous... how can you do things like this to a brother? What happened to the Golden Rule that JESUS set in place? What happened to loving our enemies and our neighbors (aka everyone)? What happened to knowing Jesus, who took an adulterous woman and set her free and in the same life brought a Pharisee into his church? This breaks my heart that people can be so cruel to others and it is disgusting that they do it in the name of God.
haha I love the Bullwhip-Guy

The reason why people who never hear the Gospe are going to hell is because they were going there in the first place.

If you look closely at this Bible account, Jesus is using his bullwhip on the bullhorn people of his day.
cynthiejune 11 months ago
@cynthiejune Nope, there's no mention of that in the text anywhere, you just made that up. Using a bullhorn to project your voice for people to hear you is not sinful. The whip was used on people who were merchandizing religion...much like a certain guy who makes Nooma videos.
gtrjunky 11 months ago
I enjoy a good satire, but, regardless of my religious beliefs, I find this video to be developed purely out of immaturity and unfunny ethics.
FlablessGuy 1 year ago
I have watched Rob Bells videos several of them and if I was blinded to the salvation message I would definitely 150 percent more be willing to recieve the grace and forgiveness of God through one of his teachings than through one of beatings and judgements that spew out of the mouths of those who are religious like you because I would think no matter what I do I will never be deserving of Gods grace. So what would be the point?
bittid23 1 year ago
@bittid23 Exactly you will NEVER deserve God's grace, that is the point, neither will I, Grace is defined as umerited favor, so if you deserved it, then it would not be grace. Rob Bell is a coward preacher who doesn't preach the Gospel and will be held to account for the people he was suppose to lead.
Reapster04 10 months ago
@Reapster04 We will agree to disagree.....anyone I have EVER witnessed to has been totally turned off from God because of people like you. Get it? "God if anyone reject you, let it be because they have truly seen you" that is scripture YOU will be held accountable for the blood that is on your hands when you meet the Lord, because He says "without love" you are nothing but clashing symbals YOU are doing NOTHING that Jesus asks you to do. You are a tool of the enemy
bittid23 10 months ago
@bittid23 Don't mistake I preach God's love as well, but not without first showing people just how miserable their condition is and how much they need Jesus. Jesus preached more about Hell then any other person in the Bible. Hell is a key part of the Gospel, if you preach just love and mercy then you are preaching a pathetic god that no one will or should fear, and Fear of the lord is the beginning of Wisdom. God's Holiness and his wrath is key to a true understanding of the Gospel.
Reapster04 10 months ago
charge 200 for a cd set of five that costs them maybe seven dollars to make when Jesus says to "give freely what He has given to them" while they sit in there golden chairs and preach to people about prosperity and how if they send thier last penny they guarantee by next week God will bless them with 500 dollars. You are not Jeus!! Not sure if you know that or not be we are to share the gospel which is the power of the cross~ not the power of the whip and judgement
bittid23 1 year ago

I didn't care for this video. First of all, the Creator of all things isn't "bullwhip guy", but the holy, righteous God of Heaven.

@tigerlilly66 "I honestly am not at all sure what the point of the video was, or if there even is one. Too much left to personal interpretation or whim for my liking"
It is satire, tigerlilly. It is pointing out the inconsistency between the watered down, non-offensive, seeker-friendly version of modern day Churchianity with the words and actions of the King of kings.
boan000 1 year ago
I disagree with your initial comparison. Jesus was in the temple of God among people who claimed to be followers of the most high God. People who were abusing their position in the temple to make money off of people wanting to worship God. That is completely different than someone on the street preaching hellfire and brimstone. God DOES love people just as they are, yet desires for them to come unto him to become more like Christ. There is a fine line between judgment and condemnation. Learn it.
nathansoz 1 year ago 2
Jesus does not accept you as you are...First he sends His Holy Spirit to convict you, a sinner, of your sin. Then you need to come to a place of total surrender to His Divine Will, turn from your sin and be willing to lay down your life for Him. Thats what baptism represents, dying to yourself and Gods work of regeneration brings life (Holy Living like Christ).
There is no forgiveness of sins without first commiting your life to Jesus in ths way!

What, specifically, have you heard Rob Bell say that you would equate to the snake's words? A lot of people seem to jump on the bandwagon of criticizing Rob Bell without really checking out what he says. Do you have a quote of something that he said that bothers you, as an example?
johnh09 1 year ago
No doubt this IS true Humanist Doctrine that's permeated so-called Christianity. True believers should be awakened to the EMERGENTcy of the false doctrine of "love" - so called. God's love is unconditional - Agape, but He has promised His wrath on ALL who refuse His payment that He made on the Cross of Calvary. The very existence of love is conducive of hatred. Because I love children, I hate pedophilia; because God loves - AND demands righteousness, He hates evil. Only He can make us right
ThereISaHell 1 year ago

ChristianNewsWatch 2 years ago
Wrong! This is just an excuse for people to live a lifestyle of sin. Like those who promote the satanic lie of universalism.
N2truth7 2 years ago
Ever notice how hateful and self-righteous some Christians sound... just like the Pharisees during Jesus' day that He rebuked often for their sin of pride...
ChristianNewsWatch 2 years ago
Yea well, I'm not saved by my works, I'm saved by faith in Christ and His finished work. Jesus rebuked the pharisees because of their trust in their works. So I guess that pretty much blows that out of the water huh?
N2truth7 2 years ago
You said you are saved by YOUR faith.... if it is YOUR faith, that is something that you put forth into the equation and thus it becomes a "work".
Yet the scriptures tell us that Jesus is the author and finisher of OUR faith... so we can not even take credit for us having faith, it is all by God's favor... ie.. grace.
But nothing really matters if we have not true love for all people and for God... hence my point about the Pharisees who had the Law down pat, but had no love in them.
Peace
ChristianNewsWatch 2 years ago
Yes, it is my faith. It is the faith that God has granted to me as a gift. Ya know like the faith of the woman with the issue of blood? Remeber, Jesus said "your faith has made you well."?
N2truth7 2 years ago
Nice try, but totally different meaning for faith. This is not meaning faith as in belief in God for salvation. It's simply her believing that Jesus was able to heal her.
Spartymusic 2 years ago
Of course the bible is clear that not ALL have faith, hence God does not grant this gift to everyone. Those who don't believe will perish.
N2truth7 2 years ago
Yep, those 1st century Old Covenant Jews that didn't have faith in THEIR Messiah did perish physically when Jerusalem and the temple (Matt 24) came crashing down at the hands of the Roman armies in AD 70...
The Bible may be clear based on what we have been taught for the last 2000 years, yet God's deepest truths remain hidden from the seminary trained teachers, but are shown to the humble who earnestly ask God to reveal the hidden truths within the scriptures.
God is the best teacher :)
ChristianNewsWatch 2 years ago
No, the plain teachings are hidden from the carnal minded, unregenerates.

Anyways, God bless you / take care.

Needless to say, we are not
Spartymusic 2 years ago
So I guess we shouldn't regard any of Jesus commands since He's perfect and we're not?
gtrjunky 2 years ago
No, you completely missed the point. Jesus is allowed to condemn people because He is perfect. For us, as flawed humans, to damn someone to hell... Sorry but that's unjustifiable since we're all kinda in the same boat here.
Spartymusic 2 years ago
No, you missed the point. Preaching in the streets is biblical. The apostles did it and throughout church history people have done it. It nothing to with being "perfect".
gtrjunky 2 years ago
Yeah but I have a feeling they weren't preaching damnation since that gets NOTHING accomplished
Spartymusic 2 years ago
You assume that ALL street preachers do that.
Eternal judgement is part of the whole picture.
gtrjunky 2 years ago
It is, but it is definitely not the place to start to tell someone they're bound for hell. And sure there may be street preachers who don't do that--I am not denying that witnessing on the streets can be very effective. But the kind of street preaching that Rob Bell is referring to (and that this video so wrongly backs up) is the kind that offends people, and instead of leading them to Christ, shuts them out.
Spartymusic 2 years ago
what about the apostle Paul, or what about Martin Luther, John Wesley, George Whitfield, Charles Spurgeon? or everyone else who established the very right for you to say what you just said (without being burned at the stake) who not only engaged in street preaching, but also encouraged others to do it.
rychaplin 2 years ago
Yeah, but it all depends on the context. I doubt that any of them purposefully tried to stir up controversy. Yes, the message of Christ is controversial and no, watering it down is not the way to go either, but there's a thing called tact. Street preachers (now this is a generalization), but street preachers, for the most part, lack tact, and end up turning people off to Christ.
Spartymusic 2 years ago

I'm sorry, I just thought of something else that's too important to not bring up. It's another irony. You're attempting to correct Rob Bell (fyi, I don't agree with Rob Bell on everything either), but on what grounds do you exercise this correction? Look, any time a correction is being made, there has to be a "correct" standard in order to ensure that the correction is correct. What's your standard? It mustn't be the Bible, because you don't believe the Bible is authoritative. Opinion? Hmm... :/
Zarbahg 2 years ago
zarbahg i think that was well written. Good Job.
Jgarrisn121 2 years ago
I think I'll add one final comment before retiring. I fear for you man. You really don't seem to understand what sort of mess you've stepped in as far as "accurately handling the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15). Ironically, the only passage you actually quote is probably the very one that should be used to expose you. That is, 2 Timothy 4:3. I'm sorry to say all this man. I really hope you get your head on straight. Maybe studying presuppositional worldview foundations will help you. Shalom.
Zarbahg 2 years ago
We NEED scripture to be authoritative. It better be. Otherwise, what's it good for? Really...
Zarbahg 2 years ago
"How so?", you ask. Well, for example, we could certainly refer to secular history books for teaching, and we can even rely on them with a moderately high degree of confidence for accuracy. But what about those other three things that scripture is profitable for? Should we use our secular history books for reproof, for correction, and for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS? No. How would a secular history book profit in these ways?
Zarbahg 2 years ago
Also, regarding your comments about the autonomy of scripture (or lack thereof) and objectivity; I wonder just what you believe scripture is for... 2 Timothy 3:16-17 gives us some clue: "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." There are other attributes of scripture not mentioned in this list, sure, but these things make scripture unique...
Zarbahg 2 years ago
This is God's self-described character (and a very unique passage in scripture). Exodus 34:6-7 -- "The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet HE WILL BY NO MEANS LEAVE THE GUILTY UNPUNISHED, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations." Do you understand why God's saying this?
Zarbahg 2 years ago
Timotheus333, it would be wonderful if you'd quote some scripture to support your reasoning. I'm not quite sure what passage you were thinking of in reference to Moses in the book of the Exodus... Are you familiar with Exodus 34:6-7?
Zarbahg 2 years ago
I wonder what gave this guy the impression that God would be honored by him openly and arrogantly mocking a fellow brother. Seriously do you think God is like "Yes good job way to belittle your brother and divide the church". I realize this is how you view Rob but he made no personal attack and and did not judge anybody. The whole point of the video was centered around the verse "I do not condemn you". I really don't think that God wants anything to do with openly mocking others in HIs name.
Jgarrisn121 2 years ago
False doctrines are what cause division.(Rom.16:17) So RB is to blame. I don't think God had any problems when Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal.
gtrjunky 2 years ago
You may feel that way but I for sure don't think Jesus is interested in me mocking other religions. By that logic it would be ok for us to mock all of the Mormans and Jews and Muslims because they believe something we don't.. You really believe this is productive and Jesus is honored by it?

They're using satire to mock Bell's faulty thinking. Other religions are outside of christianity and they're exposing something that is masquerading as "christianity".

well done! it reminds me of the nooma videos haha with the random cutaways to different parts of his body.. trying to be artistic..
rob bell's a quack.. don't get me wrong.. i love the guy.. but he needs to get his theology straight if he's going to continue leading 10000 people each week.. cuz right now it's just the blind leading the blind

This isnt satire, its sarcasm. My question is...why...?

bullhorn guy is not jesus. the comparrison makes no sense. the vicious tone of this video means that any valid point is completely lost.

totally agree with dcking5 does anyone not realise how much the tone of this video stinks, i know its satire but this guy is more than just challenging rob bell, he is putting words into his mouth! rob bell never once doubts the bible. and when he says in his sarcastic tone, god loves everyone reguardless, HE DOES, HE JUST DOES!!!. it dosent mean he loves sin but he loves us, his creation.

Too bad, because it's very clever and well done!

white robe dipped in blood riding a horse, lord of lords and king of kings written on his thigh, angels behind him dressed in white ready to destroy....

Dude, it's a satire of Rob Bell's video "Bullhorn." The guy in the video agrees with you (as do I and the Bible). :)
mrsjikz 2 years ago
Ok, I thought this guy was serious about what he was saying. I thought he was with Mars Hill. Now I understand.
wyrick0 2 years ago
Yeah, don't worry. It's an easy mistake. If you don't know something is a satire, it can become confusing. :) God bless!

God also talks about how he is angery with the wicked every day, cause they will not fallow, they deny God everyday by living in sin. Before I became a Christian God was angry everyday at me, cause I kept living in sin, and because I was living in sin I kept denying the Holy Spirit. If you live your life as a good feely, nothing wrong with your life, and you attend a church that does not speak about sin
and convictions and its a good feely church, thier is something wrong!
wyrick0 2 years ago
To me this is a good feely way of Christianity, I understand we r not to judge that belongs to God. But this guy is saying that God does not like anger and that he does not hate the wicked, well if you go back to the old testament, and read the story of Jacob and Esaw, would would fined that God said he Hated Esaw but favored Jacob. These two brothers
are wicked. You also have to take into consideration of Satan, pure evil. God hates satan.

remember the new testament?
Jesus was rarely angry,
the GREATEST of these is love

Oh and I love how your Jesus was a Caucasian with long brown hair and spoke perfect English. haha. Lets keep talking but lets discuss in love not with a bullhorn.
jesusfreak200470 2 years ago
Let me start out by saying I understand what we as Christians have been saved from. Sometimes we let our minds sink away from the reality of eternal punishment thus diminishing Christ's work on the cross. If we truly understand where sin was taking us and how Christ intervened then we should tell the world! Thats what the early church was about as Paul spread that message to places like Corinth. But it was always in love. Just as Jesus loved and didn't condemn (ex. Tax collectors, prostitues).

Dumb.

to those who are angry at this video. Read the first chapter of Titus, you may see why these guys are rebuking Bell in this way.
Also check out Galatians 2:11-14. Where the apostle Paul rebukes Peter for all who were present to witness. two apostles that did love eachother. in this case. Peter "stood condemned" (verse 11)
please don't reply without scripture basis. and maybe a degree in Biblical Studies. perhaps

again I think you missed the point of the original point, which in turn was and is a misinterpretation of the original point.
that being said the point of the whole thing was how do we treat others? do we yell sinner sinner chicken dinner? or do we do like Christ and have conversations with so called ""sinners""?
for all have fell short of Gods glory, what separates you from hell my friend?
that is a portion of the true gospel.
not all of it but a very important one.

JandH1993 2 years ago
