This is the sort of wonderful crazy humour that is so rare today ! Does anyone know anything as funny as Cleese and company? If so please let us know.
@ echovector "Gentleman, originality is too risky and expensive. And new ideas make the average consumer's brain hurt." What media conglomerates believe about the average American audience. Hence remakes, reboots, and tame bullshit TV shows Hollywood produces like so many McDonald McNuggets, TM.
This is NOT the original version. This is the same verions everyone else on youtube has posted. The origninal, once you see it, is actually quite a bit funnier because John Cleese's bit is inspiring. He doesn't say the word "feeble" at all.... anyway, you shouldn't say this is the the original version of the sketch because it's obviously the exact same version as one can find anywhere else, the verison that was recorded later for "And Now For Something Completely Different"

You bastards! You vicious, heartless bastards! Look what you've done to him! He's worked his fingers to the bone to make this place what it is! And you come here with your petty, feeble quibbling and you grind him into the dirt! This fine, honorable man whose boots you are not worthy to kiss!
@Zetapimpkin Actially, the whole point of the sketch was how bad the punchline tends to be compared to the 'set-up' before it. So, the Pythonites wrote this as an ex. of what they intend NOT to do in their skits.
I can't believe no one has mentioned that EPIC tackle by Terry! It's the most hilarious part of the sketch! That woman is lucky she didn't get kicked in the face!
I also love Graham's nervous laugh when John comes out yelling. This sketch is one of the best!
@Shademp No indeed. Creative talent has gone the way of the DoDo bird. Extinct in every way. Not simply comedy, but all arts. Give an ear, if you can stand it, to "new" music. Have a look, again, if it can be tolerated, at "neuvo Art". They are even re-making classic movies for lack of any new talent in the idea department. Aside from the increasingly rare individual savant, we are living in an desert. Surely a mark of the decline of civilization.

My favorite part of this whole sketch is Graham's feigned laughter when Cleese begins his tirade.

Shall the world ever again know comedy of the same quality as that of Monty Python?
The answer, is no.
Shademp 3 years ago 78
@Shademp true. todays 'comedy' is all about cursing and fart jokes.
when ppl like Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard will 'expire' i am afraid that comedy as we know it will expire as well.
shame.
