  • It shows they're in complete submission. By putting their wings down they're letting you know they trust you. It might be a mating ritual i'm unsure. My wife would know but she's still sleeping.

    My male senegal does this all the time.... but my cockatoo and my african grey don't... and I think they're both females. Can't really tell.... haven't had them dna'd yet!

  • My CAG does this too...while she's trying to "feed me" She gets overly excited and makes whimpering sounds. I think it's her mating dance, or something.

  • That's not a mating ritual! Where do you get that from? Have you ever rubbed the front of the throat and heard those weird sounds, then they burp up a seed? I always thought THAT was the mating sound, but I think it's to feed their young. It's the strangest sound they make. When my husband claps in front of ours and dances, she brings her wings up and dances side to side. It's not the mating ritual.
