Empanadas are traditional in South America and we don't use Chiles which we call Aji in the dish per say but put it on the side for those who like it.idratherbecooking If you would like to try something traditonal try Mozarella cheese and add to it fried onions until they are nice and brown and add it to the cheese. After deep fried and on a dish add sugar to the top and OMG it's so good. We make it that way in Ecuador and it's really yummy.Try it you might like it. Sugar has to be granulated.
@puttytat007 Actually is in all Latin American countries where the empanadas are a delicacy. In El Salvador it's a dessert. It's made with platains and in the middle there's this custard filling. It's very delicious.
If you use the spicy chiles, yes, otherwise you could use the mild chiles to just add the pepper flavor. I like the spicy ones, though - adds a little surprise to the sweetness.
It's a Hatch New Mexico Green Chile - a seasonal (late summer) thing from Hatch, NM; they can be spicy or mild, but either way, very yummy. Another variety of NM chiles to use is anaheim peppers, which are seen more often in stores than the Hatch chiles (which are very regional).
that's where you belong. good job.

Do the green chiles add some heat to this tasty dessert?

I actually thought of empanadas as a main rather than dessert but this looks super tasty
