It's a transformation of Japanese dessert "Taiyaki" (The fish shape cake).

In Taiwan we called it red bean cake or "car wheel cake" because normally the cakes were baked on a big round pan with lots of small round holes on it.

So...normally it should be like a round shape.

I think the lady was putting something like cheese slices...instead of paper..Ha!

The traditional flavors are red bean, custard cream and sesame paste.
