@lovekorea9 b/c there teachers don't bullshit, and look at their watch during a private lesson. if you notice girls that train ballroom danicng from russia in 4yrs time, are much more advanced then girls that train ballroom here in U.S.A 4yrs. their its all about detail and technique, in the U.S. its about the presentation not technique.

@sukthiz1 hmmmm thats makes a lot of sense. USA loves the fancy and pretty look but its so obvious there are better. even the junior latin levels are so much more fierce than here. I guess the best thing is to get the harderst coach ever!!!

@lovekorea9 the best thing is to find a coach that concentrates on technique. flashy is tacky, so u have a shiny dress and big movements, go to blackppol and fail. with ballroom dance you must always concentrate on technique, then everything else. i know in england there is some old lady that teaches technique down to the T. i never had a chance to go there but basically thats how it goes. techinique is what will improve ur dancing.

@sukthiz1 hmmmm wow thanks for the advice. I will try to do that. Im from that states and i took ballroom lessons in the city for like 8 weeks when i was 15. I have never forgotten about it. Then i came to college MANY years later and found it again. Im close to finishing and i really wanna start hardcore. I wanna go far!!! Are you a competitive dancer?

@lovekorea9 i used to be, i quit dancing in 2005. im now married and concentration on my career and family life. but i danced competitively for 13yrs till 2005. after i teached for a bit, then just dropped the sport entirely

@lovekorea9 hmm, top 6 youth usa 2004, went to germany for some kind of summer festival made semi out of 50 couples, then all went crashing ( parter had commitment issues, my knee gave out)

@lovekorea9 don't knopw if it gets better the longer u stay, it gets better the more you work on your technique. there are couple who are now in the final round cuz many have left so the others have moved up. for instance : maria and eugene were number 1 in usa amateur, they left amateurs so valentin chmerkovsky moved up in usa rankings.

@lovekorea9 you're right. I was dancing for years in Slovakia/Czech Republic and when I was in Canada, the comeptitions couldn't be compared as equal (I mean those national championships not some local)

oh and I forgot to respond to your question why: because It has the tradition, it is in the culture (English, German, Spanish - for major ballroom dance). And in my opinion, people in America doesn't like thinkgs from Europe, so they don't care about ballroom dancing. They better go to watch wrestling :-D (No seriously, compare how popular is soccer to American football or baseball. What isn't american nobody cares. said ...)

@FITEinstein you know your right. people in america are not too crazy about the European ways of life. We like to make noise lol. My parents were not from america so i got a little taste of how things are done in the Caribbean. the first time i tried ballroom i was 15yrs old and i fell in love with it. but then i stopped because my mom said that i was too busy for school and stufff. so time passed by and i found ballroom again in college and i love it soo much..i wanna take lesson and practice!!
