  • So is it a good Idea to combine those two when you want to get stronge lats? like, pull ups first to exhaust lats, then chinups for biceps and a little bit more lats?

  • @XGazudin well you should always alternate your workout plan because if you're only doing one kind of pullups/chinups all the time your muscles get used to the motion and the intensity will go down with that, so just do both chinups and pullups and also alternate in wide and narrow grip

  • Sorry, but they are the same workout. They work all the same muscles. I know this from experience. I've done them both ways, palms back and palms forward, they work all of the same muscles(includine your biceps.) Narrow and wide grip pull ups make little difference in upper or lower lats.

  • Wide grip pullups are retarded. All they will do is limit your ROM, there is no "hitting the whole lat":

    Chinups and pullups have the same effeciency when it comes to lat training. The difference is that with pullups your forearms will tire faster, with chinups your biceps.

    Its always your arms failing, not the lats. So you might as well do chinups to get the best results.

  • @Nyanih I've always taken the pullup route because I wanted to bring my grip to a level where it was no longer the limiting factor. Where I am now, I can do heavy weighted pullups until my lats start to fail and I can't pull myself up anymore.

  • Well here are the real facts: ChinUps are done with palms away, Reverse ChinUps are done with palms facing. Pull Ups are done standing with a weighted bar hanging at arms length. The bar is then pulled straight up to the chin or upper chest. Then slowly back down for reps etc.

    pull ups also work the rear shoulder too i noticed. is that true or was i just doing it wrong becasue i felt it on rear shoulder/back of upper arm too.

  • Do 100 Chin-ups...I bet your biceps get very sore. Biceps cause flexion around the elbow, during a chin-up elbow flexion occurs!
