If you haven't already seen his videos, I'd recommend the Ontario RTAK 2 knife. Look up Nutnfancy and once you check out some of his videos, I promise you you most likely won't unsubscribe yourself to him. He likes to talk though, so if you can't put up with his talking, then google RTAK 2 and find yourself the cheapest price. It's a big blade but if you're talking true survival, then it's worth the money. The knife in this video is nothing. Good luck.
im not 100% sure what maya dust is but i would imagine that if you got a bug drill bit and drilled a few holes and collected the dust, you would have something very similar to maya dust.
personally i would say, make one your self. that's the best for survival, hands down. other than that it depends on the price you're willing to pay. i would take my gerber armor into the woods any day it cost about 35$. but if i knew i was gonna be surviving i would take a nice fixed blade. it's all your call.
The word would be 'dull'. The reason i have to push hard is b/c i chose the wrong kind of wood and the stick is tiny so it was hard to cut feathers on. I'll admit, i've never had use for a feather stick so i have little experience with them, there are other, more effective methods of making fire as far as im concerned. If you can make a feather stick that well, then feel free to make a video and post it as a response to mine to help out our viewers.
Yes, I realize that, but the only way to demonstrate how they work is to set them on fire. Since I had one going it followed, logically, to then set the fire stick ablaze with the aforementioned fire for a small visual aid.
You must have learned that in BOy Scouts because it is the only place I have seen such a bad job. Please find a good video on how to do it.
cheers

is that SOG trident?
tonydoberman21 3 years ago
No, it looks similar but it's actually a Gerber Armor, non-serrated.

feather sticks are for making fire not making a fire bigger. 2/5*

wat knife?
kirbyboy75 3 years ago
I use a Gerber Armor. It's the only folding knife i will carry. I prefer to carry fixed blades (I make my own, being an amatuer bladesmith).

on the feather stick if you make the "flaps" longer they will burn more easily
the video rocks!
