There's still a market out there for solo female artists as proven by the names I have mentioned. It's the quality of music that has deteriorated. As Billie has confirmed, being a pop 'star' was not what she really wanted to do, acting was. That's why she is such a good actress good. She hated the gruelling conveyor belt of the music 'industry'. It burned her out. Even though she married Chris Evens when she was far too young. They remain such close friends because he literally 'saved' her having the much more grown up & mature outlook on things. Now she's strong, married, & a mother. Good for her! :-)
