During the 10th century Rome launched an aggressive campaign to convert the various christian sects to the catholic right. In bosnia they were met with defiance, 100 crusades later and the bosnians would not convert. In croatia no such defiance existed (ie)the 11th century king kresimir IV & the majority orthodox croat monks converted overnight to expand the borders of croatia which consisted of zagreb and a few remote villages. What are you talking about? "Bosnians" and all Slavic people that migrated down into the balkans were converted by the Roman Catholic Church into catholicisim before they moved into the balkans. Factually speaking, the Church paid many tribes to move into the balkans to overrun the local Illyrian Barbaric Tribes. All modern Serbs, Croats, and Slav Muslims were all Catholic. Eventually the western roman empired formed and it converted many bosnians into Serbs (orthodox).

In the 16th century AD the Ottomans invaded Bosnia through many battles and eventually masses of its citizens converted to Islam because it was the "State Religion" and also they were taxed much less than the christians were. My dear friend at that time division between orthodox and catholics was not big thing as today. Meny feudal rullers switched from orthodox to catholics and vica versa several times. This became significant in 19th century. Regarding Slavs and their religion during the period of their arrival at Balkans. They were wild pagan tribes! Foot-wallkers led and commanded by Avars men on horses, tribe of Mongol origin, later assimilaed by Slavs.

I stayed all of 1996 in Bosnia for the U.S. Army operating a large kitchen feeding 500 for 16 hours a day in Gradecac with the 4 most dedicated awesomely hard working Bosnian employees; 7 days a week. All infrastructure was down with bullot holes everywhere, But I recognized early that Bosnia is a natural resource of inumerable value. I fantasized about the day it would be restored and HERE IT IS!. :)
