  • simply the best

  • they don't make climaxes like these anymore

  • Brillant

  • even jesus becomes a sellout comparatively

- 1980. Posle toga ništa. Ostaje nam da uživamo u tom zlatnom periodu. Nazdravlje.

  • and by again, i mean since the 1960s. but its up to all of us to expose new outstanding music, and also to give attention to the psychedelia of the 60s. Close the door, turn out the lights.

mmm Dead Meadow, Devendra Banhart, there are lots. im probly missing out majorly! but i seem satisfied. if anyone understands what i am saying, could you pick and choose an artist to recommend? im gonna state again, Cocorosie. amazing stuff.

  • music is diversifying all across this planet where western civilization (capitalism) has been established.

im just gonna throw out some artists. Cocorosie, Scout Niblett, the black angels, and there could be talented artists in your community playing at pubs and shit. i can defenitly say that my own intuition in playing my guitar is nothing short of extraordinary. i may not make living at it in this world, but it just shows that music is infact not dead, it is growing into a force again.

J'étais adolescent et devais me coucher tôt.

  • Best song ever! Love it! Sounds like my soul. It's a part of me.

  • this can't be real

  • im glad there are people out there that prefer a song over 5 minutes long to a 3 minute song. Yay attention spans

  • messi la

  • There must have been something special in the air during the 60's, 70's and 80's. So much great music from those 30 years.

  • @MaxReinsch Ehhh... I don't think ANYTHING from the 80s comes even close to being comparable to this.

  • @MaxReinsch there was a war there was a hollow something missing well i think that after the war the music goes better some one weirds some others ways all its a refelection of the soul of humanity.

  • @MaxReinsch its called creativity, which there is none left sadly :(

  • 19 people sucks

  • Saddest song ever created

  • 19 votes don't know anything about music!!!

  • Possibly the signature King Crimson song, but surely one of the very best Prog tracks. Listening to this still gives me goosebubbles - after lots of decades!

  • If the last 60 secs of this masterpiece are the last I listen before i die, then I will do so with a big smile upon my face.

  • above all... daring, original, trippy and so so so much musicianship...!

  • this song needs only 30 seconds for a "I like"

  • Ian McDonald plays the saxophone on this recording and the other early KC albums. He plays the crazy saxophone solo in Schizoid Man. It's difficult to believe he went on to found the band Foreigner. Talk about selling out, haha.

  • @unknownkingdom I saw Fripp on his "Frippertronics" one-man tour back in the early '80s at a Peaches store in Ft. Lauderdale (he signed my 'Exposure' album). Foreigner was huge at this time, the complete opposite of his tour, and, at one point, he fielded questions about the past members of KC. Being the eternal smartass and sublime jokester, I called out from the audience "Whatever happened to Ian McDonald ?" Got quite a laugh from Mr. Fripp and the crowd for that one. Peace:-)

  • First kc song i've ever heard. Looove

  • very mellow and dark , but intense song ,one of my favors bands it has a little bit of yes, and floyd influence , and the sadness of green carnation to

  • @rougerio37 Actually, you'll find that King Crimson was the one who influenced those bands, not the other way around. That said, they all still have their own sound and are great in their own way (Yes descends into cheese more often than the others though).

  • Remember when they said, Clapton is God? Funny that. Clapton is one of the most humble men in the entire business, but no one else ever played lead guitar in a rock band like Fripp. He played underneath the wall of sound - lead guitar from the back row. Love the Mellotron on this one. Genius. He yielded center stage.

  • What an amazing track, first time I have ever heard it... You just got to listen right til the end, it's still so fresh & progressive!

  • sweet milky caramel. for the brain.

  • Hello my fellow listeners. Once I found a wise words from one man. Every another generation will says ( or at least some of them) what was before was cool or better than today. But still. The golden ages of 70s ,80s are the best because the music was from hearth not from money. Im still happy I found this golden age and happy to listen it even im listening dubstep. My opinion. Dubstep and this music is the best of music industry created, Thanks for Read

  • @Askalpone dubstep, really? well, you like king crimson so i cant insult your taste in music completely. i will spare your life.

  • A shame that I had to stumble upon this through Musicovery! This piece should be known to the world! Aside Cyrus and Bieber!

  • @chichihua It IS known to the world :D Just a different world then the one most people live in these days!

  • @fharida I had never heard of it and I'm truly ashamed because of it. They should play less pop-stuff on the radio and more of this!

  • who in their right mind could ever "dislike" this incredible peice of music? progressive artistry at its finest!

  • Bestpieceofmusicever¡

  • So amazing ending...

  • 6 o'clock in the morning, drunked, stoned, doesn't matter fame or fortune, don't care if it's an cult song or not, just hearing it 'cause I like it.

  • Wow!!!this is music, real, awesome concept...other times that never will be back!!!

  • This was awesome. Haven't heard it in a while.

  • My current favorite KC song. It's so hauntingly beautiful in its beginning and transforms into a demonic kick-ass composition near the end. Wonderful.

  • if you dig these guys, try a magicall little substance called Pink Floyd. The only psychedelic that can be administered audibly...

  • KING CRIMSON FOREVER!!!!

  • a beautiful plant of the late romantic era in rockmusic.

  • 11:17 onwards- fucking AMAZING end

  • Love this track. Have made my own version playing all instruments and singing in my way:

    at soundcloud com/gitarr/maxb-starless-20120105

  • ooo

  • @lemonshamilton Not completely true. At the time of the Beatles there was also pop-trash that was fed to the masses. But considering that the time period in that era set the foundation for modern rock and roll many bands drew upon the first successes (as well as early 20th century jazz), which is why acts such as the Beatles are still able to connect to an audience after all these years.

  • @Packeranatic i always think that songs like "she loves you" was pop trash that fed to the masses. obvious the beatles grewth up and made excellent songs like i'am the walrus. the best pop band?, i dont know. i dont care about this, if you listen bands like king crimson or composers like Frank Zappa who needs beatles' music?.

  • Coming back to this after c35 years and it sounds better than then! Awesome in the true sense of the word. Feel drained when it ends!

  • Ahmed and Salim, anyone?

  • Delectable, LSD at its best !!!

  • @datubaozi ummm Careful With That Axe Eugene?

  • One of the best pieces - not only of prog rock, but also of music ever composed. Go King Robert...

  • The Best!

  • this song brings goosebumpyness to a whole new level

  • In our stupid "pop world",the bands like this one and songs like this one are like a breath of fresh air.

  • @justynaija Hey, don't be hatin' pop bands. The Beatles were the number one pop band of the sixties. Hate today's culture.

  • @justynaija It always astounds me when I see people sharing this opinion, as if there's no music being made outside of the modern "pop world".

  • @justynaija 'The Wall', which was released in November 1979 was the last of the great theme albums. It has been 33 years since anything like this has been made.

  • God In Your Head ? Just play.....

  • Does anyone have any acid lol

  • IS BIBLE BLACK HAVE ANUTHER MEANINIG EXAPT THE REGULAR U KNOW?

  • @TheAviram113 It's from the poem 'Under Milk Wood' by Dylan Thomas . BTW I am learning this song right now as I am about to play it live in a few shows with J Wetton, from KC :}

  • This is, without any doubt, one of the best compositions of 20th century. The last minute or so is one protracted glorious musical orgasm! :))

  • simply fantastic

  • Why did it stop?

  • Eargasm at 11:28

  • I'd appreciate it if the song ended at 4:23.

  • @Poisonnachos

i'd appreciate if you could realize this is prog rock

  • @turtlliwdnifuoyehthr So? Prog rock doesn't mean long songs, it means....er... classical mix-up...and... with um.... yeah.

  • @Poisonnachos

prog rock is something epic.it wouldnt be so epic if it was just 4 minutes

  • the ending of this song is epic

  • @ok1239 This SONG is epic.

  • @ok1239 Wrong. Whole song is epic.

  • one of my favorite KC songs of all time. I also liked "fracture" and "Book of Saturdays". The 72-74 period of KC, was definitely my favorite.

  • That saxophone solo...

  • King Crimson, that's enough. One of the best and most important prog bands of all time.

  • This kind of stuff is the 'classical music' of our era. All the dross will vanish and this, and its ilk, will be left.
