It is possible that the officer was responding to a call and the siren may alert the perpetrator to flee. HOWEVER, if that was the case, there was no excuse for the lights not to have been flashing for as long as you were following.

Many officers go silent (without lights or sirens) to calls. It would be good for you to know things before you make ridiculous comments. Emergency lights cause confusion in drivers, who do not pull over. It's easier to respond silent.
A lot of police when responding to a call forgo the use of sirens and lights to respond to a situation. i live in a rough part of minneapolis, and when there is a shooting, they always rush in out with all lights off, no sirens, as to not scare off the criminals so they can catch them red handed.
Code 3 (lights and sirens) is not allowed by most departments, unless it is an emergency. this cuts back on noise pollution, accidents, condusion, and neck benders. so you see police speed a lot to get to calls, (not all police focus on traffic enforcement, there are only a few all traffic police) but i agree, many officers do it because they can and are really in no hurry, but many are going to a potentially serious call

Police go lights and siren when there is a pending emergency such as an accident with injuries, a shooting, a heart attack, etc. but when they go to other calls which may not be deemed by a supervisor to be "lights and sirens" emergencies but are still serious, they try to get there as fast as possible. Its always the same story, rank on the cops until something happens to the person making the comments and then the only words coming out of their mouths is,"HELP ME, HELP ME!" Asshole!

It is possible that the officer was responding to a call and the siren may alert the perpetrator to flee. HOWEVER, if that was the case, there was no excuse for the lights not to have been flashing for as long as you were following.

You don't know if there is a reason he is driving that fast. I know a lot of officers are advised to not use their sirens or light when answering a call. Sometimes they are told to use them. It would depend on the situation. I don't think you can make any judgment unless you know the facts.

Code 3 (lights and sirens) is not allowed by most departments, unless it is an emergency. this cuts back on noise pollution, accidents, condusion, and neck benders. so you see police speed a lot to get to calls, (not all police focus on traffic enforcement, there are only a few all traffic police) but i agree, many officers do it because they can and are really in no hurry, but many are going to a potentially serious call

i hate las cruces police cuz i was caught by them... lol. then taken back to kansas. ok i dont hate them but i just dont like that they caught me. lol.

He thinks all cops do is write citations and arrest him for DWI. He has no idea that most criminals run when they hear a siren or any of theother reasons an officer would respond to a call like that. I suggest you join the police dept so you could find out that police work is far more complicated than your pea size brain can handle. Then after you flunk out or resign because you are too scared to respond to calls you can then SHUT THE *%$& UP!

Cops do this EVERY DAY here. Theres a traffic jam? Red light? NO PROBLEM JUST TURN ON THE FUCKING SIRENS.

Police go lights and siren when there is a pending emergency such as an accident with injuries, a shooting, a heart attack, etc. but when they go to other calls which may not be deemed by a supervisor to be "lights and sirens" emergencies but are still serious, they try to get there as fast as possible. Its always the same story, rank on the cops until something happens to the person making the comments and then the only words coming out of their mouths is,"HELP ME, HELP ME!" Asshole!

Maybe that would happen to someone who a) can't take care of themselves and b) has no friends, family or respect in their community.
The only decent cops are out in the country side. City cops wanna be big badasses cuz they got picked on in school or beat up by their older brother growing up. Sacks of SHIT.

you fucking retard all cops do that, its so they can zip through trafic easily to get to an emergency because when they turn on their blue lights it frightens or confuses people around them and its harder to get to an emergency when people in front of you are slowing down or freaking out
