I hope no one of today crap "artists" especially girlie singers doesn't make a disgusting pop version/cover of this song. Those ignorante bastards already now considerate this pop music.
@spozbucket Jerry was engaged to BF, but soon broke up with him to go with Jagger. Trading in cool for lips. Well, I like Jagger, but if I were a bird, BF would be the man. Different strokes.
there's some much in this 3 minute video..bryan ferry's little jig around the mike..his outfit..jerry hall..jerry hall's outfit..the "great" paul thompson on drums and so and so forth..then you have my wife asking..how could she leave bryan ferry for jagger? WOW!
Bryan Ferry and Jerry Hall were the coolest rock couple of the 70s. They both epitomized 70s glamour. You could tell he adored her by the way he looked at her.
@sanjhunt they were born a year apart so as to who had the moustache first is open to debate, although Bryan did realize it looked seedy & got rid of it, thankfully .John is still running his at 65 years old suits him to a T although he is starting to look like Steve Buscemi's dad
@johnmayerisalegend Now Bryan Ferry is a legend, in his own field of music. Unlike John Mayer who is still light years behind Hendrix, Clapton, JL Hooker, B B King, Buddy Guy and thousands more.
can anyone upload bryan ferry,s south downs track its so awesome its on the album the thrill of it all disc 4 i believe have been searching for ages hope this works lol cheers
siempre hay una versión de una canción que es insuperable, creo que en este caso, la de Bryan Ferry es con mucho la mejor versión y puesta en escena, que puede hacer Bryan insuperable
Anyone with an understanding of music would have immediately understood the reference I was making in my comment 'Is This Canned Heat.'
The fact that its a different group singing a song seven years after the Canned Heat version, doesn't disguise the fact that this track is not a unique interpretation of the original, even if it uses different words or instruments, but is based on the exact same arrangement as the Canned Heat version.
@TheWanderinMinstrel I agree with, you but nobody should ever attempt to achieve a unique interpretation of someone elses original. Music is a living entity and the number of ways in which one song can be reinterpreted is endless. I think that's what keeps music alive, and very often a new version of somebody elses work can prompt people to take a fresh look or even a first time look at the original artist. I bet Canned Heat have had a good few hits since this people saw this one.
@blackbeasthamish I wasn't disputing the quality of the Roxy Music version. It is probably one of their most famous tracks... But I feel that Canned Heats version was clearly the blue print Ferry and Co used. The difference between the two songs reflecting the changing mood of the times. Canned Heats 1970 track being a rather heavier guitar lead version than the Sax driven version created here.
@TheWanderinMinstrel There is no doubt at all that the Roxy Music version was derived from Canned Heat's original. I think the quality is good, and I never have any problems with reinterpretation of original work provided the integrity of the piece is maintained. As you said, these often capture the changing mood of the times, and in this case although they are different I can appreciate and enjoy each on its own merit.
@RaunchyLobster Yes it is you tone deaf c*ck-sucker. Ferry himself credits the Canned Heat song as being the Wil Harrison version he chose to cover. I suggest that you learn a f*cking instrument before attempting to make any further comments regarding music, arsebreath!!!
@TheWanderinMinstrel Ok, so because i said that this isn't Lets work together, because it is not. It is a version of it. Gotta learn to read the details my friend. And what does learning an instrument have to do with anything? I already know how to play instruments. Stop trying to insult people..
@RaunchyLobster You said "No, shut the fuck up." You didn't offer any other explanation because you clearly haven't got a clue about the subject your trying to be clever about. The ability to master some form of musical instrument might give you the 'ear' to discern the obvious similarities between certain pieces of music. Your just some gay sheep shagger as you clearly state in your channel. Be warned, when making unqualified comments on here, there are many who will expose your stupidity.
@ellycat No, because a moderate amount of alcohol is not being an alcoholic. Where did you get the idea that zekct747 was talking about medicinal herb? He never mentioned the words "medicinal herb".
Also, yes, taking any kind of illegal drug to get high (or "chilled out/relaxed as some would call it just to convince themselves that they are not junkies and don't have a problem) is being a junkie.
@250Trojan Because it's obvious. If you think that smoking occasional ganja to chill out are junkies you need to do some research, mate. Alcohol made by man. Ganja created by God. Who do you trust.? I work with addicts ( not ganja, charas, weed, ( call it what you want ) and it is a recognised disease by the W.H.O. and I find calling addicts 'druggies' very derogatory. Marijuana is very therapeutic to recovering addicts. You carry on poisoning your liver with the hard stuff, then.
@ellycat [quote] "You carry on poisoning your liver with the hard stuff, then."
I don't drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or take drugs. So your assupmtion about me poisoning my liver with alcohol is wrong. Even so, drugs are worse than alcohol.
@Youcanonacanon 1970's clubs could be REAL Sleazy. In some the carpets would become soaked in beer and the crepe soles on one's shoes would stick to the carpet. Sleaze with a capital "S". Or should I say the crepe souls would stick?
damn, i had a c. d. with this song on it. i loved the whole c.d. and i can't remember if it was a best of or what and what's worse i can't remember the name of the song im looking for except that it was the first song on the c.d. and it seems like the word magic was somewhere there..... let me think, lemme think.
