  • My God! What a beautiful sister with an equally beautiful expression. I first googled on Jobim's Useless Landscape thinking she was a Brazilian diva and ventured into this discovery! Amazing fingers on the bass!

  • Enjoyed the performance! Bravo!!

  • @chj2 so sorry i don't have a web cam or a digital camera, but i am working on it! Lots of love and thanx!

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooww! she a person to admire of course!

  • if only people knew how damn hard that it.

  • "....Brightest young star...."

Darn it! Makes me wish she'd play "Another Star" as well.

    Shucks!

  • Her scatting gave me chills at the end!!! WOW!!

  • This beautiful songstress gives an excellent tribute to Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed" with enormous talent, however not to detract, but to clarify she has not "reached" Jill Scott's level. Jill is a lyric and spinto soprano and masters clarity in the whistle registry. Jill's success is first from her own creations and writings. Jill Scott performed at the White House as a spoken word artist, critics labeled her the Daughter Angelou. Just a word of caution artists are distinct, they don't compete.

  • Over...rated....

  • @MsMercy111 lol oh yea?

  • instruments are so off from each other...

  • TO play that and sing must be hard as hell.I aint crazy about her songs but as far as talent and the best she rightfully won.I hate JB .Drake made more songs that i Listen to he got hits and hes talented and had the biggest year but I'm looking at how she is beautiful but has no vanity or over confident but yet able to sing well and play a bass i think its a bass.I hope she does some stuff wit tribe call quest or the roots Jill scott you know.Cause That could take her to the next level.

  • @HERBLANDZ , trust me, I love Tribe Called Quest, The Roots and Jill Scott, but this woman is FAR beyond them. I mean, if anything, it would be a cool collaboration, but her compositions as a solo artist are on so much of a higher level than them in so many ways. They could not handle her.

  • @VanessaMElder nah I disagree too many times to that far beyond tribe called quest and jill scott mess hmmm i didnt need to see that crap in my inbox. She good and i respect her talent but i know people hype anything that aint autotuned or popular far beyond OK :).Me saying she needs to work with those people didnt mean she needed to be better.I said it because they could give her exposer to people that dont know her which is a hell of alot. dont down legendary people to bring her up.

  • @VanessaMElder Im sorry but i get a little personal when somebody says stuff like someone is far beyond jilly from Philly and tribe call quest. It just hit a nerve. We have lots of real artists but we dont have any like tribe jill or roots.I like esperanza but I think even AMEL from groove theory surpasses this chick.esperanza is good.she won her grammy cause she had the purest of talent next to drake and JB.Surpassing classic poetic hit makers like tribe jill or the roots.NAH!

  • @VanessaMElder ANd she has worked with tribe in a session and she felt so blessed and inspired and they gave her praise. The not being able to handle her comment is something else.

  • So in love with her music!!!!! I'm going to her concert in October!! yeah~~~!!!

  • she got a nice sound

  • Wow

  • Smoking Hot

  • i love u...!!!!

  • A woman like this doesn't belong to anyone but God. She has the presence of an earth bound Angel waiting to ascend.

  • @icdemfromafar what?

  • you are my dream girl!

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • ony 1 word, wow, you blew me away girl!

  • Esperanza is my futur wife.

  • @BillieHoliday420 No she's not! NO SHE'S NOT!!! She's MINE I tell you! MINE!!!

  • Not since Jaco Pastorius has a bassist been so exciting and original. Congrats to Esperanza

  • Superb!!!!

  • who pressed the dislike purposefully. come forward.... so i can slap the ignorant taste out of their ear....

  • @treebee69 Hey now don't be hating on us! We like jazz too... >__>

  • @Spryt07 Slap? I'll bodyslam that punk!!!!

  • @Spryt07 I'll gladly lend you my hand to accomplish that task. :)

  • @Spryt07 occaaayyyy

  • finally music with true soul and groove!! yay!

  • she deserved that grammy... fuck drake and beeber

  • es hermosa

  • this is real talent. ;) she definately deserved that grammy

  • Overjoyed about your Grammy Win!!!

  • this gives me hope that maybe some folks in the world still appreciate real music. my jaw did drop when i heard that she beat bieber. not cuz i'm a beiber fan, but because i thought real music lovers didn't exist anymore and if they did, their voices and opinions on music industry creations (aka artists) had long since been silenced! at least now i know the world is ready for real music. gives me hope!

  • It's so nice to know that there are musical angels out there still reminding us that real music still exists. My Heart hears you Esperanza and is grateful!

  • 2 disgruntled ex-boyfriends? <3

  • I can't believe people tripped over her winning over Beiber. She truly earned the grammy.

  • congrats to the grammys for finally giving out awards to true talent

  • Even though Satanic forces have taken over radio and Television,an angels voice can still reach the masses!

  • I'm going to listen this Dear Esperanza while working...

    isn't it ?

  • Bravo!

  • Love This Sister !!!!

  • Esperanza Spalding gives us all hope

  • LOVE IT!

  • Great post. I'm proud of her.

  • i knew she was going to be big last year. awesome

  • White House! That's a good reason to beat the rest.

  • your my new idol!!!...you're AWESOME!!!:))

  • Now I can see how she beat out Mumford and Sons! She's awesome!

  • @ soundbombin: PREACH! Enlighten the clueless!!!

  • The awkward moment when Esperanza Spalding wins a Grammy and no one knows who she is.

  • She's very pretty.

  • What a refreshing change from the hum drum pop world...She makes me proud to be a die-hard jazz fan... and she is as beautiful as the butterfly that she is! Congrats (on a well deserved) Grammy Award, Esperanza!

  • One person is a Bieber fan

  • Her voice gives me CHILLS! Why can't more vocalists come correct like her?

  • Congrats to her! But I am not impressed. Her voice is not all that. But good for her.

  • @mspinkytee Jealous much? smh quit hating for real.

  • You don't see justin bieber preforming at the white house for a reason....says a lot

  • @DonChaplin Is it really necessary to bash a 16 year old for being the biggest artist of 2010 to lift another artist up? Grow up. Stop being an old fogie, and that's coming from a grown woman.

  • @artsylovelylady its neccessary to bash a 16 yr old whos singlehandedly bringing down the music industry

  • @music4ever550 You sound crazy. Did the Beatles, Cheap Trick, the Monkies, Donny Osmond, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis or any other pop act bring down the music industry? A new generation has moved onto the music scene. You don't have to get it. You just have to get over it in order to keep up with the times. Jazz is going nowhere, literally. That's because many jazz purists refuse to allow the genre to experiment with technology and evolve to reach the new generation.

  • @artsylovelylady technology is ruining music, artists now aren't able to perform live anymore (that's actually partly why the beatles broke up, cause they used too many studio effects)

  • @music4ever550 The Beatles broke up because John wanted to do something else and Yoko Ono gave him an excuse to leave. People once said the electric guitar was going to kill music. It didn't. It only created new genres. Music genres like jazz, blues and rock were born out of innovation. When the audience refuses to allow artists free reign to innovate, the sound gets stuck. It only repeats itself with new faces. The purists remain but everybody else moves on in search of the new sound.

  • @artsylovelylady look im all for new sounds man but pop music is just, ugh i don't know, it's bad, there just isn't any creativity, these pop musicians whore themselves out to record companies for money

  • @music4ever550 Some of those pop singers writes their music. Nothing whorish about that. Some people hear jazz and go, "ugh, the same old songs and the same old sound for the past 50 years." In this clip Esperanza is singing a song that was released before most 20 somethings were born. I just say let people enjoy their music. It isn't bad. It's just different from what you like. I think "King of Anything," "Dog Days Are Gone" and "Boom Boom Pow" are very creative.

  • Much deserved over Bieber...congrats on the Grammy.

  • Congrats to Best New Artist Esperanza Spalding!!!!! She owned this song down to the T!!!! Whooo made me have gooosebumps!!!

  • Best New Artist Esperanza Spalding...What, who is she...I dont think anyone saw that coming.....

  • @OnlyChild28 The jazz community solidified behind her in that category. The other artists split their votes. The result is that she couldn't help but win. When you put one representative of a particular category up against a group of people from roughly the same categories, the odd one out has a better shot at winning in whichever type of contest you're looking at. That doesn't take anything away from her win. It just goes to show that a little strategy makes a big difference in the outcome.

  • @artsylovelylady Esperanza Spalding gives us all hope..check my music out also at soundclick Only Child

  • Love how a few of my friends were like 'who is this girl, can't believe she beat DRake and Bieber?!'....Well I can! You don't need the engine called radio and hype to get you the recognition all the time. Pure Raw Talent wins out in the end! Congrats to Esperanza!

  • @soundbombin23 hell to the yeah HELL TO THE YES!!! right on great comment lol

  • @soundbombin23 who r drake and bieber???? hahahahahahahha....:D:D:D:D:D:D i mean who are they compare to this...congratas to esperanza as well!!!!!

  • a grammy win congrats, you are the cats meow

  • she got a grammy yay!

  • Congrats on your Grammy Win!!!

  • From GED to college professor, and she plays her butt off!

  • @scumber56 Yeah, and the school is Berklee Schol of Music, where many, many great musicians went to school. I think of John Mayer, and Natalie Maines, plus a lot of others in all different genres of music!

  • I'd give just about anything to be married to her lol amazing all around.
