  • Loved the book. Inspired me a lot! Can't wait to see the movie.

  • Oh , if you wondering what i'm on about how about researching ,Coal Seam Gas Fraking, RatSac Fluoride in our drink water , CHemtrailing us cockroaches with Barium/ Aliminium or Ethylene DiBromide, the 2 pesticides wiping out the bees worldwide that gov refuses to ban. Deadly WIFI & EMF radiation waves from SmartMeters Phones etc , Codex Alimentarius GMO food Monsanto Crap & now US Gov wanna pass laws to murder shitloads of Americans in the hundreds thousands HR 3166 Expatriation Act.WakeUp..

  • This is pathetic , this is the type of vid government would love cept they go one step further & encourage 12 year old kids on ABC TV to commit suicide because of The Carbon Calculator where they say is just cause they exceeding their allowable limit of Oxygen they are allowed to breathe. Sadly this guy/ family is brainwashed beleiving the lies, when we could be doing much better than this & defying real alternatives that gov lie to us about. Gov is doin damage in ways you got no idea bout.

  • people like this are the reason this world is fucked up. they look down upon regular people. and the worst part is you retards look up to this dumbass. what the fuck does he do thats so great? oh thats great that hes a fucking hippie that chooses to live a shitty life just so he can look down on everybody else. you dumbasses are just feeding his ego. and lastly, if you honestly believe that global warming is going to kill us all, you're a fucking dumbass. and most likely a stupid fucking liberal

  • I'm going to lower my impact by watching it on the internet. I can't do 'no impact' though as I enjoy breathing.

  • What is that song at 1:45?

  • this is obnoxious.

  • this man and his familly are my heroes!

  • The book and the massive packaging of the dvd my teacher showed us...oh and the postcard that comes with the dvd.

  • @sugarplums86 maybe thats why its free on youtube...

  • Doesn't mass producing a book hurt the environment?

  • I have to read the book :/ It's pretty good so far though :D

  • very awesome

  • nO IMPACT MAN: WHITE PRIVILEGED MAN REALIZES POOR PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOING THIS

  • i have to do a book report for this..... dammit

  • This is an amazing project, and it certainly helps those people who have the sensitivity to wake up to what we're doing to this planet. Colin is very honest about what a struggle this lifestyle is, while also providing valuable guidance. If you'd rather sit eating Twinkies and whining about others' compassion, that's your choice. I'd suggest picking up the book, for those of you who are watching this trailer for a kinder reason.

  • @Arrivinglate ur da fukin troll dat started talkin shit out of ni where. dont expect for someone to respond back to ur ass !

  • @bigal20241 u too, dam I got a lot of fans !!!

  • @Arrivinglate shut da fuk up Pussy ! I dnt giv a fuk about grammar, especially on da net ! Also half of dat sht wer typos. And for ur information I do hav an education, a better one thn ur's I bet ! So I'll giv u an option c) Fuk off & thnk before u talk

  • @MEMPHISBUTCHA I did not say you didn't have an education, I simply pointed out you use grammar and type like a monkey. Also that option C is far more suited for you good sir, saying you have a better education then someone using 'internet lingo' AND the words 'da' and 'dat' really doesn't back your claims up.

  • @Arrivinglate Thanks for trying, but it's no use to argue with trolls or people too stupid to present their arguments in a logical way.

To everyone saying No Impact Man should go move to the country and live on the land, he actually talks about that. Because so many people live in urban environments nowadays, his goal was SPECIFICALLY to see if he could succeed in the city :] City dwellers make a HUGE impact by numbers alone. If they can't learn to reduce their ecological imprints, yikes!

  • @Vixlacimaa Got to love the internet trolls.

  • @MEMPHISBUTCHA your sooo tough... hahahahahah

  • Dam eco freaks !!! That's takin ir to dam far !!! If he wants to be eco friendly, he should move to a a dam jungle !!!

  • @MEMPHISBUTCHA Damn ass-holes who can not use proper grammar and end up looking like dumb asses! If they don't like it maybe they should either A) Don't watch it or B) Go back to school and take an english course!

  • I'm currently reading the book he wrote based on this project.

  • @drakoJinVI18 i am reading it too. it is an eye opening project...

  • This man has inspired me to make a difference.

  • Good for him! We have a similar guy in the UK, he lived for a year without money. He was a bit idealistic, but apparently the experiment was a success. I'm happy for him.

  • jeeeeesus these guys are freaks. just fucking live your life. dont obsess about this kind of shit. I have respect for all kind of dreams, but it's hard to believe that this guy wants to do this

  • what IF the entire world did this just ONE day hmmmmm

  • @byungchan123 Then basically human progress would fall back about one and a half day...

  • Umm hey, if you need to do your laundry w/o electricity, the Best thing to use is a clean, sterilized (brand new is best of course) toilet plunger. Its better than feet (sigh) and better than a washboard, buttons and finery die on washboards.

I lived in an extremely rural area for a few yrs and bcs of that I can even pioneer a piece of land, no electricity or running water and go to bed clean as a whistle every night, even in the dead of winter.

  • Had to buy this after seeing it on Saterday morning.

  • Fuckin hippie gdi

  • I bet they don't live like that now. It wasn't meant to be long term, and if it was they set themselves up to fail.

  • How can anyone say he went too far or that he's insane? I just watched it and I'm the one who feels insane and over the line- big time!

Just looking at all the plastic bags and stuff I buy just so I can come home, take the product out and then throw the bag away??!!

And good one on decycling the plastic.

Btw, I don't care who the guy is and who his family is, but it really got to me what are they doing.

And come on, you can't say he's wrong and still be honest with yourself.

  • i already know what the twist is.

the wife turns out to be the bad guy!!

  • it would work if you lived on a farm not really manageable in an apartment

  • he sounds like hes a douche to his wife

  • Just saw this doc and wow! What an eye opener! A little extreme for me tho' (well, a lot extreme) but it does makes me realize I could do more to leave the earth in better shape. Just recycling, walking ocassionally, buying some local food and turning off lights doesn't cut it. I'm feeling very guilty for having just replaced my 15 yr old tube TV (which I rarely watch) with a new HD LCD...

  • @bigskyview i totally agree..i feel guilty getting a new laptop(after only 4 years of use). but i have an aunt who still uses the same cell phone she bought 10 years back. talk about extreme..lol. but she does it cuz she's stingy not cuz she wants to save the planet.

  • this guy went too far -plain and simple. He was better off becoming an Amish

  • I loved this book, but I didn't know there was a movie! Where can I find this movie?

  • @NickiSwims try to find a torrent

  • @NickiSwims It's on netflix.

  • this is great!

  • Comment removed

  • super interesting!

  • love the song playing at 1:47...anyone know where I can get it?

  • Everyone here needs to watch ZEITGEIST ADDENDUM if you havent already. Watch it please

  • An unknown journalist makes a marketing compaign for his upcoming book.

No impact looks different, this is the "we don´t us toilet paper" show.

toilet paper is not the problem, water is it. coffee is the problem not the paper cup.

and the worst thing is - without a community of equal minded you will be nothing but a eco-clown

  • Got 2 hours of massages done for the evening, now time for a glass of wine, some good eats and this movie i ordered from the library....

  • Got 2 hours of massage done for the evening, now some merlot, a snack and this is my movie for tonight.

  • interesting concept....some things i could do in my own life would be to watch Less TV...take the stairs more, & re-cycle.

  • I watched this film a few weeks ago and it was really good. I encourage everyone to see this film and do something good for the environment by giving up things they don't really need. Eat less meat, eat fresh fruit and vegetables, walk rather than ride; stuff like that.

  • great - this movie will chancge a lot!

when will it come out in germany??

  • great - this movie will chancge a lot!

when will it come out in germany??

  • Thank you sooooo much No Impact man!!!! Well I wont be able to do most of the things like u hv done in the movie...But u inspired me...I stopped using my car and now uses public transport...It was really hard for the first week...but now I am happy...and i think i am a Low impact Man.....even though not a No impact man...

  • people need to be more aware of the impact of there actions and the impact of when there is no action taken. we need to try to learn from our mistakes and try to improve as a species for the sake of future generations and frown a pound the in considered and wasteful members of our society. We are all able to make a impact on the world in a positive way. all we need to do is take a moment and think before we act.

  • he gets upset when things are individually wrapped in plastic....

i get upset when a person tells me that hes upset over individually wrapped things.

fuck him and his assclown wife.

  • @exacto8

    use your head

  • Yes he's extreme but at least he's doing something. It looks like great movie and looking forward to seeing it,.

mtsdivine: "obviously gay" And what exactly does that mean? I had no idea that a GAY looks or acts a certain way, please enlighten me.

  • funny how for me to watch this at a theatre, or even in my home, I must have an "impact." Eh...

  • @mlschott its not about the impact its about the lifestyle. Finding ways to actually benefit outselves without making an unneeded impact. billions of clean water a day are getting contaminated as they go down the drain, unused, and into the sewer. its not about making no impact, its about making less impact and being happier and healthier. if watching the film shows you how much better life can be, then that is a positive impact.

  • Very engaging movie. And its message, for those who are open to hearing it, is that when we live a more natural live with less consumption an a connection to the outdoors, we are actually happier. Most of us in the West never get a chance to find out what it feels like to be a homo sapiens in our

  • natural environment. Well, it feels much better than to be one in the artificial environment we've created. Perhaps we will become liberated from our technology through our technology. And perhaps we will have to find a way to curb our relentless creative drive.

  • This was just a ploy by a writer to come up with his next topic to write about. If he was sincere, in any way at all, he wouldn't have published the book afterwards, and would have become a farmer. The people that ran the farms in the movie were producing in an earth friendly way. All this guy was doing was trying not to waste as much. Typical New York City liberal crap. One thing I found interesting about the movie was the fact that he has a wife and kid when he is so obviously gay.

  • @mtsdivine Dam those gay guys who steel our straight women............perhaps his wife just has more refined taste!!!

  • @romanaveratrelundar yeah....refined at being a total pussy. That's what all the hot women are looking for. She might be a little confused herself.

  • 2:10 <3

  • Great movie. Lol to the person who says the earth dies. We die when we screw up our living environment (food, water, air, weather) not to mention the rest of the animals on this earth. The earth lives on with or without us, and hopefully some plants might make it too, maybe some cockroaches :p

  • this was an awesome movie I would recommend it!

  • yes everything does eventually die, like the saying goes nothing last forever, but wouldnt you like to die seeing the world a better place, instead of a garbage infested, flooded, warm, dying place

  • Comment removed

  • a great idea!!!

  • love what he has to say about his weight loss and his wife's diabetes reversal...how about that for impact!

  • Just finished the book :)

  • I mostly think of the George Carlin view on saving the planet which is a false pitch. The truth is really we would be saving humanities future which would be very dark once a resource runs out. Humans and Americans especially are too spoiled and selfish to commit to a system of zero growth and waste while keeping consumption only to renewable resources at the rate they are produced. I try not to think about it anymore, how hopeless our species is. I await our doom at the coming great war.

  • Everything dies including the earth someday so why t make your life difficult trying to prevent the inevitable.

  • Are they still getting running water though? That has an impact...

  • So does consuming food, but I think they want to not die.

  • I'm sure this country is filled with caves - BE MY GUEST morons. ;-) Since the beginning of mankind we have tried to get out of the cave NOW YOU want to go back. DO IT! See ya around.

  • you are funny, he he he!!

  • Looks like a wonderful movie! I want to see it. For our family it would be No Impact Woman. I am GREEN my husband is BLACK. What is bigmovies4free?

  • Read non-mainstream books to learn some truths about the environment that the 'Green" movement does not want us to know... learn about the global warming hoax etc...

  • I wanna live like that so bad <3

I envy anyone who gets too.

  • What's stopping you?

  • well majority of my family would not be up for living like this

I hope one day i meet someone who wants to experience this kind of lifestyle.

  • @LilMissNature i do. =/

  • Realy?

    <3

    Lucky you!

  • deja-vu. what's the difference between this and the earlier "Katastrofin aineksia" (Recipes for Disasters)?

  • Que alguien traduzca o doble en español por favor!!!

  • Amazing! -- What an inspiration!

  • This video definitely made me cry. What an amazing project! My boyfriend and I have been working on doing a lot of these things... It's always encouraging to hear others' stories.

  • too bad he's being documented, causing electricity to be used by cameras, microphones, etc.

    FAIL

  • I think it's neat that he is trying so hard to conserve and not make an impact...however...I think it's impossible to do and there will be bazillions of people who don't care no matter what you say and they will be enjoying technology til the end and he will be struggling all his life to make a difference. Catch 22.....It's like war......you fight, you lose...you don't fight you lose.....sad

  • I can tell you from experience, lose tv and don't watch it for 3-4 years, you won't miss it. Our's broke and somehow I frogot about it and I didn't care since I have a comp. So now after few years I tried to watch it and it was so horrible, so much shit, really :D Maybe it's not still so ecological with the computer but stil. If I want to read the news, I just read them from the net, If I want to watch a movie, I watch it. No commercials, or breaks or nothing. And even the electric bill is cut.

  • right :)

  • @katieshealinggarden you should really read his book before you criticise him. He is much more happy with his life than he was. It's not that fact that we use technology. It's not about that. It's about a lifestyle change. He was seeing what it would be like to NOT use these things for a while so he could choose what actually benefits us as a human being. He is much happier and healthier and more social and has more SEX without making trash or importing food.

  • @socketerror From my point of view I admire him and others who made good things. I am not against you, everyone has their own rights for a reply and personal opinion. Good luck and a better world for every one! (...and not just for me and you! :P )

  • @socketerror whatever he made millions or not, he's not the only person in the world who made or not made a million but for sure there will be some of us who really learn a lesson. I am very for NLP and noticed many of us love to do things if "others" will do it and this guy is asking to try do something for a week and for yourself.

  • Can anyone tell me where is this playing? I would love to go see it.

  • Once upon a time Australia had a Prime Minister who attempted to halt the trial of a safe injecting room in Kings Cross, Sydney. Run by a local church with trained staff, a needle exchange, referals to methadone clinics, etc., Howard's cry was, "What sort of message does it send."

More power to people who can effectively get a message across about conserving resources, undermining habits of consumption ingrained after a lifetime of browbeating from family, friends, neighbours and tv.

  • I think he's really trying to encourage self-examination. Do we only view our "needs" as such because we've just become accustomed to doing things a certain way? Is there a different way that will lessen the impact on the earth and even make our lives better and happier?

It's easy just to dismiss his points because he is profiting from the message, or because he lives in the city, or whatever, but what does that accomplish? Every little bit helps, each small change helps toward big changes.

  • Well, it's impossible for any organism to exist on this planet without making any impact. I guess the idea should be just to try and lessen your impact, not get rid of it completely.

  • Why does making a profit discount the message he's trying to send? I don't get it. The last time I checked, we all still have to work; we all make a profit at whatever job we do. Do you work for free? I doubt it. Well, he's working and trying to help open people's eyes at the same time. Why is it a bad message because he's earning a living from it?

So easy to say "He's making tons of money off of this. It's just a bunch of crap"...because then you don't actually have to change at all.

  • I think this is a great idea but really wonder whether I could do it. The average american has an ecological footprint almost 4 times the global average and if all humans lived to our level it would take more than four earths to supply the resources. Hard choices are going to have to be made and maybe No Impact Man is leading the way.

  • move to a farm and milk some cows, grow some crops, generate your own electricity using a windmill or solar and get off the grid if you want to not make an impact! this is bullshit, living in NYC this guy only lives off the impact that others have made around him.

  • Can't wait to see what habits I can adopt for myself and my family!

  • kind of odd that he doesn't use his TV but makes a movie that we have to watch on ours. he won't be expending energy but he's going to cause thousands of people to expend their energy. i hope no one buys popcorn at the theater

  • Yea, interesting point. But sometimes when someone does something extreme, maybe it could move us to make at least small changes to improve our lives and maybe there could be a ripple effect. We're going to see the next movie either way, right? :-)

  • @AuntLaya Exactly!!! Take care.

  • @GreySea19 oh my god then don't even move because you're expending energy, some people really miss the point of things.

  • i want to watch this movie... but i am from Bulgaria... is there any chance i cen download the movie from... i don't know... anywhere? :)

  • It's not out yet.

  • Where's his prius?

  • Only pretentious wankers buy those. :D

  • "No" impact means he's trying to have a zero impact on the environment. Hybrids still use gasoline/energy; thus, they still have an impact.

  • He lives in manhatten, nobody needs a friggin car there.

  • i saw it already

    on dvd early

  • anxious to see it, perhaps it will help change just ONE wasteful habit of everyone that does watch! Great job!

  • This looks like Morgan Spurlock's 30 Days experiement....times 12.

  • I love watching documenturies so. This one looks pretty good. I know I couldn't handle going without electricity and tv...
