It's just bunny hopping while RJing, it's very easy on PC, tho on 360 I can see directional RJing can be hard (seeing as turning speed is much slower compared to a mouse).

It only gets easier with the demo as you don't even need to fire while looking at your feet.

you are probably crouching at the wrong time, you need to jump first, then crouch in air and then shoot a rocket at your feet.

its quite simple after u practice. k for rocket jump..the simplest one.. all u do is shoot under urself. for superjump our jump and shoot.. to acheive best results, shoot BEFORE you reach the peak of your jump. to do UBER jumps, you jump+crouch*+shoot*

If you need to figure this out, find a nice empty server with no time limits and just setup your soldier to practice health/suicide practice. It's just a matter of time before you get your timing right for basic vertical rocket-jumps in ctf_fort and then add the crouch into the combo to pop some sweet distance. Recstylers videos really do help with some of the maps jumps like granary and gravel pit. I went from total rocket n00b to sw33t in about 4 hours.

The way you are launched so far (as compared to when an enemy soldier's rocket hits you) is because the explosion is magnified by your upwards momentum. So if you're already heading in a direction and you put an explosion there before your jump momentum dwindles, it will multiply and send you hella far :)

Try the Skyscraper maps as soldier to practice.

You cannot jump while in crouch mode (try crouching and hit jump to confirm).

It's called the "Jump-Duck", and it involves jumping, crouching the instant you've jumped, then firing the instant you've crouched.

Although it appears simultaneous, the order is as I just listed, but as close together as you can get it.
