She was the best The Opry 's Cast of people let this happen to her sombody could have sent a cab or went out of their way a little to give her a ride to the Opry...
Her death, and the months leading up to her death were so incredibly unfair and sad. Patsy Cline, Keith Whitley, Hank, Elvis, and others, while their deaths were certainly terrible, they did not pass under such humiliating circumstances. I know that everyone has to pay their taxes, but it seems like Uncle Sam totally and viciously destroyed this remarkable woman. To me, Dottie West's story is a true modern tragedy.

Not exactly Country Sunshine. She changed over time from a country singer to a lounge singer. Same for the appearance. Sorry, I just think you should dance with the one that brung you!
@MyJustified I agree.... If the only motive for being an artist is to do what you do for money. But you see where that goes. People will do a lot of things for the money. Allison Kraus has always done music her way, not conforming to the "pop" way. And she is an enduring talent and artist. Same with Rhonda Vincent, Connie Smith, Loretta Lynn, and a whole host of others who stayed true to their roots. In my opinion, "country music" today is little more than bastardized pop!
It is hard to believe that she has been gone from us for almost twenty years now. I remember the day she died, I was a senior in High School. Thank you for the video of the late great Dottie West. Her music will live on forever.
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums, "Special Delivery". I have been a Dottie freak since I was little bitty. there was something very special about this lady. In a time of "girl singers", she brought girl power to country, writing her own songs, playing her own instruments, and making her own career choices. She bucked the system; that's why she's not in the Hall of Fame as she should be. Dottie was nothing short of fabulous, and I'm glad to see so much of her here.
I lift things up & put them down!!!!!

@joepilot48 Why shouldnt she have changed her style, it proved a woman in her late 40's could still hit the top.
