I don't think they were born here. cause they originally sang in Iran as an underground rock band. and I think some of the band members live in Canada now so.. I don't think they're exactly Iranian-American...
I love these guys for having brought something new to Iranian music. They along with Mohsen Namjoo are my favorites. As far as kiosk goes though I have to admit that I wold like to see something new other than the gypsy/blues jango music from them next.
oooohhhh, what can I say, just beautiful, touching, some how reminds me of the time I fell in love with Ardi, the love of my life wich ,I lost 18 years ago,I love you Ardi
ladankhanoom: This is your Ardi. I never forgot you and I love you too.
A lot has happened since all those long 18 years now, some good, some not so good. But I want you back...
Only if you have me back though!
A lot has happened :(
All that lovely hair of mine is unfortunately no longer there :(
I have been married and divorced 5 times and have no money since all I earn goes towards the allowance for my 9 kids 3 of whom are in prison on drug charges :(
Hessam, just Don't read comments if you want to ignore others, these are NOT captions on the video!
I saw them live tonight. They are better live than recorded material!
The trip performance was sponsored by Brandies U. though: partially funded by Israeli Gov.! And, instead of the cynical, very creative lyrics, he had "Ahmadinezhad Capshen" in one of his songs!
They already slipping to political slogan from coded lyrics, once defying theocracy in ways unimaginable! They are slipping!
Don't analyze, this is music not politics. Baby learns to talk by listening to parents. Bob Dylon learned from someone, Dire straits from someone else. They each added their own flavor and passed it on. The fact is that Arash's voice makes their band worth listening to and their music is original in Persian music market. We're tired of 35 years of dambool dambool.
We are all tired of Dambool Dambool (ie: 6/8 latin inspired rhythms). let's inaugurate another 35 years of N. American protestive liberal jewish singing-style along with Bam-ba-bam, ba-ba-bam; bam-ba-bam ba-ba-bam!
Kiosk is a great N. American band with farsi lyrics. They know exactly what they are doing, but this is no points for Iranian culture. Hail to Cohen & Dylon!
IMO "strongly inspired" by Dire Straits, which was in turn nfluenced by L. Cohen and Bob Dylon.
IMO the profy manner of playing this style of rock, along with adapting farsi singing to it, is very original. They have, however, left Iran, the inspiration will die out.
How can you come up with a phrase like:" democraciye Dini, Pizzaye Ghorme-Zabzi" if you had not lived in the hybrid, shallowly-westernised, culture of IRI?
Dear Mr, Arash, I have been listening to your music and I think you are GREAT...., so refreshing. I am glad my sister introduce your works to me ^___^
finally, a new voice with a music video that's the first of its kind... Dariush with all due respect is still singing his "Chakavak" amidst the trees and it's nothing more than our love for him and his voice that keeps us watching it. This video was entertaining. % big stars for Kiosk here
I guess a family member (mostly likely an Ame or a Khale) has told this guy he sounds like Bob Dylan. That's what we need an Iranian doing a bad impression of a rock Icon and calling it Music. How original!!
Bob Dylan?! if anything this guy sounds a bit like mark knopfler. The vocals might sound like some other singer but whether you like it or their music as a whole is totally original and it ROCKS
Music or art in general is a matter of taste and preference. You like them, I don't and neither one of us is right or wrong. But ORIGINAL they are not, just like any other rock band, not all are original. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and a few more are innovators. Not everyone who plays an instrument is a trendsetter. Peace

But what are the lyrics saying?

Must be like where are you.
But rest?
I googled for the lyrics in English. But no success.
Could anyone give the lyrics in English Please?
