  • You mean relic look...I got this same guitar but it's a 60s model with a maple neck. I got it for the same reason, the nitrocellulose finish

  • @davem04ify Yeah, I love the flat finish too. I might put a maple neck on it some day.

  • thanks for uploadin the vid! its a nice sounding strat

  • @StratPlayer4Life Thanks, I really like it.

  • Hey dude, how do you feel about the jumbo frets? Do you find that you're ever unintentionally sharp from pressing too hard?

  • @RuckusAmsel I'm not crazy about them. I have vintage frets on my tele, which I prefer. I don't press hard enough to make them go sharp on the strat, but I do find that I some times inadvertently bend the notes as it is much easier with the big frets. It may also be because I have .09's on the strat instead of the .11 I have my tele.

  • @CodyCEngdahl Cool thank. I'll be sure to avoid buying this guitar no matter how good looking it is.

  • @RuckusAmsel No worries. I've considered changing the neck actually.

  • wich guitar is better for rock n roll... the highway one stratocaster or the highway one telecaster?

    Thank you!

  • @ramonlook79 Honestly, they're both kick ass rock n roll guitars. So you should try them both and pick the one that feels right to you. Personally, I like the tele. More rockers play strats, and strats are good for finesse playing. But there's nothing better than the rawness of a telecaster. Simple and basic. Think Joe Strummer from the Clash. Get a tele and put in a four-way switch and you can get a fat humbucker sound out it too.

  • why do you prefer this one over specials,I cant hear what you said?

  • @cybrhckr I think they are so very similar that you'd be fine with either. The only reason I like it over the special is the paint and finish. That and the pickups are the only difference. PIckups are an easy change either way.

  • I doubt very much that adding Fender noiseless pickups and a $600 John mayer sig neck would reduce value!!! That sounds stupid.

  • @vasagram Wow! That neck is almost as much as my strat! I get it though. I put a thinline reissue neck on my Mexican tele and SD vintage pickups. It's a better guitar now and I don't care about the value as long as it kicks ass when I play it. I looked up the specs on that John Mayer, I love 6105 fret wire!

  • @CodyCEngdahl Exactly!! It's all about the sound. The only thing that i could not afford was the custom J.Mayer Big Dipper pickups which are in my opinion the best pickups you can put on a fender. But im happy with my rig. The neck came from the custom john mayer "black one" which were only limited to 500 units worldwide! So i was lucky to get it. But it honestly sound a million times better than the stock.

  • @vasagram if you take the orignal and change anything one it it's not

original anymore and it does effect the value.

  • the fender ping tunners that are one the highway one sss strats have a 16 to 1 gear

ratio there is no reason to change them. also remember if you alter the guitar in any way you have reduced the value in the future.

  • I have the exact same guitar but mine is a dark rosewood color almost looks black and i replaced the pickups with fender noiseless as they sound better for blues. I bought a john mayer sig neck from the states and now it sounds perfect. Really good guitar well worth the price.

  • @vasagram Even between the two I had to choose from, there was a big difference in the color of the rosewood. I'd love to see and hear what your guitar sounds like. You should shoot a video.

  • the 2007 highway one sss strats are also hard to fine and are highly sought after

and if you can even find one it will cost you $1,200 TO $1,300 they are well worth

    the price.

  • @stratdem dude you are everywhere! ive been researching highway one strats for a few days now and i see your comments on youtube about how the price of these guitars are $1,200 to $1,300 nowadays. i was at guitar center this morning and they have them for only $699.00. also on musicians friend for the same price. in fact i just saw one on craigslist, a honey blonde2005 highway 1 for trade for a fender blues jr. i'm getting that. i happen to have an old blues jr. that i,m willing to trade.

  • @t0psecretshit Yeah, I get around...I think I a Blues Jr. for a highway one is a pretty fair trade. I paid $630 for my strat and $550 for my blues Jr. so I think you're going to make out on that one. If I had said that they were going for 1,200 bucks, I was grossly mistaken. I think you shouldn't pay any more than $600 for a used one that's in perfect condition.

  • @CodyCEngdahl oh sorry cody. my comment was for stratdem. i see his comment everywhere on youtube cmmenting about how highway ones are now $1200 to $1400. anyway i liked your review. you explained all of the feature and thepickup tones quite well. awesome playing too.

  • hey, do you know if best buy sells that same color but with a maple neck?

  • @MrPeteyboo If they did I would have bought one. The problem is that Fender doesn't offer them with maple necks anymore. So it you see one, buy it immediately.

  • @CodyCEngdahl i see, I'm wondering if guitar center would special order one.

  • Excuse me, but I think you're wrong, the American Specials have texas specials and jumbo frets, finish is not the only difference... Very nice guitar! :-)

  • Highways' frets are medium jumbo...

  • @kobayashimaruaikiken Neck Shape: Modern "C" Shape Number of Frets: 22 Fret Size: Jumbo Frets Position Inlays: Black Dot Position Inlays Fingerboard: (300,306) Maple (300,306) Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 9.5" Radius (241 mm) Fretboard: Rosewood or Maple Neck Material: Maple Neck Finish: Satin Urethane Finish Nut Width: 1.6875" (43 mm) Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm) Headstock: Large '70s Style Neck Plate: Standard 4 Bolt Truss Rod Nut: 1/8" American Series Nut
  • @kobayashimaruaikiken I may have misspoke somewhere in there, but they both have jumbo frets. The American specials have something they're calling Texas Specials, but they're not the same as the custom shop version of the same name. The HW1's have overwound alnico III's. So the differences are in the pickups and finish. There may be others that I'm not aware of.

  • THE 2007 HIGHWAY ONE SSS STRATS are highly sought after

by guitarist/musicians i have seen the 2007 highway one sss strat

for $1,200 to $1,400. theres other sites on the web that talk about

the 2007 highway one strats and how most strat players want one.

there very hard to find today but if you do and you have $1,200 GRAB IT!

  • @stratdem Wow! I'm glad I got one when I did. It was $699 but I got it for $625. But it was one of the last ones. They had it in a box in the back. Honestly, I had the money to buy an American standard but none of them compared to me.

  • @CodyCEngdahl you say its a 2008 strat. whats the difference between 2008 and 2007 highway ones?

  • @odingr There shouldn't be any. Fender redesigned the line in '06, so everything afterwords should be the same. However, Fender did start discontinuing some of the colors, including the honeyblond.

  • @odingr the 2007 highway one sss strats and only the 2007 models

have a 2 piece Alder body. not 3 piece like the other years. the 2007

models necks are not as wide as the others. and the all maple necks were rare

in 2007 they were mostly rosewood. theres the differnces.

  • @stratdem

So 2007 highway ones are different than 2008-2010 models?

  • @stratdem what about the 2007 hss highway ones?? i have one

  • Jeez Cody you got some talent there. NIce new guitar too. Your freestylin with the loopstation really works well. Sounded like a whole band just about. S/Tele description much appreciated too.... i started looking for my 2nd electric so trying to see the differences and find out what i like. You helped, so thank you.

  • Hey, Tristen! Thanks for watching. I think a tele is a great compliment to a strat. If you're playing and break a string on one, it's not a huge tonal difference to have the other as a back up. But then again, if you have two guitars you might want them to be totally different. So you might want something with humbuckers. Personally, I'm a single coil guy. The loop station is a good investment. Not only great for working on solos, but you've got to be diciplined laying down the rhythm track.

  • Actually it look a whole like the 77 Strat I used to have. Good sound tho. But I still like my Tele, and my Joe Pass Epi. Thanks for showing it off, and the info about Best Buy, I didn't know that. JC

  • @hasbeensinger You got it, JC, thanks for watching. I'm a tele man myself. Best Buy actually matched a sale at Guitar Center when I told them about it. I got 10% off and a free strap.
