  • buakaw's wai kru is epic.

  • i loved the warren fight. warren was trying to push buakaw in the weight and be a tough guy. buakaw just had that silly, goofy thai smile :D like he would never harm a fly

then in the fight buakaw does the wai kru right up in his face, and the poor guy was just backing up in the corner while buakaw was doing the shooting arrows dance to him.. and in the fight he ended up kicking im to little pieces :D

dont disrespect fighters like him :-)

  • @MuayThaiViking dont disrespect anyone.

  • is it me or is buakaw not coming from the heart with this ram muay

  • i wonder what would be the crowd reaction if this was done before in the boxing ring and tyson did this 0.0 :) i dont know why but i am very attracted to that dance :)

  • muaythai is not just punch, kicks, knee and elbow...it's much more than what you see. A good nuk muaythai respects others and treats others as if he'd want to be treated. He knows how to accept the truth when he lose the fight, and he doesnt be come arrogant when he won. WAI-KRU is the heart of muay thai. without his teacher (Kru) he is nobody. wai-kru is showing respect to his teacher, important people, and things in his life. in thai : Wai = show respect, kru = teacher. so, open your mind.

  • It´s so beautiful....

  • @ about 8:25 is he using "bow&arrow" or a lassow?

  • @disbealec a lasso... when i do my wai kru i do bow and arrow.. some do sword and stuff

  • @miguelz234 you can not beat the bow & arrow - stamp combination! :P

  • @disbealec its an arrow, that position is called Pra ram tam kwong or Rama following a deer, he circles his head as he pulls the arrow from his back he misses twice (you can see him shake his head) on the third one he hits (you can see him nod) there are lasso muay rams but this is an arrow.

  • One of the most beautifull Wai Kru in Muay Thai!!!!

    I love Muay Thai ;)

  • Er is geen betere, respect voor Por Pramuk!

  • buakaw has over 185 wins I dont think he cares were he fights

  • Buakaw most definitely cares where, when, he fights, and how much is paid!!!

  • Yes.. because he is professional. He fights for living and he certainly wont find with someone who isnt worth. Any fight can damage player's body.. its just one punch or kick that might do the damage.. whether it is top class or just a rookie.

  • Well said. Fighting in back alleys isnt exactly going to set him up for retirement, this is his job he has to think about life after Muay Thai

  • @NakMuayThai whatever Buakaw gets paid he deserves it..he trains harder than anybody.... if anyone has an issue with his money then they are just jealous

  • What professional wouldn't care was my point.

  • บัวขาวสุดยอดครับเพ่น้อง

  • Anyone knows when and where Buakaw will defend the the WMC title and who he´s fighting??

Also, when is the K1 Max Grand prix, should be pretty soon?

Please get back if you know.

  • They seem to have upgraded the stadium since i was there in june this year. Sad i dident have the chance to see buakaw, then my life would have been complete.

But it's kinda sad to see a fighter like buakaw in a turist atractment like this. :(

  • Nah, it just shows that he is human and doesnt care.

It's fun to be honest, not those guys like "No i'm pro i can't do this even for fun"

And I guess Buakaw also got some cash for it. Things like this makes him even more nice.

  • i wouldnt say he doesnt care, from what i understand the wai khru ram muay is a very important ritual and thai people (fighters & spectators alike) take it pretty seriously. But there's nothing wrong with a little demostration, trying to share a bit of your culture

  • BUAKAW

  • Nice Wai Kru. I know he took his time for the demonstration, but it was still pretty long.

  • hmmm this doesnt seems like his usual wai kru

  • The wai khru that buakaw is performing is the original one, that's why they shortened it a little...

    Because it's really long. :P

  • did he fight there?

  • What i see is a show for the turists.

  • thats what happens when your that famous, you get exploted, buakaw cant have much left in him fight wise hes 28 now, gotta keep the pennys comeing in

  • buakaw is 26 and he can fight for more years jomhod still fights and is about 35

  • MMA/WEC fighters average age is 32. Buakaw has alot to go unless otherwise.

  • never know, he might give it up after had been defeated by sato, but if he does that I will call a zee ze man.

  • ever play sport buddy? suppose you lost one game, would you give up all together? come on, man!The beauty of sport is sometimes you win. sometimes you lose. it's part of the game. All k1 fighters masato, andy, krus, sato...etc all have beaten each other one time or another. It's a cycle cos they usually ended up at finals. Besides, buakaw beats sato twice. KO him several times. And the 3rd time, it was buakaw til the last surprise minute. In addition,it takes more than a smile to reach k1 final.

  • Well losing a game isnt really like losing a fight. In team sports u can always count on next season...there are no seasons for fighters. Plus i could see guys like buakaw getting frustrated with all the politics in organizations like K1. Rule changes, questionable judging...he's made some good money, 26 is not an inconcievable age for a muay thai fighter to retire =/ just a thought

  • What is "Wai Kru"?

  • very simpley, the begining part walking around the ring then bowing, is to purify the ring to warn of bad spirts and to ask for protection from budda wile fighting, the bit on one knee is for the king of thailand, then the standing up part is to show the fighters control of his body an for respect to the trainers that have passed down there knoledge of muay thai, also to get some focus ready to fight in the ring, the dance is acully called ram muay, wai khru is just the praying part at the start

  • so the wai khru ram muay has religious implications? i'd heard it wasnt necessarily religious

  • Wai khru is more of a dance that based on thai/S.E asia methology. it's also a way of give a respect to your teacher/trainer. Respect is much important in thai society even in a bloody sport. Unlike MMA or reg. boxing. Truely,it's a way of warming up your mind and body before a fight. every figter goes through unimaginable thoughts before a match. Wai khru is sort of calm them down.

  • Not only nak muay Thai has to wai kroo, most or all of professionals, particularly in arts and sports, have to pay respect to their teachers. It is a part of Thai culture or tradition. The core concept of this is that they have learned or gained knowledges from someone who are worth respecting. Hope my English does not suck.

  • Thanks for posting that was the most complete Wai Kru demonstration I have ever seen. There was quite a bit I have never seen before. Each camp has their own Wai Kru correct?

You can actually see a little of Buakaw's personality in his Wai Kru.

  • Did he fight that night or was it just a Wai Kru demonstration?

  • Very nice! Thank you!!!

  • to be continued? :)
