There is no L in the Japanese language. When writing Japanese in the Latin alphabet(While I highly discourage this), you use R, and never L. However, with Horo's name, there are several reasons as to why it's Horo, not Holo.
1. Horokeu is the Ainu word for Wolf.
2. Horo is a Bulgarian folk dance.
It's obvious that it's Horo. Holo isn't even a word.
Never claimed it wasn't "Horo". Just pointing out that in Japanese the R and L are pronounced together. IF you try to speak with a Japanese accent. Anytime you use L or R, you will find your tongue to be in between where you would place either.
How do I know this? Because I'm of Japanese Decent.
Japanese use the "RL" sound when we would use either. Such as Nintendo's Legendary Hero of time "Link" or "RLiinku"
I'm learning Japanese, and pronounce it like they do. It's actually more of an LR than an RL, but you're basically just using your tongue in pronouncing the R. but it's never written as an L in Romaji. You don't write Kale ha, you write Kare ha. Get what I'm saying?
My statement is in inverse of your saying, you don't spell something originally using Japanese RL with L. I'm saying you can use the Japanese RL when in other languages you would use either R or L.
Like how Keri would be KeRLii.
While Sally, would be SaRLii
Both R and L both become RL.
I have seen a few names which in the alphabet use L instead of R, like "Len"
Horo's voice is gasm sauce.

In japanese the "L" and ther "R" are pronounced at the same time. So when when you spell a Japanese name/word with the alphabet, you can use either.

I just realized I have no idea why we are debating about this matter anyway. Who was it that said "Haro" was "Halo"?
If you mean how in the vid it says "Haloid" its taking "Ha" from Haro, and "loid" from vocaloid.
saijeehiguchi 3 years ago
where did Haro or Halo come from? there's no a. it's written ホロ. that's Horo.
