Thanks for preaching the whole TRUTH! Once saved always saved is to believe that someone once saved can kill your family/children never say they are sorry or repent and still go to heaven. THAT is crazy. God is just. We cannot live however we want and still expect to go to heaven. "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord" Heb 12:14 NIV. Wake up people. READ the Bible for YOUR own self. YOU will be held accountable!
A believer will be saved as long as he or she walks in the light. 1 John 1:7 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries. Heb. 10:26-27
it is a stanard response of the OSAS people to claim that denying OSAS is works salvation. it is nothing of the sort.
It is abding in christ, staying with the PERSON who is Jesus Christ, which saves us, as He continues to cleanse us of sin in the ongoing relationship which is discipleship with Him.
Hebrews 6:4 is absolutely clear. it describes those who partake of the spirit and taste the powers of the kingdom to come. but only those who are born again can be enlightened. so it is possible to be lost once one is converted.. there is security in christ, as we are to abide in him. if we do not we are cut off and burned. this is not purgatory. Trusting a Person, which is our security, is totally different from trusting a doctrinal plank..
They don't understand that a person that believe's in OSAS has the highest respect for the law, that is why we need His (God's) grace... those that believe have humbled themselves because the law condemns them... others that want to be under the laws are not being honest at all and are self righteous.... (Galatians 2: 21)
We can be cut off if we do not abide in faith. Rom 11:20-22
“Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou Standest By FAITH. Be not high minded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches, TAKE HEED LEAST HE Also SPARE NOT THEE.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, IF Thou CONTINUE IN His goodness: Otherwise thou ALSO Shalt Be CUT OFF.
This man's argument is very good. I love it. There is a debate in my church right now on this topic. But I do not believe that once you are saved you are always saved.
@nathaw11 What must be done is exactly the same as Simon had to do when he was lost after he was saved in Acts 8. It hasn't changed' except in the minds of men who took that away.
@howa3984 That makes no sense, since it never says that he lost his salvation. And based off of Romans 8:28-30, you cannot choose to become unforeknown by God. If you are born again, you will be glorified!! 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 agrees with Romans 8 and really puts a huge hole in your argument!!!
The Holy Spirit comes to live within you when you become a child of God. ( when you accept Jesus as your personal Savior). You know it when the Holy Spirit is living within you because you see the world through God's eyes and not the world's eyes. We are "in" the world, but we are not OF the world.
@danielsnelen Adding the word, "alone," in Ephesians 2:8-9 (when it isn't present) is just what Satan did in the Garden when he added the word, "not," in the middle of what God said; "thou shalt surely die."
This is highly discouraging. I believe every word of the bible and worship Jesus every day, but now I feel that if i sin i'm going to hell, even tho Jesus paid it all. I wish i was born a monk, its too easy to sin nowadays. John 3:16 seems very clear and John 1:9 says that He is faithful and Just to forgive us, I just get thrown off by all these interpretations:( help
@danielsnelen Bro-this video is flat out wrong. Your are given an inheritance at the moment you were born again. Read Ephesians 1:13-14, Romans 8:38-39, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, 2 Corinthians 5:5., John 3:16. They all show that it is the Father who secures us in Him through the Holy Spirit. This video is FLAT OUT WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry but you are terribly mistaken sir. Besides, you mentioned that in order for someone's sins to be washed away they must be baptized? Not only is that unbiblical but it's wrong. Jesus forgave the sins one of the men who was crucified with him, but was that man baptized after he believed? No. Nor did he live he live a perfect life, but he believed that Jesus was the son of God and to save him from death in hell. So I strongly urge you to reconsider your thoughts on this, friend.
@Johnnyboy1990sp How is quoting scripture (Acts 22:16) unscriptural? It is scriptural. It is just un-Johnnyboy. It is un-Luther. It is un-Calvin. But IT IS pro-God.
ooops big blunder at 3:06 buddy. Sorry. You are much advised to just let the words of Christ speak. Jesus never says what you say Security is not in abiding in the doctrine of Christ. Sure the words of Christ are essential, but you have just made salvation/assurance informational or intellectual. Contrariwise Jesus repeatedly says in varied ways we must abide in Him to be secure. This is relational, real and simple. Remaining "in Christ" as Paul phrases it repeatedly is key to security.
He means by true faith alone. True faith results in righteous works. Dead faith is the faith where you are actually cheating yourself and you never really became a believer/new creation at all. True faith will always produce good works. Faith with not a single good work equals dead faith. Dead faith can produce good and bad works.
I have firsthand knowledge of the last part of your comment. It is MUCH worse than anything you can imagine to know Him and then be cast off like trash. Please, remain in Him no matter what.
God gave me just a few moments of what if is like to be seperated from Him for eternity, and anything painful to the flesh is not to be compared to this, because it is so aweful. It is like having NO HOPE WHATSOEVER and getting EXPONENTIALLY WORSE every moment, dread and fear seazing you combining with overwhelming helplessness and despondency. It was THE most aweful fealing I have ever had. While we are alive, we have hope for the future. But when we are dead AND lost, there is no hope - EVER!
If anyone wants to boil this down to one word, then set aside "works" or "faith." "Obedience" to Christ in Baptism is salvation. Obedience requires faith as in trusting Christ will guide, protect, and love us. It also requires action. We are commanded to help others in their need.
I lost my salvation more than seven years ago and now I'm a slave to sin an terror. Depression and lack of rest follow me everywhere I go. John 15:1-8*, Hebrews 6:4-8*,Heb 12:14-17. I should never have been born.
my freind I dont know if you are joking are not, But let me just tell you this, If you are still alive here in this world, then you can be saved, Jesus said who ever comes to me I will in never cast out..you can come to Him right now, chose this today who you will serve, Jesus or your self.
My life is NOT something to joke about but people like you make me laugh. God will not continue to tolerate willful disobedience in the lives of His servants forever. There IS sin that leads to death. Go back and read the scripture that I left and get some real knowledge. If you are a true believer, then accept ALL of God's word and not only what comforts you.
I was not trying to make joke of you life, but if you think that you are unforgiven, then you can repent come to christ, there is forgiveness at the cross....please dont missunderstand me Iam not trying to disrespect your life I dont know you, I thought your comment was that you cant be forgiven.
I am a true reprobate and I have been dead for about seven years and eight months. I had to find out the hard way when I tried to return to Him after four months of deliberate sinning that my grace period had expired. It mattered not how much I begged and pleaded for Him to forgive me and deliver me from my tormentors. He was through dealing.
I really don't think someone who is trying to get back to God has been forsaken. It is God that calls one back to repentence by His Holy Spirit. If God had truly forsaken you, you wouldn't want to come back to Him, since ONLY the Holy Spirit can draw people back to God. I believe the Devil is deceiving you so you won't fully repent, and so end up in Hell. I have had many years of not living for God as I should have, but He has brought me back. I am better than you? Does God play favorites? NO! !
God's last call came seven plus years ago as I was walking up the steps to my friends front door. I refused because in my mind I wasn't ready to return until I "wore my sin" out. He was unwilling to wait any longer. Luke 13: 6-9, John 15: 1-6, Heb. 6:4-8, 12:14-17, & 1 John 5:16-17.
James 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. I believe you are willingly being deceived. If you want to spend eternity in Hell, that is your choice. God doesn't call back those He has forsaken completely.
"God doesn't call back those He has forsaken completely" Exactly! That was my point. He hasn't call since all those years ago and He never will again! Deceived? By God's Word?! Certainly not! Because that's where the Truth comes from and in addition to that I've been suffering with this for years! Why is that so hard for you to grasp? Crack open the Word and see the entire truth.
@rep5281 hey rep5281, was just reading back through some of these posts and I realize that this one was 9 months ago. I dont know if you have had a change of heart since then, but, you may be the only one that doesn't see that God is still calling you. It's evident to me that Spirit of Truth is still talking to you or there would be no guilt or desire for God. Get down on your knees and dont get up until you hear His voice instead of that liar and tormentor the devil. Blessings.
"If I want to go to Hell"?! Have you not heard me? Seven plus years of torment here and now on Earth. I have already been living in Hell because He has already decided to pass judgement on me. I didn't have anyone around to lead me back before it was too late so my soul was not "saved from death".
On the night when I tried to repent, I prayed and confessed with a true desire to return to His service. Then, I atempted to go to sleep but was attacked by an evil spiritual voice and a terrifying pull of darkness on my heart. I prayed hard but I found that I had come back too late and had been shut out. His judgement was set (Heb. 12:15-17*) and He wasn't changing His mind. My sin was willful and persistent. I had allowed my heart to grow too hard, so He released me to "them".
that verse does not apply to you, you are not esau, you are not a jew, hebrews was written to jews who understod the law of moses and the story of esau. please read 1st john ch 2, my freind the devil is a liar, and he is trying to get you tobelive that you cant be forgiven, and that is a lie. we are in the new covenent, CHRIST WANTS TO FORGIVEN YOU, AND HE HAS....dont listen to the liar...all your sins have been washed in the blood of the lamb. iam only saying this cause I care for you.
The bible was written by Jews so it applies to none of us gentiles. Do you see how ridiculous that sounds? I must forgive your ignorance. Yes, Hebrews was originally written to Hebrew Christians but the message that ALL Christians need to remain faithful to Jesus is for you today as well. When any believer willingly gives up their "birthright" of salvation in Christ they, as Esau, can never get it back again. Begging and pleading is usesless. Prayer is useless. Jer. 7:16-29, 1John 5:16-17.
I am not going to argue with you just because you are looking for excuses to disbelieve God's word. Again, the ten commandments were for Jews, so it doesn't apply to you, right? Wake up!
The only thing the devil has to do with this is the endless torment of terror, sorrow, bitterness, perversion, and depression for the past seven plus years. Reprobates are always reminded of our missed opportunities. We have no rest now and it will be far worse when we die. Remain in Him and He will not leave you. 1 Chron. 28:9 & 2 Chron. 15: 1-2.
I am sorry but even if you send the letter to my inbox I will not be able to read it. I only have mobile YT access and not desktop. Reply and give me the gist of what the letter is about. We both believe the same but the difference is that I am actually in it so I understand firsthand how real reprobation is.
I just put my letter to you in a blog post called, "Don't be decieved anylonger, if you want to repent and turn back to God, you haven't gone too far.
Just leave a comment on the blog post or here when you have finished reading it.
I just remembered that since you do not have access to desktop, you may not be able to read the blog post. Your soul is worth going to a friends house or a library, isn't it? Try to get to a desktop to view the blog post when you can. I will keep it there.
I read it. Misinterpreting? You aren't saying anything I haven't heard before. It is NOT impossible to desire repentance when it's too late. Just ask the fallen servants in Outer Darkness. Unpardonable sin? Think about your own viewpoint. God either always forgives or He doesn't (me). Think about it. Another thing, don't compare me to David. Two different individuals. If you insist on comparisons, I'm more like King Saul and Ananias and Sapphira.
However, I was granted more chances to get right than those three, and David was treated better than all four of us! Again, different individuals and different treatment. I was the prodigal who was 'dead' but He would've restored my spiritual life and cast out the evil spirits IF I had repented at the last call. I did not. So...Jer 7:13-16, 23-29, Prov. 29:1, Isa. 55:6, Rom. 1:28.
"You haven't gone too far" You are not God and you do not know His judgements concerning my life and the opportunities that I rejected. Please, go back and truly read the scriptures I left and understand what I wrote here. Get outside of that mental box that you're in. God's word is true and He's not playing with us in these last days.
The whole dispute can be resolved with understanding what Grace means.. What a great thing, that "all that Grace demands, it supplies". Take 15 minutes a day and meditate on what Grace truly is and thank and praise God for it and your theology with drift away from this guy's and you'll start reading the Bible with a deep understanding of God's mysterious ways. What a gracious God! to save us from rebellion and iniquity AND graciously give us a heart which wants to serve him.
oh SO GLORIOUS PASTOR! TELL ME THIS WISE ONE---HOW DO YOU OR I KNOW WE'VE WORKED GOOD ENOUGH? HOW DO I KNOW I WAS BETTER THAN I WAS BAD? ALL SENSE YOUR SPEECHES ARE! SO BY YOUR DOCTRINE, WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN (OH, ONLY THE BEST OF US, RIGHT?) WE CAN ALLLL BOAST ABOUT HOW GOOD WE WERE AND TELL OF THE MIGHTY ACTS WE DID ON EARTH TO GET THERE.......NO! NO! NO!
THAT TAKES AWAY FROM THE GLORY OF GOD!!!!!
YOU SOUND MIGHTY PROUD PASTOR!
GOD OPPOSES THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
Free? - Don't you remember the verse in Norman 13:666 - "yea are saved by human performance" Come on Man - how can you question Norm? Norman12:666 "God grades on the Curve; and yea shall receive a passing grade with a 61 or D- average, then gates will be open to thee as long as you are not carrying a trumpet when you die - then all else that I say about Grace free to ALL is Null & Void."
I love you, brother! The first comment that you responded to reminded me a lot of what a certain person said when I was trying to set them up for a debate with a member of the church about baptism. Apparently we're heretics...haha. I've been in the church long enough to know we don't believe works save us. The reason most people attack our position is because they don't fully understand it. They think we believe in baptismal regeneration and our salvation is constantly in jeopardy. Amen, brother
Dear one, Our salvation is not kept by us but by Him. Loss is of rewards, even life itself if God so decides, but those who are saved do not control God, nor have or would decide to leave. If they do then it if fair to presume they were not saved to begin.John 10:27-30 is vital.
Great comment! Thank you. All the verses that the once-saved-always-saved use to try and teach that you cannot fall away are passages that say no one can take it away from you. But it doesn't say you can't choose to give it up.
Hmmmm..... i guess according to you Jesus didnt cover the sin of unbelief....maybe you should read John Owen's book: The Death of Death in the Death of Christ.
PreacherNorm, first, John Owen was a preacher; I think we can all agree on that. Second, if you're implying that we shouldn't take into consideration what preachers say about the Bible, doesn't that refute your entire premise behind doing these videos? In other words, if you're truly a preacher and we're supposed to take what you imply to "just keep reading the Bible", why do you not solely do that in your videos? Your videos are filled with your own commentary; not just reading the text.
I always exhort people to never take my word for anything. But to listen to what I am saying and then compare it with the Bible (Acts 17:11). If I am saying what the Bible says then listen to the Bible, if I am not then listen to the Bible and rebuke me as a false teacher. You all have reversed that, you listen to John Calvin and accept his teaching without scriptural examination. Then you want to force the Bible into agreement with him instead of denying him as a false teacher.
"...you listen to John Calvin and accept his teaching without scriptural examination."
PreacherNorm, you assume that, but it isn't true. One thing I love about his and Owen's writings is the amount of Scripture they share or will reference to when they make points. They provide ample amounts of Scripture for others to see if what they're saying lines up with Scripture. To make those latter assertions without providing any Scripture yourself basically shoots your argument in the foot. (cont...)
I'm going to ask the following letting you know before hand that I was basically a KJVO and thought Calvinism was heresy at a time in my life:
Have you ever read any of Calvin's, Owen's, Sproul's, Edwards', etc's. works yourself? The reason I ask is, as I said, I once shared your views to an extent, but it was mainly because I accepted the pejorative assertions of people instead of actually reading what they wrote and deciding there. Basically I had put man's opinion over the Bible.
Your view of James chapter 2 is wrought with misunderstanding. You wrongfully tie his subject with salvation when in fact he is talking about proof of true faith. "Faith without works is dead" simply means that words alone do not prove a man's claim to Christ. His faith is proven by his good works. If he does no good works and lives like a pagan, he proves he never had true faith at all. You have to decide whether you're a biblical man or a philosopher.
"...IF you are faithful you're not going to loose it..."- this is works-based theology and an Arminian view. You can neither lay aside your faith, nor hold on to it if you are a true believer. Though Calvin would cringe at the idea, the five points are biblical and cannot be separated. You should look at them and study them with an unbiased and biblical eye.
It's obvious that Oct31st1517 hit the nail on the head with identifying this as a works righteousness Gospel. There is a difference between works coming from faith and relying on works for salvation. If his response is anything like the other videos he's done, it should be a great one. He's pretty well known for doing great responses to heretics and heresies.
Maybe you should wait until I get the complete response uploaded. We wouldn't want people thinking you were making your accusations and false charges without having all the facts, would we?
Mr. Norm, I'm sure you are smarter than this. Go to your library, pick up your Strong's Concordance and look up the terms "justified" in both James and Romans. When you do, please present your findings.
We who are believers in "once saved always kept" [1 Peter 1:5] have the weight of evidence from the Word.
By the way [though I'm sure it will prove unnecessary after my brothers are through with theirs...] I will also produce a Bible study using PowerPoint slides just like yourself to explain the Biblical teaching on security and assurance sometime this weekend

OSAS is a lie of a false Gospel and a false Jesus Christ.
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

777denny 2 years ago

Blessings.
xRaisethestandardx 2 years ago
"If I want to go to Hell"?! Have you not heard me? Seven plus years of torment here and now on Earth. I have already been living in Hell because He has already decided to pass judgement on me. I didn't have anyone around to lead me back before it was too late so my soul was not "saved from death".
rep5281 2 years ago
On the night when I tried to repent, I prayed and confessed with a true desire to return to His service. Then, I atempted to go to sleep but was attacked by an evil spiritual voice and a terrifying pull of darkness on my heart. I prayed hard but I found that I had come back too late and had been shut out. His judgement was set (Heb. 12:15-17*) and He wasn't changing His mind. My sin was willful and persistent. I had allowed my heart to grow too hard, so He released me to "them".
rep5281 2 years ago
that verse does not apply to you, you are not esau, you are not a jew, hebrews was written to jews who understod the law of moses and the story of esau. please read 1st john ch 2, my freind the devil is a liar, and he is trying to get you tobelive that you cant be forgiven, and that is a lie. we are in the new covenent, CHRIST WANTS TO FORGIVEN YOU, AND HE HAS....dont listen to the liar...all your sins have been washed in the blood of the lamb. iam only saying this cause I care for you.
jdmarcus59 2 years ago
The bible was written by Jews so it applies to none of us gentiles. Do you see how ridiculous that sounds? I must forgive your ignorance. Yes, Hebrews was originally written to Hebrew Christians but the message that ALL Christians need to remain faithful to Jesus is for you today as well. When any believer willingly gives up their "birthright" of salvation in Christ they, as Esau, can never get it back again. Begging and pleading is usesless. Prayer is useless. Jer. 7:16-29, 1John 5:16-17.
rep5281 2 years ago
I am not going to argue with you just because you are looking for excuses to disbelieve God's word. Again, the ten commandments were for Jews, so it doesn't apply to you, right? Wake up!
rep5281 2 years ago
The only thing the devil has to do with this is the endless torment of terror, sorrow, bitterness, perversion, and depression for the past seven plus years. Reprobates are always reminded of our missed opportunities. We have no rest now and it will be far worse when we die. Remain in Him and He will not leave you. 1 Chron. 28:9 & 2 Chron. 15: 1-2.

"I thought your comment was that you can't be forgiven" That's exactly what I said.

Thank you for listening,

If you insist on comparisons, I'm more like King Saul and Ananias and Sapphira.
rep5281 2 years ago
However, I was granted more chances to get right than those three, and David was treated better than all four of us! Again, different individuals and different treatment. I was the prodigal who was 'dead' but He would've restored my spiritual life and cast out the evil spirits IF I had repented at the last call. I did not. So...Jer 7:13-16, 23-29, Prov. 29:1, Isa. 55:6, Rom. 1:28.
rep5281 2 years ago

Sorry, I meant your theology WILL drift away from his.

oh SO GLORIOUS PASTOR!

I agree with the comment!
Yes the works IN CHRIST count but not for salvation! I cant do nothing for my salvation only believe that JESUS died for me!
Sins awareness is a GIFT from GOD, you open your heart or you close your heart for GODS word!
Hebr,3,15
As has just been said:Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts
Gal.2,21
21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law (works), Christ died for nothing!
Gluma 3 years ago
Our free will dies with our death. So we always have choice to believe or not, throughout our life.
Whoever believes and dies as a believer God said that they will be saved. Of course there have to be works and deeds for the benefit of the soul.
There are many levels in Heaven, depending the life works and degree of faith in the individual.

AbaloneKid 3 years ago
Great comment! Thank you. All the verses that the once-saved-always-saved use to try and teach that you cannot fall away are passages that say no one can take it away from you. But it doesn't say you can't choose to give it up.

Hmmmm..... i guess according to you Jesus didnt cover the sin of unbelief....maybe you should read John Owen's book: The Death of Death in the Death of Christ.
charliejunfan1 3 years ago
How about I just keep reading the Bible. I think that is where I'll find the words of eternal life, not John Owen's book.
PreacherNorm 3 years ago
This is exactly your problem. You read the bible. You don't STUDY it. This is why you and the entire "church of christ" movement fails doctrinaly.

I wonder why i should listen to you then, maybe i should just read my bible without listening to any preachers, im sure thats what you did right?
charliejunfan1 3 years ago

PreacherNorm 3 years ago
"...you listen to John Calvin and accept his teaching without scriptural examination."
PreacherNorm, you assume that, but it isn't true. One thing I love about his and Owen's writings is the amount of Scripture they share or will reference to when they make points. They provide ample amounts of Scripture for others to see if what they're saying lines up with Scripture. To make those latter assertions without providing any Scripture yourself basically shoots your argument in the foot. (cont...)
LaneCh 3 years ago
I'm going to ask the following letting you know before hand that I was basically a KJVO and thought Calvinism was heresy at a time in my life:
Have you ever read any of Calvin's, Owen's, Sproul's, Edwards', etc's. works yourself? The reason I ask is, as I said, I once shared your views to an extent, but it was mainly because I accepted the pejorative assertions of people instead of actually reading what they wrote and deciding there. Basically I had put man's opinion over the Bible.
LaneCh 3 years ago
@PreacherNorm amen, the bible is the only source!
neartochrist2 5 months ago
Your view of James chapter 2 is wrought with misunderstanding. You wrongfully tie his subject with salvation when in fact he is talking about proof of true faith. "Faith without works is dead" simply means that words alone do not prove a man's claim to Christ. His faith is proven by his good works. If he does no good works and lives like a pagan, he proves he never had true faith at all. You have to decide whether you're a biblical man or a philosopher.
bberchin 3 years ago
"...IF you are faithful you're not going to loose it..."- this is works-based theology and an Arminian view. You can neither lay aside your faith, nor hold on to it if you are a true believer. Though Calvin would cringe at the idea, the five points are biblical and cannot be separated. You should look at them and study them with an unbiased and biblical eye.
bberchin 3 years ago
You have taken me out of context. This is a characteristic of heretics. I will be responding to your misrepresentation on video.
Oct31st1517 3 years ago
It's obvious that Oct31st1517 hit the nail on the head with identifying this as a works righteousness Gospel. There is a difference between works coming from faith and relying on works for salvation. If his response is anything like the other videos he's done, it should be a great one. He's pretty well known for doing great responses to heretics and heresies.
LaneCh 3 years ago
Maybe you should wait until I get the complete response uploaded. We wouldn't want people thinking you were making your accusations and false charges without having all the facts, would we?
PreacherNorm 3 years ago
